In the JumpStart MMO, player profiles had a "Favorites" section, where players could specify their favorite color, food, music, animal, movie type, and sport. For the favorite food category, several options were "not (something)". This set includes "not anchovies", "not cow tongue", "not fried Twinkies", "not frog legs", "not liver", "not sauerkraut", "not toe jam", and "not vegetables".

Hopsalot and CJ are somewhat unique in that they were portrayed as adults in earlier media, but were retconned to be kids later on. Hopsalot was originally called "Mr. Hopsalot" and was depicted as a schoolteacher in the 90s, and CJ was an uncle to several much younger nieces and nephews in the early 2000s. However, both of them ended up being aged down to be in the same age range as characters like Kisha and Pierre, starting in 2000 (for Hopsalot) and 2005 (for CJ).

Kisha's kindergartner design in the JumpStart 3D Virtual World series, MMO, and related media has pigtails. However, these aren't visible in many 3D renders and 2D illustrations, due to being entirely obscured by her head. (This isn't as much the case with her first and second grade designs, due to her having longer pigtails that are less likely to be entirely obscured).

Pierre has been associated with music for much of the JumpStart series. This began with the Advanced series in 2002, and later carried over to the JumpStart 3D Virtual World series and the JumpStart MMO. Each of these eras also tended to depict Pierre with a particular instrument. In the Advanced series, his signature instrument was a drum, while in the 3D Virtual World series and MMO, his signature instrument was a flute.

Ivy the fairy debuted in the JumpStart 3D Virtual World series. When she was reintroduced in the JumpStart MMO, her appearance was slightly modified. Her dress was changed to be slightly more complex and have more gold trim, and the designs on her wings were changed. In her original appearance, she also had pale blue markings on her left leg and left side of her face, which were removed. She is the only character carried over from the 3D Virtual World series to the MMO to be redesigned, as every other character originating from the 3D Virtual World series (such as Cappy, Isabella, and ZuZu Petals) retained their original designs.

JumpStart 2nd Grade contains an unused image which is a closeup of the state of Idaho (top). Presumably, this was linked to a feature in the game where the player can recieve pen pal letters from different states in the US, during which a map of the country is shown (bottom). The prescence of the unused Idaho closeup seemingly indicates that closeups of each state were initally planned to show up in this part of the game. It isn't clear if the staff only got as far as creating one closeup for Idaho, or if the Idaho image is simply the only closeup that was kept in the game's files.

In JumpStart 1st Grade (1995), the Painting minigame allows the player to create scenes using backgrounds and stickers. The town scene comes with a set of stickers for various buildings, one of which says "Fanfare" on it (top). This is a reference to "Fanfare Software", the name of the studio that developed JumpStart Kindergarten (1994) and JumpStart 1st Grade (1995), which was acquired by Knowledge Adventure in 1995.
