Cha Jun Hwan competes at the 2018 Korean National Championships, marking his return to competition after withdrawal due to injury earlier in the season. Cha Jun Hwan has withdrawn from Skate America, summary of article:
Jun Hwan’s injury in the left hip joint, right ankle and knee are not in good condition and his overall condition has worsened. As a result, he submitted a medical certificate to withdraw from Skate America.
He is still training. When Jun Hwan was training in Canada, he was doing quads which may have worsened his hip and ankle injuries.
Jun Hwan is coming back to Korea on 11/22 for treatment.
His current focus is now to prepare for the ranking competition for Pyeongchang Olympic qualifications.

Recent update from KBS’s Sports News about Jun Hwan’s current condition:
Jun Hwan has gotten new skates. His condition is still not at 100%, and he is still working on his quads. He will be heading back to Toronto to train his quads with Brian Orser.
Jun Hwan’s main goal is still to go to to the Olympics in Pyeongchang. Because of this, he will work hard at the Grand Prix events to show a more complete performance.
“I am still working hard, I will take things slowly and come back soon. I think that if i keep practicing the quads earnestly, the probability of success will slowly go up. I hope to be able to show clean performances and compete a competition where I am satisfied with my performance.”

Jun Hwan’s right ankle and hip condition has worsened by a lot. He will be concentrating on recovery.
He has been suffering from ankle pain, and the doctor said that he strained his injury during the ranking competition. He competed the ranking comp while withstanding the pain.
Jun Hwan gave up on competing at the Asian Open, and submitted a medical certificate due to injury. His reps said that he decided to concentrate on this first ranking competition rather than go for the Asian Open because he is not in good physical condition.
Jun Hwan has been injured from last year. In the offseason, he kept racking up injuries due to the quad toe, which worsened his initial injury while creating more problems. His right ankle was inflamed by a lot. This eventually affected his hip as well. The injuries got worse when he couldn’t find suitable boots. He could not recover from this before the competition, and thus had to take part in his worst condition.
As a result, Jun Hwan fell on the quad salchow in the short program and made multiple mistakes in the free skate. He suffered severe pain in the legs and ankle. He also couldn’t stand after the free skate so he didn’t go to the medal ceremony, instead opting to go to the hospital and be treated immediately.
Jun Hwan will take time off for treatment and recovery in Korea, and is planning to rest until the Grand Prix events start. However, he expressed that he will continue to train the quad toe in preparation for the next 2 ranking comps and try his best at them.
