Hello! I’m Betsy and this is my fantastic husband Bennett. We met at the Britechester Bible College a little over a year ago and just three short weeks ago we became husband and wife!
While we have only been married a short time I have already learnt so much and feel as though the Lord is calling me to share our story & mentor others in being a stay at home wife (and mother lord willing)
A little background on myself, I am my parents 14th and final child & I thank the Lord daily that I was born and raised in to such a godly family. I was home schooled with a good Biblical home school program and being home all day meant that I was so much closer to my siblings even the older ones! When I was growing up my mother showed me Gods commandments for women; for them to be faithful and content, pure and meek, obedient and joyful, those character qualities instilled in me have served me well in the early days of my marriage.
As I grew from a teenager to a young woman I prayed with my parents and asked their permission to go to a Christian college so that I would be well equipped to teach my children if the Lord willed me to be a mother, my parents agreed and I am so thankful they did as God used my education to draw me close to my now husband.
Speaking of my wonderful husband let me tell you a little about him. Bennett’s upbringing was the polar opposite to mine, his parents were atheists and were never at home, being an only child meant that he practically had to raise himself. It was hard for him but God was using this trial to bring him closer to Jesus.
To keep from being lonely at home he joined a local youth club, this youth club was in fact a local church ministry and through that Bennett learnt of his sin and dedicated his life to our savior Jesus! As he got older his pastor encouraged him to attend a Christian College to pursue his passion for ministry, little did he know that just a year later he would be on one knee proposing to me!
We met at the Brite Singles ministry on campus and Bennett has since told me it was love at first sight for him. As for me I thought he was cute and seemed to be of good character but my parents had raised me not to pursue men so I treated him as I would any other brother in Christ.
Unfortunately Bennett had never been around a person like me before (a lady who would wait to be pursued as the Lord intended) and assumed that I didn’t like him, it wasn’t until one of the other young men told him that he should take the lead that he realised that’s what I was waiting on. Things were a little rocky at first, he didn’t know what courtship was and assumed that we would just date like the secular people do, he also didn’t really understand Gods role for a husband and father.
I prayed for him daily that even if he wasn’t the one the Lord had for me that his time persuing me would teach him about Gods will in all things relationships and faithful as ever the lord provided. I watched him learn and grow in his faith in to the Godly man he is today. I am so thankful the Lord brought us together.
We were married just 1 week after our graduation. We were wed at a tiny chapel in Windenburg it was beautiful and so inexpensive (being the youngest of 14 I know how to ‘buy used, save the difference’ my way to a cheap wedding.)
We chose to save our first kiss for our wedding day so as Satan could not tempt us into sinful thoughts or actions and it was one of the best decisions we could have made. Having our first kiss at the alter where he had just pledged out lives to God and one another was the most incredible experience.
Bennett vowed before God to care, honor, love, protect and provide for me while I vowed to love, submit, be an obedient and faithful helpmeet to him just as God designed.
And that brings us up to now (well almost, I have a few honeymoon pictures for my next post.) God is so good and I can’t wait to share the future works he does in our lives as we seek to honor him and share his name with the world!
