「 all the way to cloud 9 。」
"You’re a child," he sighed with a quiet shake of the head, both amused and slightly exasperated at how in the world the younger could possibly pull on the cocky persona of his hunter self when in reality, he was a child, through and through. He’d offered to carry the boxes for the younger, seeing as how it really wasn’t a problem for him, but Hongbin had insisted that the bags were heavier and that Taekwoon should carry those.
( It must have been a lie. Boxes of paper tended to weigh considerably more than a few measly bags, and even with his reduced strength due to the sun in the sky, these bags were light. Perhaps it was because of the sun that Hongbin had insisted he carry these. )
Glancing quietly towards the direction that they were headed, he frowned slightly as the sun shone into his eyes ( it hurt, still ) and he squinted, exhaling softly before he juggled the bags slightly so he could slip a hand into the hunter’s pocket, pulling out the keys to their new home.
He couldn’t possibly have let the other live on his own, he reasoned quietly, unlocking the door and holding the door open for his roommate. The list of things Hongbin could cook were limited to cereal ( which didn’t require cooking to begin with, unless one was truly strange ) and bacon, his one true love.
"This is different," his voice came out in a soft murmur and it was just like him to state the painfully obvious, his eyes blinking slowly in the dimness of their new home. This was much nicer than being outside, and he yawned a little bit — despite the fact that it was late afternoon, he hadn’t had the chance to sleep very much that day.
"I am not --" he protests, a pout coming onto his face before he scrunches up his nose, realizing he was very much just proving the vampire's point and he sighs quite loudly, shaking his head before he walks past the elder and into their new living area. ( He was quite amused that, as much as Taekwoon had seemed to have hated him when they first met and before he found himself bothering the vampire on a daily basis, that he was comfortable enough to shove his hand into his pocket to get the keys. )
"Should we get black out curtains? Those ones aren't too bad, but if we get black out curtains you would feel better during the day right?" Hongbin had found out that he had much to learn about vampires once he ended up befriending one -- especially one as old as Taekwoon was. There were certain things, and certain myths, that he had never believed or thought possible until they had been confirmed with the other.
And they were often rather ... interesting.
( The whole feeding thing had been an accident after all. )
"This place is a lot smaller, hey? But then again it was made for two people and not four ..." He just tilts his head, realizing he could actually put the boxes down now and he places them onto the ground, glancing around to see what they could do with the place. There wasn't much yet, and he sighs, missing the couch at 7 Crimson Crescent already before he pokes his head into the two rooms. Neither were as big as his room back at the sharehouse but that wasn't horrible.
He guessed there wasn't exactly a reason for them to have separate rooms since he always ended up passing out in the vampire's room when the other fed from him, and he had gotten so used to it that he often found himself actually searching for Taekwoon when he wanted to take a nap. ( His sleeping pattern was pretty messed up since he didn't actually have a job to worry about so he ended up just sleeping and eating all the time if he wasn't searching for intel. )
"Is there a point in picking rooms?"
「 all the way to cloud 9 。」
"9 Cloud Avenue, right? Like Cloud 9? I think I like this address more already --" He was practically bouncing, his cocky alter-ego of his hunter persona having completely dissolved in the presence of his hyung and he blinks at the vampire, pushing his glasses further up the bridge of his nose. There was a four-box tall stack of boxes in his arms that's he trying not to drop, the top one mostly files that he had gathered and -- cough, stolen -- and he was still trying to put a name to the face of the vampire who was attacking him.
( He still had nightmares of the day Taekwoon had ended up on his doorstep wrapped in silver chains, after all. )
The only real reason they were moving was because the vampire that had been threatening him for the past year and a half had been sending strange threats to 7 Crimson Crescent, and rather than endanger the lives of everyone living there -- Hongbin decided to just get out. And well, Taekwoon had to come with him of course. The elder didn't seem to believe that he could live on his own.
They had had this whole argument that consisted of Hongbin's habit of only ever eating cereal and drinking coffee, along with the whole thing of Hongbin's also slightly worrying obsession with bacon, and in the end the vampire was moving out with him as well.
