( porter stared at him for a minute, and it felt like there were rubber bands contracting his whole chest. he glanced down at juniper, who was already starting to fall back asleep against his arm and back at eagle, stuttering for a moment. )

( porters eyes flickered between eagle and juniper before he swiftly picked her up and sat her against his hip, taking a few deep breaths through his nose before speaking. )

Can I — is she allowed to stay nappin' on the couch? She's all sleepy lately cause she's wakin' up with Calli, we're – I'm lettin' 'er sleep when she can.

( porter sat back, taking a deep breath as eagle switched on the film. he hadn't seen this one, actually — it looked decent enough. might be a nice way to just relax after the past few hours he'd had. )

( porter stayed watching the film for a bit, occasionally rocking the baby in his arms back to rest after her wee wakeups. )

( by the half-hour mark, he himself is starting to get a little drowsy, with him barely retaining any information from the film anymore and focusing more on keeping his eyes open all the way. )

꒰ঌ Eagle pulls up a blanket over his legs, occasionally glancing over at Porter. Movie night it is then. He does owe him for fixing his hands after that fight, so maybe this counts as a thank you. ໒꒱

I really don't get this movie. The wife is clearly nuts, why doesn't he just . . . take the kid and leave?

( porter blinks at eagle before looking back at the screen, head tilted in thought. )

Uh . . . I mean, some people don't leave the toughest situations for the simple reason that they think it'll all end up bein' nothin'.

( porter stared at him for a minute, and it felt like there were rubber bands contracting his whole chest. he glanced down at juniper, who was already starting to fall back asleep against his arm and back at eagle, stuttering for a moment. )

꒰ঌ Why he's invited Porter to stay, he doesn't know quite yet. But it feels wrong letting him go home sad and possibly alone with his kids. ໒꒱

( porters eyes flickered between eagle and juniper before he swiftly picked her up and sat her against his hip, taking a few deep breaths through his nose before speaking. )

Can I — is she allowed to stay nappin' on the couch? She's all sleepy lately cause she's wakin' up with Calli, we're – I'm lettin' 'er sleep when she can.

Oh, of course! I don't mind.

꒰ঌ He smiles, nodding. ໒꒱

( porter nodded, skating back towards the couch and letting her lie to the side against the pillows on the couch. he focused solely on the little engine, rubbing gently at her shoulder as she drifted quickly back to sleep. )

꒰ঌ He glances up at the clock. Shit, it's 6:30. Medicine time. He skates back towards the kitchen a bit. ໒꒱

I'll be right back, gotta go do somethin'.

( porter nodded with a smile, sliding calliope out of his overalls and in his arms instead while he waited for eagle to return, trying to keep both the trainlets asleep. )

You wanna watch anything? Both the girls are asleep so I don't think they need the cartoons.
