That is a very common misconception! It’s true that many, perhaps even most asexuals don’t enjoy sex and don’t want to have anything to do with it. But asexuality is defined by a lack of attraction, not a lack of sex drive or lack of enjoyment.
Food and hunger are helpful metaphors, so let’s put it like this: food is sex, hunger is a sex drive, and food that looks appetizing is attraction. So being asexual means that no food in the world looks appetizing, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you never get hungry, that you don’t like the taste of food, or that you don’t like sitting down to a meal with your partner. That sort of make sense?
There are a lot of different ways to be asexual. Some are sex-favorable, they enjoy it, some are sex-indifferent, they don’t care one way or the other, and some are sex-repulsed, they don’t ever want to be sexually active. There are some who don’t want to so much as kiss anyone, and there are actually some who are hypersexual.
All of the above are totally valid ways to be asexual. :)