"Oh, I see it!" He nodded his head to the townhouse that they were going to be living at from today on and he heads towards it, attempting, and failing, to get the keys out of his pocket. "Hyung, help me --"
「 alcoholic intervention 」
Mark lifted his foot, resting it on his knee as he stared up into ceiling, humming to himself. His eyes glanced over to Hongbin and he smiled. The other was so cute as a drunk. He was almost sparkling. Mark blinked for a moment. It felt like he was in some kind of anime or something. He blamed Jackson for this. He spent a majority of the younger vampire’s life reading them with him. He hummed again as he mumbled under his breath, “Definitely drunk.”
With a ‘hmph’, he pushed himself off the couch into a sitting position. He looked at Hongbin again, reaching out to grab the other, but Hongbin was already sitting on the ground again. He decided to roll off the couch and over to Hongbin, sitting closer than he actually needed to be, but his body moved on his own and he didn’t really care. Screw Taekwoon and what he said, drunk Mark thought. He’d known Hongbin for a year now, there had to be something and though he knew better, though he knew the reason he avoiding this for such a long time, he didn’t care anymore. ”Yah, Hongbin,” he mumbled a bit, throwing an arm around the human’s shoulder, “Don’t … think too much into this, alright?”
He leaned forward and pressed his lips against Hongbin’s, his eyes closing. If he had to, he’d blame the fact he was drunk.
Taking another long swig of vodka -- he could practically feel it burning its way down his throat and he had to wince slightly to get rid of the feeling, his head spinning at the new introduction of alcohol into his blood stream -- "I said I was, didn't I?" He retorts, trying his hardest to focus on the redhead, but even then he was seeing more than one of the other and he had to blink a few times to really focus. He didn't think too much when Mark slung and arm around his shoulder -- this was normal right? They had always been rather touchy, the halfblood more than the hunter but that was how they were.
"What?" Hongbin had reached out for another chip, completely missing the bag with his reach, grappling in thin air for the bag which had seemed to be much closer the first time and he giggles lightly, reaching out again before Mark spoke and he turned, looking at him in confusion. "Don't think -- don't think too much into what?"
His eyes widened as lips suddenly pressed themselves onto his own, and his eyes slipped closed as a matter of habit. (Who kissed with their eyes open?) He even kissed back, or did he, before his brain finally caught up with his body and his eyes flew open, pushing the other away and jumping up -- but due to the fact that he was nowhere near sober, Hongbin found himself slipping and falling, landing on his behind again with a dull thud to the ground. "Owwww," he groaned, giving up on sitting and just flopping over onto his back, eyes wide. "Did you just -- just kiss me?"
Hongbin: Nom Nom Nom
「 alcoholic intervention 」
Mark leaned back on the couch, getting himself comfortable. He was really starting to like the sound of alcoholism. As long as he stirred from violence, it wasn’t so bad, right? Maybe he just had this morbid voice in his head that was slowly bringing him to the edge. He wasn’t quite sure anymore. He probably needed some help or to talk to someone, but he doubted he would do that. Let him fall into his own pit of despair on his own. No one really had time to focus on him anymore. Or maybe it was the alcohol.
"Huh?" Mark quipped at the sudden realization that Hongbin was in fact talking to him. He turned on his side for a moment, resting his cheek on his hand as he looked at the other, "But you asked me to." He gave the other a bright smile before downing the rest of his beer with an ‘ah’. He grabbed some more chips before placing them in his mouth. He just looked at Hongbin as he ate, smiling a bit. "Don’t worry. I’ll keep you safe… safe from the river… and from leeches," he commented, making a face.
"But you could've said no," he retorts quickly, drinking straight from the vodka bottle now. This was a sure fire way to get him drunk as fast as possible and that was sounding more and more appealing the longer he sat on the floor. Hongbin had stopped eating chips a couple gulps of alcohol ago, now practically just gorging himself on vodka and he was sure that the warm was in his head and his cheeks wasn't because of the temperature of the house. "Sounds good to me."
