I blame capitalism for me being lonely and that might seem convenient but hear me out. We can never be happy and we always think there is something more valuable and someone more beautiful or generally something better. We won't settle for happiness because we want more. We want it all. And we are ready to leave everything behind to achieve perfection.And we want to see it all because you can't miss anything if you want to be a part of this world so nothing is okay but it HAS to be the best and the nicest and the newest but we won't even settle for that. And I have been watching myself go by episode for episode and I don't bother waiting for the next week to come around with a new 40 minutes of grief but I'm binge watching a season a day for the rest of my life and if that's not good enough for you I can understand but do me the favor and for once do something that makes you happy, no matter how perfect, how beautiful and how good it is.

halte ich inne, weil mir auffällt, dass ich den ganzen Tag noch gar nicht an dich gedacht habe

(das passiert entweder erst am Abend, wenn ich schon im Bett liege oder unterbricht so gegen Nachmittag die tägliche Routine)

ich lächle dann stolz und auch ein wenig beschämt

manchmal

denke ich an dich schon lange vor dem Frühstück

und dann jede Stunde einzweimal, während es mir die Luft abschnürt und der Schlag meines Herzens in den Ohren rauscht bis er aussetzt

I wonder how many people would have fallen in love if they had only spoken to each other. Strangers sitting next to each other on an airplane at night, watching the world grow smaller beneath them. Or in a tiny bookstore filled with old stories, their pages yellowed and dusty with age. Or sitting next to each other at a concert, both wanting to linger in the same note of a song that they think contains a universe. How many strangers have shared lovely, beautiful moments together? How many people would have found the love of their life if they had decided to say something?

Gold Fireflies Dance Through Japanese Enchanted Forest in the Summer of 2016
