Itâs night, and there is an uncomfortable silence in the palace as the Queen of Hell walks down the corridor. Her footsteps echo through the hallway. Thereâs no servant in sight, no one in the palace but Lilith herself. She is alone with her thoughts. And her thoughts are focused on her wonderful child, Charlotte Morningstar, her miracle baby. Because of the fall to hell, and considering Lilith is the first sinner to ever exist, she was cursed, her womb barren. Charlieâs birth was unexpected, a complete surprise. However, it was no coincidence.
Lilith was unsure if the God of Hell still existed, but she had prayed to Roo, to let her have at least one child. And Roo blessed her, surprisingly, Lilith hadnât expected her to even respond to her desperate prayers, but the God of Hell did respond, overriding the curse, and allowing Lilith to have a child. At first, Lilith was deeply concerned, Charlie was born⌠Quiet. Lilith thought she had birthed a dead baby, but no, Charlieâs health was perfect and there werenât any issues with her. Yet, in the beginning, Charlie had been emotionless, she didnât smile, laugh, cry, or show any reactions to pain. It lasted until she turned 5 years old:
âI want to help sinners!â
Lilith can remember it like it was yesterday when Charlie had finally shown emotions, a brightness in her eyes that wasnât present before, her lips spread into a toothy smile. Lilith almost cried with relief and happiness. She had thought that Charlie would never be able to feel, to love, or at least hate. But she was proven wrong that day, a day of celebration between her, Luci, and Charlie. Although, Charlie was quite confused about what they were celebrating she didnât complain and just went with her parent's odd behavior.
Itâs been years since that day. Now, Charlie is flourishing, a passionate young woman with a dream to help her citizens that she will one day rule over as Queen of Hell. Of course, Charlieâs dream to help sinners had spread to imps and hellhounds. Two species that are at the bottom of the hierarchy. The imp's current position had been because of Lucifer, when they fell to Hell, they were met with a society already made. It had been only The Sins and Imps back then, and they had their own little society. But, Lucifer immediately took over, with the rest of the fallen angels. The Sins had let it slide, they didnât have a problem with Lucifer being The King of Hell, surprisingly. However, Lucifer had made imps slaves, he saw them as nothing but inanimate objects, tools that are made to be used. In response, The Sins declared war against Lucifer. It lasted for a few centuries, due to how prideful Lucifer is, but he concedes to defeat and allow imps their proper citizenship when the war became too dangerous and harmful against their citizens and soldiers.
But Lucifer, the pettiest angel in existence, made sure that the imps were on the bottom of the hierarchy, but above hellhounds. HellhoundsâŚ. Are a entirely different topic that Lilith doesnât bother or want to think about. It makes her sick to her stomach. But sweet, loving, and kind Charlie advocates for the rights of imps and hellhounds alike, she even manages to convince the haughtiest noble to fund fundraisers, protests, and advocate campaigns. Charlieâs sly, and with the help of her heir duties and lessons, sheâs become more charming than she should be. Lilith is proud of her, but sheâs worried⌠worried of Charlieâs fate.
Charlie is the first nephilim in existence, it would be a fool to not think of what may lay ahead for Charlie in the future. Lucifer may not think much of it, more focused on the present than the future, but Lilith thinks of it. It haunts her, in her dreams, her nightmares, and her daily life. And there is only one person Lilith is capable of asking, the one being Lilith doesnât want to see or speak to⌠Roo. Summoning a god is no easy feat, but Lilith manages, with an old and ancient spell that hasnât been used in decades, a quick ritual and Lilith waits. In the back of her mind, Lilith is wary if Roo will notice her summonings, but Lilithâs assumption ends up being incorrect. (Sadly).
The room darkens with a heavy presence, it becomes hard to breath, as reality itself twists and a smooth dark brown hand with black-painted nails appears through the floor. Soon, a body follows, Lilith becomes breathless at the sight, recognizing the brown-skinned woman with tight curls that Lilithâs hair never managed to match:
âEve?â Lilithâs voice is soft, expression a tad hopeful, as she sees her old friend again. Her hope is diminished however when the woman opens her mouth.
âIncorrect, Lili, dear,â Rooâs unpleasant and harsh voice falls from Eveâs lips. Roo stands proud and tall in Eveâs skin. It seems that Roo has finally found herself a host, Lilith wants to be surprised that itâs Eve, but she isnât. A dull pang hits Lilithâs at the sight of Eveâs face being unfairly shifted to Rooâs wants and needs. But even now⌠Eve is still so beautiful. âEve is sleepingâŚ. Besides, I doubt you summoned my presence to just hear from her.â Roo drawls, as her lips spread in a crocodile smile, leering at Lilith without any shame.