He rubbed at his eyes, taking another couple chips and placing them in his mouth, chewing as he stood up. Woozy. He pressed his palm to his eyes, glancing at the red head on the couch. "I think ... I'm drunk," mumbled, tongue unfurling strangely as it let the words fall from his lips, stumbling a bit as he tried to right himself. A short giggle fell from his lips as everything spun around him and he ended up just sitting back down, cradling the bottle of vodka to his chest as he took another swig. "Woah, everything is spinning," he said slowly, his tone childish almost.

[/he gives a soft huff of breath, like he’s trying to dispel the heady scent of blood from his nose, and sets his jaw. He’s wound up tight, his whole body tense as his humanity and vampiric instincts battle it out between themselves. He’s almost certain that it shows through crystal clear, and he sweeps his bangs out of his face, holding them there whilst he speaks] Yeah, it’s… It’s kinda hard to miss someone in a place like this but I don’t really mind it. I’m not one to want to garner attention, you know? [/he skips a beat, tongue darting across his lips] I’m a bit of a shrinking violet. [/he looks down to the man’s hand, and he’s almost terrified to take it. It’s easy enough to ignore the burn in the back of his throat and the thrum of blood when he can’t feel it, but taking Hongbin’s hand and feeling the warmth could prove detrimental. For lack of wanting to seem rude, he takes the other’s hand and gives a brief, firm shake, swallowing down hard and forcing out another smile.] Sehun. I’m Sehun.
Makes sense. [ ` nods his head, flicking his hair out of his face before watching as it fell back into his face, and he heaves a small sigh ] I think I need a haircut. [ ` murmurs softly, more to himself than to the other in front of him ] But then again, it's not like I know everyone in the town anyway, I just like to pretend I do. [ ` he grins, dimples appearing in his cheeks as he glances at the other, nodding to himself at the obvious thoughts that were running through the other's mind, dropping his hand when he let go ] Sehun? [ ` he smiles, bowing his head slightly ] Nice to meet you. [ ` shoves his hands into his pockets, wondering what to do next before he glances at the vampire ] Where are you headed? [ ` asks, tilting his head, intrigued as to what this vampire was doing. After having seen a vampire a the edge of blood lust and thirst, he could see the signs much better now and he could tell that Sehun was definitely on edge and he was wondering whether he would be attacked or not. That would be unfortunate. ]
「 puppy eyed interrogation 」
He nuzzled sleepily at the hunter’s neck in a pattern they were both long accustomed to by now. He liked being here — he liked being on top of the younger boy, feeling Hongbin’s heart beat quietly against his own still chest, liked being the one that the youngest hunter came to for anything and everything. He could smell the blood that flowed through the younger’s veins, and sleepily, he let his fangs extend, pressing the sharp tips against pale skin. It wasn’t even that he really needed to feed, it had been just under two weeks and while it was an acceptable time to feed again, the urge wasn’t pressing at him to let blood soothe his aching throat. Perhaps it was better this way, though. He had the most control when he wasn’t hungry — he always had had an enormous amount of control over his own actions, even though testing it out on Hongbin that very first time had been something he had certainly not wanted to do.
He nosed gently at the other’s pulse point as a silent notification that he was going to bite down, opening his mouth and letting sharp fangs cut through paper-thin skin easily, blood pouring itself into his mouth. “Mm…” He made a soft sound into the younger’s neck, his movements gentle and soft, almost soothing in nature despite the original painful nature of the bite.
He fed languidly, taking his time with drawing the blood out of the other’s veins, sucking softly at the sensitive skin, his head tucked into the crook of the younger’s neck, careful as always. It took him much longer this time to feed, not nearly as thirsty as he usually was, resulting in him taking less blood than usual. He had really only wanted the intimacy this time, strange as that sounded. It was not because he liked Hongbin like that, because that was certainly not true, but he had simply wanted to be close to the younger for some reason. It was the same reason why he often went to the other’s room to take a nap, and probably the same reason why the younger often did the same. With a soft sigh, he pulled away slightly, licking at the wounds to seal them quietly before he nuzzled back into the younger’s neck sleepily.
