hello there! strangers can call me paris, i’m 26, and i’m in the pacific timezone. my activity tends to be sporadic due to my busy life. my usual formatting is double spacing and small text with color used for dialogue. this simply makes it easier for me to read. however, i will more than likely copy your formatting style when we write together if i don’t know you’re fine with that formatting.
you can read my rules over on my carrd
you can find my detailed rules on my rules pages but there’ s some things i’d like to note real quick:
This is a hobby, and my blog, and I am allowed to cultivate a comfortable space for myself. I don’t want anyone who rps/supports these things following me:
a.ttack on t.itan, h.etalia, anything from jk rowling’s writings, cis genderbends, rape, pedophilia, glorification of abuse, bestiality, or i.ncest
shouldn’t have to be said but i don’t tolerate bigotry of any sort
I really don't give a damn about "proshippers", this is a hostile space towards those who claim to be such.
Since people have apparently decided to muddy the meaning of proship: to be absolutely clear I will not tolerate people who glorify and romanticize pedophilia, incest, and bestiality. I will not interact with people who interact with these types of people either. This is my blog, and I am allowed to cultivate a comfortable space for myself.
That being said, I also will not associate myself with those who unironically call themselves "antis". I've had bad experiences from "both sides".

pov your entire knowledge of Everything you fought for was a lie, you get tortured, your childhood friend dies in your arms, you have to order your father's death (also the ruler of your nation), you lose your dearest friend to your greatest enemy's rancor, you get stabbed, you get beaten, you prevent a coup, you shoot an arrow at your dearest friend, you resolve that you have to Kill him, and then when it's all over and you're finally ready to step down from power and maybe take a break they elect you president of the nobles.
no one's asked but i think aymeric's Biggggest no while having sex is bondage. the vault was Bad. would freak him out being detained/unable to move too badly methinks.
Her posture noticeably became less tense at his words, though not relaxed completely. There would forever remain a part of her that felt thoroughly on edge, like a beast was about to strike her. Half of that came from knowing that people were quite willing and able to make covert attempts on her life here, and the other half was due to the dress Tataru had made her for this illustrious dinner clinging to her skin. Would it be rude if I excused m'self t'go change? Should she grin and bear it instead, and just talk about what things were going to be like going forward for Ishgard and the Scions?
She decided to remain seated despite her urges to fidget in place. "By the kami," she muttered, "would it trouble you if y'were t'give me pointers in that regard? With how things're goin' right now, I don't forsee this bein' the last political engagement I get swept up in." She brings a hand to her forehead, grimacing. "An' if I hafta deal with nobles in the future, I'd at least like t'know what manner've infested waters I'll find m'self within. Past experience says I am, an' please excuse m'language as I know it ain't fer polite company, completely fucked."
If it was as ingrained enough to be habit as he said, then surely he wouldn't mind. Or perhaps he would mind, as it would mean she'd become wise to any particular tricks. "I'm afraid I haven't much t'offer in return. Hah, maybe you'd like t'join me on m'next international escapade?" Though it came off as a joke, her eyes were earnest. He has too much goin' on here, he'll prolly say no, but... He was her friend. She wouldn't mind fighting at his side again.
⇶ Aymeric ducks his head, slightly out of embarrassment more than anything. The typical way of things for these exchanges were so very different to what's happening now he hardly knows what he could possibly say. Perhaps he should have assumed 'twas only ever to be something so light-spirited ere he stumbled his way into speaking as though trying to win over an ally. Granted, his interactions with Hikari were not as frequent as her interactions with Estinien or... or their late mutual friend, Haurchefant.
After everything that's happened, it would make sense that he would want for something more in line with familiarity, yet he cannot help but feel as though his feet continue to be swept out from under himself. He laughs, half out of being polite, half out of relief that he need not put on any more airs. " Aye. Though I must needs caution against Ishgardian politics as your basis — I am painfully aware of how isolationism has affected our — nay, my perspective on the matter. 'Tis much more insular, and I am certain many would rather the hero of Eorzea continue to be open and honest than something of a calculating politician. "
With that he takes another swig of his wine, a slightly incredulous look on his face at her offer. " Ah... were I any less busy as I am now, perhaps I would take you up on the offer. I cannot deny the breathlessness I felt 'pon setting mine eyes on Sohr Khai. Alas, I am afraid my presence is needed here, more than ever. " Despite his words, there is a hint of regret behind them. Some yearning behind his eyes that has always wanted for more out of life than settling in Ishgard. Alas, his own sense of duty dictates he remain and finish what he'd started.
sick in the head thinking about how they specified aymeric nailing a dragon's eye the first time he and estinien fought one together (and became friends) and how aymeric laments letting loose an arrow at estinien's heart but when you actually watch the cutscene he most certainly was aiming at the eye on nidstinien's right side.
i just know he was working on pure adrenaline at that point, then it happened, and he played it over in his head and felt immense remorse at what he did (once estinien was safe. he had made it abundantly clear he would do what he must if it means protecting the newfound peace between man and dragon.)
