It’s been a while since I actually posted, but I did just get back from NWMX as an NPC and it was a blast!

I really want to go to NWM 11 but I'm not sure which path of study to choose. Cryptozoology and Healing have really similar class sets, but I feel like Healing has is better in this aspect because it has alchemy and herbology and Cryptozoology doesn't. However I want to play a character who is really interested in taking care of magical creatures. Would it make sense for a character interested in that to study healing instead of cryptozoology or would I need to find some other workaround?
Short answer: yes.
Long answer: each path isn’t set in stone, you have a set class schedule to start with, but if you don’t want to go to combat class and would rather go to herbology, you absolutely can! If you want to double major in Crypto and Healing, you can talk to the professors and the staff and make that happen! There was definitely at least one person who double majored in NWM 10, but if you’re going in as a first year I’d recommend just picking one to start with and audit the classes you’re interested in. You can also pick one or the other and have a specialization; Cryptozoology has a Veterinarian type - which is what it sounds like you want to do. It’s entirely up to your comfort level and what you want to do.

hello! im going to be playing in magischola prep (not sure if that’s how I’m supposed to word that) this summer for the first time! anyway, i was curious where you usually keep your wand, like if you have a holster or if you just carry it? thank you!!
Hi! I always carried my wand in my bag, but my character didn’t do as much wand work as others - as an artificer I used a lot of runes and creative spellcasting. Part of my thing was that I always had to dig through my bag for my wand and I would leave it places.
Learn LARP sells wand holsters for the Magischola houses, or you can get ones on etsy or make one yourself! Some people used more creative means to carry their wand, I was gifted a wand holster made out of an old tie, or I would tuck mine into my belt if I was wearing one.
Some people carried extra wands, but some would lose their wands. Be careful how you carry it, since it’s really easy to leave it places or drop it.

I won a scholarship to New World Magischola. This is good news for a number of reasons. I’m a big advocate of trying new games, especially ones in different areas, to see what I can learn from them. I’ve both played in and run a couple of different freeform/Nordic style games, and I’ve run a couple of games with high production values, but it will be interesting to see how Magischola is different. I’ll also get a chance to meet and play with people outside of my local community, and I’ll have a new experience to talk about for the podcast.
With three surgeries in the past two-and-half years, plus my usual monthly medical expenses thanks to being disabled, there was no way I would have been able to afford the trip on my own. I’m glad I’ve been offered the opportunity, and I hope to make the most of it.