Letting out a hiss at the bite to his pulse point -- it never really got better even after all this time, he wasn't used to it -- he closed his eyes, satisfied that his answers were all answered, somewhat to an extent, and he allowed himself to relax. Which, as always, was the first thing he had been told not to do as a hunter. Don't let down your guard around vampires. It was never a good thing to go against the things that were part of your instinct but he trusted the other too much to care that he was going against everything, ever. The slight shift in Taekwoon's position had him wincing, obviously it was a bit earlier than the vampire usually fed, considering it felt like the older male was biting into still open wounds, or not fully healed ones and he let out a small whimper of pain. He knew that the other never tried to hurt him, but this time he had probably done it to himself.
He relaxed further, settling down into the mattress and letting out a small sigh. It was always strange, being fed from, as he could literally feel the blood leaving his veins through the two puncture wounds in his neck. Imagining his parents' reactions if they realized he was letting a vampire feed from him, the very thing that he had been training to kill since he could walk, was amusing. Even trying to imagine his past self's reaction was rather comical. If someone had told him that he would be feeding a vampire in the near future, he knew he probably would've laughed and called them crazy. This was crazy, though, wasn't it? Hongbin never thought he would trust a vampire enough to befriend it, let alone let it feed off of his life blood, but now ... now he wasn't so sure.
It had never been in his nature to trust people, but once he trusted someone, he was hard for him to fall out of it. Felling Taekwoon's tongue along his neck, sealing the wounds obviously, he let out a small sigh, turning his face to press it softly into the pillow next to him before allowing him to drift off as well.

「 off the clock 」
I dunno. You tend to be full of surprises. (/winks and straightens up, rolling his shoulders and dragging the tea-towel from his shoulder so he can ball it up between his hands.) I doubt it. We probably have something left over, or they can make you a sandwich or soup or something. To be honest, as long as you’re paying, I don’t think they care. What would you like? (/blinks and tuts playfully.) Ah, you need to make sure you eat regularly, it isn’t good for you to go without.
Oh, well I try to be. [ ` jokingly winks before laughing, sliding into a seat and settling down, resting his hands on the table and his chin in his hands as he coyly watches the halfblood walk around the restaurant ] A sandwich would be good! I just want something quick ... [ ` blinks, pouting at him ] You sound like Taekwoon hyung. And Mark. And everyone. [ ` there's a small whine in his voice ] I usually eat cereal before I leave the house, but I was in a rush today.
「 accidental 」
Sanghyuk gave a half-hearted chuckle at Hongbin’s reply, tucking his chin into his palm. “Plan was just as sudden as your disappearance, hyung?” the brunet murmured, a somewhat tart response of his own. He’d feel bad for that later, but he was unhappy with the circumstances. For how often he was left out, he hated not being in the know. The youngest pursed his lips when the name came up, brows furrowed in thought. “It doesn’t ring a bell… He comes over a lot?”
Considering the youngest did actually work and liked to do the shopping, he and Hakyeon were probably the two at home the least. It wouldn’t be surprising if he hadn’t met this Mark person before, or if he had, it’d been brief, between tasks. Either way, it really hadn’t been associated with a face, so he was rather lost. As usual.
"Well, sometimes… I dunno, I had to ask," Sanghyuk mumbled, flushing a little in embarrassment as he gave up trying to defend himself. But Hongbin’s words rekindled the spark in him, eyes rising to meet his hyung’s own with interest. "Oh? Who though?" Aside from this little escapade, Sanghyuk wasn’t really aware of the list of potential crushes. "What’s she like?" he asked suddenly, lowering his hand to place them both on the table.
"I -- I guess so," he murmured in reply, not meeting the younger's eyes. He was never usually like this, too used to acting the part of the 'cocky hunter' to be acting like this, but he remembered during their talk that one night that Sanghyuk had decided to invade his room, that he had felt left out from everything that their household did, considering he was the youngest. It was too bad that he had to be the one that ran into the runaway that day, but it couldn't be helped now.
Nodding, Hongbin shrugged, taking another gulp of his coffee. "Yeah, he knew Taek-hyung for ages and then I sort of befriended him." He shrugged, leaning back in his chair, fingers drumming lightly on the arm rest. "You probably weren't home all the times he came by? He doesn't stay that long, really," he added after, trailing off. He hadn't told the halfblood that he was leaving that day either, though both halfbloods were at work so he hadn't really had anything to do anyway. He almost felt bad, that so many people had been kept out of the loop of his disappearing and now he was showing up and --
"Aah, she's -- she's really pretty," he stammered, not having come up with an excuse quick enough, the way his mind immediately flickered to Wonshik was a giveaway sigh. Thank God Sanghyuk couldn't read minds or he would be embarrassed into the next century.
