(okay, so a while ago I thought about doing a Rosita/Wynonna version of this post, with Rosita as the part-time fake hitman xD. It's still set in the canon 'verse but circa pre-series, except Rosita had already managed to leave town and she and Wynonna once sorta dated until Rosita realized who she was)
Rosita toasted with her coworkers on lab decanters, celebrating one little step forward in their research. The champagne was cheaper than she would have chosen, but everyone in their lab was too proud to accept Rosita's "family" money for something so frivolous.
She was making headway in convincing them to accept some for funding, at least. She'd tried to do it anonymously, but they hadn't been fooled, the damn spartans.

This AU has been in my head since the end of s2; I come back to it from time to time, and I SWEAR one day I'll publish it xDD
In it, when Waverly tries to cross the town's borders at the end of the season... she can't. Because it turns out she is half-revenant.
This puts a strains in a lot of her relationships and conveniently becomes a bonding point with Rosita, because I'm me xDD. It's not a happy time for poor Waverly. Very angsty fic with a very unhealthy romance LOL.
I’m going with Rosewaves ^-^ (lbr, shadowhunters are basically a militaristic police force already, so this is basically canon xDD).
My brain went straight to a noir-style private investigator context, because those are the detective AUs I really dig. I could see Waverly as a subverted version of the classic noir detective, not at all gloomy and brooding, and Rosita as the femme fatale/Mobster Mob’s “Girl” with a lot to hide behind her façade... probably a lot more involved in said mob that Waverly initially suspected 👀
