Probably better for baths than tanks since they float on top of the water, buuuut yes, much more of my style of aquarium management!  Just a fuzzy puppy is plenty of real-life pet for me just now.  They'd probably be nice just set in odd places around a bedroom, too, though you'd have to wander around and turn them all on/off.  (And take your time!)

That it is! It's a Jellyfish Gradation Light. They had smaller ones that just lit up, too. At first, the rate at which it lights up was a bit disconcerting, but after a while it's actually rather hypnotic. And it definitely floats in water. We have tested that now.

I may have to try to find a few more; I think they'd be best if you had at least three going at once.

One of the library teens brought me a plate of Christmas cookies and it has just made my day. <3 These teens are the best. So smart, so talented, so thoughtful. Whatever other parts of my job are like, I am so lucky to get to work with these awesome young people.

Oof. No. I love parts of this job. There are some excellent students I get to work with, and I've learned things, and I've had the opportunity to do exciting things. But this part, this part, all the stupid dumb prickly wall won't even listen I make no impact or have any use or point or worth politics--!

All of the effort I've put into the catalog since July is going to disappear. Any mark I might have made is going disappear. I was doing full cataloging, and now I'm abruptly just a copy cataloger again. I put so much into into it and it doesn't matter, and I honestly don't know how I'll find time to do both at once until the systems are merged again.

Three thousand items. I think that's where we're at. Hell. I have to figure out how to do that and my regular work (which will all disappear) and not hate it so much I want to drive off a cliff.

So I'm about to start The Blood of Olympus, but I'm also catching up with the previous series and just started The Titans' Curse, and it's been interesting to "meet" some of the characters I already know from Heroes of Olympus.

Do you have any thoughts on Digimon Adventure Tri and its recently revealed new art style?

HOLY SAME-FACE SYNDROME, BATMAN!

If you’re going to have a large ensemble cast, and the only thing that sets each character apart is their hairstyle, then you have a problem.

I’m still not going to fault it though, just seeing these kids together again is enough to give you this warm fuzzy feeling. It’ll be fun.

The art style reminds me of a lot of the movies--the faces are kind of goopy bland?  I'm not sure if I miss the stick-figure super-unrealistic style of the original series or not. Buuuut where are Joe and Izzy?  Those two are my favorites. =c  (Also Wizardmon~ Maybe they'll do something with him again.)