Stop it. x
「 cereal killer 」
"Yes, does that surprise you?" the brunette shot back, an amused smile quirking his lips as he watched Hongbin fumble through the drawers for a pair of scissors. "I like efficiency, that’s all. Who do you think keeps Hakyeon on track?" If he wasn’t out hunting, the older man had a tendency to be a little forgetful and rather unorganized ( Wonshik was not a believer in the ‘organized chaos’ Hakyeon claimed to - a mess was a mess was a mess, there was nothing organized about that sort of thing ).
Once he was satisfied that Hongbin was capable of carrying out the rest of his instructions without accidentally flooding the house or something equally disastrous ( and clumsy ), the brunette returned his attention to making the sauce. “Often enough, at least I used to. It’s pretty simple and quick to prep.” He dumped the chopped onion and garlic into the blender, adding the remaining ingredients - vinegar, salt, red-pepper paste, water - before plugging the device in, slapping on the lid, and turned it on high. For a few seconds there was nothing but the sound of loud whirring in the kitchen; even if one of them had something to say the other wouldn’t have been able to hear over the din.
After a minute or so he deemed the mixture ready and poured the resulting sauce into a shallow glass dish. “Go grab a bowl and spoon out how much sauce you want. When the noodles are done just add them on top and mix and you’re done. If you want additional toppings, there’s cucumbers and daikon and left-over beef in the fridge you can add.”
He was scraping out the last of the sauce coating the blender walls when Hongbin finished on his end. Wonshik turned to glance at the still-dripping noodles in the strainer, poking at the mass with a finger before nodding. “Yeah that’s good, just separate out how much you wanna eat and leave the rest in a tupper-ware and put it in the fridge.” If anyone else wanted cold-noodles for dinner, both noodles and sauce would be there for them to put together in their own time. “”
"Not exactly," he replied after a moment's thought, tilting his head to the side. Knowing Hakyeon, the other probably had to be demanding to get him to do anything that he asked considering how ... strange the oldest hunter of their household could be. His train of thought obviously matched with Wonshik's, as right after having thought about it, the exact things he had concluded with were being said straight to him and he shook his head, amused. He had turned his attention back to his part of the meal that he was preparing, and it was with a small smile that he realized he had been given the easiest part of the job that they were doing, yet it was rather important if the meal were to indeed become a meal because everything on the side wouldn't be filling unless it had the noodles.
He fell silent as the whirring of the blender filled the kitchen, not bothering to try to speak over the din as they would probably end up yelling at each other and that wasn't something that he wanted to do. Casual conversation was not meant for screaming at one another over other sounds.
After the blender was turned off and he was given another set of instructions, Hongbin headed to the cupboard and grabbed two bowls -- one for him, and the other for Wonshik if he wanted it -- and placed them both on the counter, out of the way of the other hunter but in reach if he so wanted. "Are you eating?" He asked, raising a curious eyebrow in the other's direction. It would be rather strange if the other hunter had spent all this time, albeit it wasn't that much time but still, making food if he wasn't going to be eating as well. (It wasn't as if Wonshik would go out of his way to make him dinner just because he was eating cereal right? He always ate cereal. This didn't make sense.)
The oldest two of the house (Taekwoon by a few centuries, Hakyeon by a few years) were out at the Ball, and he was pretty sure they wouldn't be coming back hungry. He had passed by the venue earlier that morning, for no reason at all, and he had seen the tables that lined the area that were obviously for the mounds of food that would be served that night and well, Taekwoon obviously didn't even need to eat. He scooped a decent amount of the noodles out of the strainer into his bowl before moving to the side to grab a plastic container to put it in before offering it to the other. "You might as well eat too, you know, considering you made all of this."