Lilithâs eyebrow twitches and she glares at Roo with a slight frown, âRoo,â Lilith spits out, Rooâs name falling from her lips as if it disgusted her, but it sounded melodic to Rooâs ears. Lilith watches as Roo observes her surroundings, strutting around like she owns the place, âI didnât think you would actually respond.â
âI respond to any prayer,â Roo said, with an offended tone, as she placed her hand over her heart as if Lilithâs words had struck her personally, âIâm a caring god, yâknow.â Roo purrs, as she turns her full attention to Lilith, and she cocks her head to the side, similar to a curious cat. Lilith shifts on her feet, she feels like a child under Rooâs scrutiny.
âWhy have you summoned me, Lilith?â Roo spoke seriously this time, there wasnât a teasing edge, or playful grin on her face. It made Lilith slightly nervous, from the moment Lilith met Roo, she had never seen her have such a serious expression.
Lilith wets her lips and she finally speaks, âMy daughterâŚ. Charlotte. Iâm worried about her future, what her fate may entail,â Lilith starts with a calm tone, but inside sheâs scared, nervous, and everything in between. âI want toâno, I need to know whatâll happen to her,â Lilith demands, but it doesnât hide the desperation underneath her regal tone, the voice of a worried mother.
Roo observes Lilith, her eyes full of madness, death, and suffering. Yet, Lilith can see the human part of Roo, Lilith silently wonders if Eve has softened Rooâs barriers, âSeeing the future is no easy thing, as Iâm sure youâre aware,â Roo said, her voice full of endless knowledge, âIt can drive a person insane, make them a former shell of themselves. Time has always been a hard topic for you humans to grasp and understand.â The word humans falls from Rooâs lips with a strong amount of venom and hatred.
Roo regains her composure and she continues to speak: âYou understand this, yes? What youâre asking me?â She asks Lilith, staring into the womanâs eyes with an intensity that no one will be able to match. But Lilith stands tall, and she stares back unflinchingly.
âOf course I do, I wouldnât have summoned you if I didnât.â Lilith responds coldly, with all the poise of a Queen. Roo searches for something, and it seems she is satisfied with what she finds in Lilithâs eyes because her lips break out into a cruel smile. She doesnât allow Lilith any preparation for what she is about to do.
Rooâs devilish and godly eyes shine bright as she forces Lilith to stare into her eyes and be consumed by the madness of the future.
Screams and explosions are all Lilith can hear, the once bright and pure sight of Heaven is in ruins, everything burning down in a green fire. Heaven is decorated with shining gold liquid, Blood, Lilith realizes as the echoing noises of screams donât diminish. Lilithâs breath gets stuck in her throat, as she is struck by the sight of Godâs corpse, slowly disappearing into pure light, signifying the end of everything. A person, a harbinger of destruction, stands in the middle of Heavenâs downfall. Their hair is as dark as midnight, their skin as white as a cloud, yet it is marked by streaks of dark lines that curl around their shoulders, forming shapes of the universe. Theyâre hauntingly beautiful, something that shouldnât be gazed upon. But even with this change, Lilith can recognize her darling girl anywhere.
Charlie, Charlie, Charlie
The words echo through Lilithâs head as she watches her child destroy Heaven, Hell, and Earth. Lilith wants to cry and sob, but she isnât allowed to do so, as the vision slowly ends.
âNo! No!â Lilith sobs, the tears streaming down her face, as she cries, cries, and cries. Like a endless rain. Roo stands over Lilithâs downtrodden form, looking down at the woman without any emotion on her face.
âThisâŚ. Is your daughterâs fate,â Roo declares over Lilithâs sobbing, âYour daughter shall be the destroyer of all realms, there is nothing you can do to stop it.â Roo said, as a simple fact. Lilith lifts her face from her hands, her hair frizzy and her makeup a mess, as she gazes up at Roo with wild and hopeless eyes.
Lilith canât accept it. No, she refuses to accept it. So the only thing she can do is beg her God to be merciful:
âPlease, Roo, there has to be something that can change her fate,â Lilith begs, hanging onto Rooâs robes, like a child to their mother. âPlease! Please! What can I do?!â The words fall from Lilithâs lips, like a prayer, to any god thatâll listen.
Roo, the God of Hell, answers the mourning motherâs prayer.
Roo lifts Lilithâs chin and she peers into Lilithâs eyes. Rooâs own eyes narrowed, and a snarl curls upon her lips, similar to a rabid animal. It doesnât sit right on Eveâs face, âIf you want dear Charlieâs fate to change, then leave, and donât you ever come back.â Roo hisses, baring her frightening teeth at Lilith, while her damning eyes gleam with a cruel viciousness.
Lilith? Well, she leaves Hell, and finds herself back into Heaven; where it all began.
