“Well, if that be the case, then perhaps there is hope yet for them to become formidable politicians as well.” Not that there could be any argument against Antony being a formidable anything. After all, in Rome, it is the man with physical might, the loyalty of legions, and the love of the common man that inevitably made the rules. But the Roman was an anxious sort, unable unwilling to sit in the Senate for hours while some monotone fool babbled on and on, enjoying the sound of his own voice of course. Politicians. Antony lacked the patience. With stupidity and protocol anyhow.

Fulvia, however, had the patience of a monk. If their sons inherited even an once of that, they could certainly be much better men than Antony could ever hope. The gods help anyone subjected to her wrath, however. Like Rome herself, his wife could be vicious. Vindictive. Fearsome. Perfect.

Another crash, this one far more troublesome than the last, followed by the yelling of their caretaker. Antony merely rolled his eyes before taking a sip of his wine. “And you? How have you fared since last we were together? — Has there been any developments I should know about?”

--- “Perhaps...” She mimics his reply, an inner pride swelling at her children’s prosperous futures - or at least what Fulvia imagined them to be, it was a nice daydream. Sipping her own freshly acquired wine, the cup hid her growing smirk though if her husband was familiar enough with her by now, he should be able to note the slight sparkle in her eye -- her inner thoughts not quite as hidden to those whom knew where to look. Regardless, Fulvia knew her son’s futures were bright.

Brows arched at his question, “I am well husband, more so now that I am by your side once more...as for developments..” Fulvia took another sip with a step forward, inches away from her husband, a playful smile upon her lips. “...Is craving you considered a development? Though such desires are frequent when in your presence, my love.”

Strange that talk of war would inspire him to kiss her. Strange if one were not familiar with Mark Antony. Clattering noise in the adjacent room halted a slight movement forward, a light sigh escaping his lips. “They’re Roman boys. They will either become great generals or great politicians. In the hope of a happy life for them, I am pushing for the former.”

Fulvia get slip an affectionate chuckle at the mention of their sons futures, a subject she often dallied with herself; “whichever path they choose, they shall become greats - our blood runs in their veins after all.” Vanity was a prominent trait among them both and it was Fulvia’s opinion that they complimented each other this way well, perhaps too well for some - combined they did make a very formidable force.

“Some would not be wrong, dearest Fulvia,” he replied with a grin, brows raising briefly before a flick of his wrist, fingers snapping, brought about a cup of wine. “Wherever you wish to go, I shall follow. – Though perhaps it would be prudent to inform Caesar of my plans. Lest he accuse me of desertion.” Highly unlikely. His loyalty to the man, almost blind, would prevent him from ever entertaining such a thought. A boom laugh echoed through the airy, spacious room, fond smile spreading on his lips. “I could not be prouder.”

“Accuse you of desertion?” Fulvia almost laughed a the thought, a hand placing lightly upon his chest, “there would be a civil war.” There was little lie in her words either, Rome could quite easily tear it’self apart if discord erupted between them and Caesar; the streets would be awash with blood. The crash within the other room however caused her to glance backward, brow risen in that motherly curiosity and apprehension for upcoming tears - alas their were none; thank the gods. “You encourage them too much.”

I am the nameless daughter of Isis. I have come to bear not so happy news from the goddess herself. Antony never loved you. He loved Cleopatra more than you could ever imagine. That is why he was with her and not you in the end. Just so you know.

— “You know not of what you speak.” Denial was strong within Fulvia, what was spoken she just could not bring herself to believe, it was a pain that she didn’t want to entertain. Upon her own death bed, Fulvia had sent for him, begged him to come and hold her hand as Pluto beckoned her to the Elysian Fields - he had denied her and that ultimate pain was the final pain her weak mortal body could take; it had killed her, not the fever but a broken heart. Her love for Antony was powerful and consuming and Fulvia had given him everything but his abandonment caused the cracks in her marble façade to show and like a ripple affect they spread from the epicentre until she had crumbled with his ultimate rejection.

“I-I gave him sons, power…influence beyond imagination. That woman was a harlot who bewitched him with a moist cunt and glittering gold; it was lust and Antony was weak. But do not say he never loved me, don’t you dare ever say that.” That was just a notion which Fulvia couldn’t even entertain, perhaps he did not love her anymore but she would not believe that love never existed between them, not after everything they went through, there had to have been love.

---- “A city of marble...” It sounded all so spectacular and it was not difficult for Fulvia to picture such a grandeur. Rome was a powerhouse, the powerhouse with an Empire that went unmatched by any and the capital should be the embodiment of that power - it should match the palace of the gods for that’s what they were wasn’t it? The gods representatives on earth? Lips tugged into a smirk as a slave girl brought forth two chalices, Fulvia took them both, handing one over to Caesar. “It would seem we are in agreement. Currently things are not fitting of Rome’s grandeur...”

And that of those friends she had in all of Rome’s influential families. “Ah, you shall have to send Antony the best regards. A pity he is not here.” But not too big a pity, really. Not when he had timed the arrival of the visit aptly.

Surely such matters would be better discussed with my husband?” Fulvia had a way with words, she had since was a girl, but mostly she knew the importance of appearances. She may have luxuries and freedoms greater than other women; the people admired her, she was the model Roman Domina but for that to continue she must always show her obedience. “Regardless, I can always pass on your thoughts, come, partake in some refreshments with me.”