「 alcoholic intervention 」
Mark was disappointed he hadn’t witnessed this. He was sure it would have been funny as long as Hongbin hadn’t been drowning. He hoped the other had been alright at that time. He was also sad no one told him. He just shrugged though as he took a sip of the vodka, making a sigh at the taste. He was only drinking because Hongbin wanted him too. Anytime he could spend with the other was good enough for him and if Hongbin wanted to get wasted, Mark would join in. He was just happy with this.
Resting on the couch, he laid back on it, his arm under his head. He stared up at the ceiling as he crossed his ankles over the other. He hummed softly to himself as the other spoke, chuckling a bit, “Fine, fine. You’re the one falling into rivers. I don’t see why you’re mad at me,” he questioned, turning his attention to the other and smiling at him, “Just enjoy the lovely alcohol you have given us.” he got up for a minute to grab one of the bags and rest it next to him so he could eat some more, “Yummy.”
He was definitely somewhere near tipsy now, the chugging of the cup of vodka before the mixed one in his hand had definitely sparked something quickly in the back of his mind. It was a nice feeling, he concluded, before he continued sipping at the cup in his hand. "Don't go bringing that up everywhere now," he sighed, swirling the liquid inside his cup around in circles as he stared forlornly at the ice cubes inside the cup bounce against the sides before bobbing in the alcohol. He wondered if that was fun -- bobbing in the liquid and he almost smacked himself after he realized he was wondering if the ice cubes were having fun inside of his cup.
"You do realize you don't have to get drunk with me right?" Hongbin asked after a moment, realizing that Mark was drinking alcohol with him as well and he was pretty sure he had been told once or something that the other was a lightweight. He grabbed a handful of chips from the bag that his friend had opened before returning it to its spot, his cheeks feeling warm and he was probably sort of pink. Alcohol blush. "I'm definitely going to enjoy this alcohol ... just make sure I don't leave the house. I'll end up waking up ... in the river probably."

[/he manages a quiet, awkward laugh for the sake of keeping up appearances, the smile a little strange on his stiff features. He takes half a step backwards as a (rather pointless) precaution and offers a nod of agreement before he speaks again, voice cracking over the first couple of words] You’re probably right, I might pass out or… something worse. [/the next question, what seems to be an attempt at regular conversation, sort of throws him off and he swallows down hard again, one hand clenching and un-clenching before he stuffs it into his pocket under the guise of casual fidgeting] Uh, not really. I’ve been here maybe… five or six months? I don’t get out much, though. Kind of a shut in. [/he pauses a moment, hoping that it looks like he’s just taking a beat to think instead of trying his very hardest to ignore the regular beat of a pulse, blurting out his next question without much finesse] What’s your name?
[ ` nods, agreeing wholeheartedly with the 'something worse' part of the other's sentence, though he not intending to let the vampire know he's a hunter until it's too late -- too late for the vampire that is, though he also has no intention on killing the vampire unless he's attacked ] Really? [ ` his eyebrows lift up in genuine surprise, no facade here, because he thought he would've noticed the other if he had been there that long. Honestly, he doesn't even look familiar and that's strange ] Oh, ah, okay, that makes sense. [ ` chuckles lightly ] Thought I was going crazy, having been here for more than a year and not having seen you. Fangville is tiny. [ ` concludes that they probably crossed paths but hadn't spoken if he was on a hurry or probably just as easily completely missed each other, and he's not bothered that another vamp has been here without him knowing ] Ah, my name? I'm Hongbin. [ ` hesitates for a heartbeat before extending his hand for the other to shake, a dimpled smile appearing on his face ] And yours?
Hongbin for STAFF KOREA
「 off the clock 」
Not technically, I guess. I won’t say anything if you don’t. (/laughs and shakes his head, then glances at the clock as he rolls the tip of his tongue along his bottom lip.) Hmm… About twenty minutes, or something? Maybe half an hour, depending on whether I’m left here to do the locking up by myself or not?
Why would I ever tell? [ ` widens his eyes dramatically, a gasp escaping his lips before he drops the act of surprise ] Mm ... [ ` thinks for a second, wondering if it's worth it ] Will the kitchen hate me if I order something right now? [ ` blinks innocently at his friend as he walks into the restaurant ] I literally haven't eaten anything all day. [ ` doesn't mention that he literally woke up probably an hour ago ]