⇶ " Admittedly, Starlight is among my favorite holidays. And that its origins are from Ishgard — I shan't deny the pride I feel seeing others celebrate it. "
" ... granted... 'tis a touch disappointing Ishgard does not host the celebrations. I suppose most do not want to fight the particularly difficult winters we face... "

It's easy for those all too unfamiliar with historical fashion to mistake the clothing style to be something from say, the Edwardian era. But! I am here to tell you that couldn't be further from the case. Let's talk about why.
(Credentials are: trust me bro (jk I'm in the art history field and intend to get my masters in art history with a focus on historical fashion))
Nobility
Let's start with Nobility.
Something of great importance to note in regards to how the nobility dresses (and its following fashions with the Restoration project) in Ishgard is that they are trapped in a perpetual winter, so their clothing (namely the men's) won't reflect 1 to 1 with historical trends. The big, fur coat is most notable. The women's however, is easily translated to the trends of 13th century fashion. Here we can compare below:
It's not as notable in the Men's fashion, but if you pay attention to the leggings of the men (just above the jackboots which are more indicative of elezen fashion than anything else), they are wearing what's called spanish breeches.
Now these weren't in with the 13th century, but they very much were of the 16th century.
I do think the spanish breeches were the intent for Ishgardian noblemen, though given limitations of graphics capabilities
My one caveat in regards to this all is how limited shapewear is in the early expansions of xiv. (Namely in regards to leggings and other such wear)
Additionally, I know everyone says that Aymeric's choice of wear is silly for the dinner cutscene but! It truly was fashionable for the timeframe the men's dress of Ishgardian fashion was inspired by.
Like other nobles, he's wearing the same coat, with the addition of having gold medals instead of silver. We can see he is wearing a neck ruff and a falling collar on the coat over that. This is indicative of the changing fashions in the upper crust of nobility in the 1500s all the way into through the 1600s right up until about the Reign of Terror.
And of course, let's take a closer look at the subtle embroidery on his outer coat (which is more visible on figure 2.) (Don't ask why he's in the desert I couldn't be assed.)
This is incredibly French, lest we forget Ishgard's basis. (And this isn't even to speak of Ishgard's incredibly French Gothic architecture. Just take one look at Notre Dame and you'll see your answer.)
Hell you can see it especially in Lord Edmont
Let's also take a look at the firmament wears, whose style is more similar to that of the 14th century. The puffed out bottom half of the jacket is especially indicative of being 14th century modes.
The Archbishop
We all know what the pope looks like but it's very interesting to note his robe-armor is more akin a king's than a pope's, betraying Thordan VII's desire to become Godking.
The Temple Knights
As for the Temple Knights, this one is all the more obvious. The base armor is very much based on 13th century French armor with a few liberties. Most noteworthy are the steel crowns they adorn themselves with as Temple Knights.
All figures above are depictions of 13th century armor, the top being French while the bottom two being from English art.
Despite the inconsistency with the men's fashion of the nobility, the Knight armor stays in line with its 13th century origins. I don't have much else to say on the matter of the knight's wear without getting into a Whole Thing of it.
Commonwealth
I think the closest analogy I can make to these two is literally just what regular people wore in their day to day.
Fantasy loves having five million belts though.
Anyways I could probably write an entirely different post on the clergy and that one's inspiration which I'm not as interested in doing. That's all I have to say on this matter.
"tell me more of this—custom?" the traveler needs no protection from the chill beyond their exosuit, but they've wrapped themself in a shawl nonetheless. it's enough to disguise their alien nature, at a glance. "the starlight celebration, i've heard it called; but what does it have to do with the stars?"
⇶ Aymeric is always glad to talk of Starlight's origin — admittedly he cannot help his Ishgardian pride when it comes in the way of it. " Ah, that would be due to its origins. Starlight started in Ishgard, originally, and was only just made popular to the rest of Eorzea in recent years. Granted, most don't realize the true spirit of it.
" Its origins began during the Dragonsong war. After a brutal battle many were left orphaned, as such, during the coldest of nights, the temple knights bade to ignore rule of charter and snuck those young orphans under their coats and into their barracks so that they would be sheltered and warm. This was during a time when the temple knight's color was once red rather than blue.
" When the orphans grew up, and the fighting had lulled, they wished to honor and venerate these knights. As such, they would dress in bright red coats and give out gifts to children of the brume, passing along the joy they felt those starlit nights.
" 'Tis less to do with the actual stars, I suppose, and more to do with how those first orphans felt under them. "
