I'll also note here that one of the beautiful things about leftism is that our political enemies are only those who have chosen and continue to chose to be our enemies, that the even the most vile, most reactionary person on the planet can (at least theoretically) change their heart and become my comrade in the struggle, or even just go home and get out of my way.

This isn't true of the right. No matter what I do, how much I try to confirm to the right's wishes and demands, the right will eventually try to kill me, no matter what a Black person does, the right wants them dead or enslaved, no matter how much a Palestinian does, the right wants them dead or displaced, no matter how much a worker does, the right wants them starving or, if it comes to it, dead. The right constructs entire groups of people who are inherently their political enemies. Our actions, our beliefs, and our circumstances can only change our prioritization in their list, not place on it.

I might get some hate for this, but "former nazis" are not a problem. If anything, every single one of them is a victory, a person saved from the participation in our eradication and saved for the struggle against it. What is a problem is the actual nazis, the real bigots and terfs and the reactionaries who like to wear progressive masks and use lefty slogans while fighting on the wrong team.

I don't think you or these deconverts would have preferred for them to go through that phase, and I can't blame you for holding them to extra scrutiny and higher standards because of it, but forgiveness is an essential tactic in the struggle for liberation, and at some point you're going to have to try it.

We Didn't Start the Fire pulls from a vast period of modern history, and long lasting cultural events, starting from WW2 without directly referencing it "H-Bomb" and the period around it "Joe DiMaggio".

It also does international events "Dien Bein Phu falls", "England's Got a New Queen" that aren't a part of the USA as well.

Parodies fail because they focus on inconsequential niche events, are geopolitically isolated, or are too narrow. Which on second thought would make for a good parody; a song insisting on a list of important, world changing events and people according to the songwriter, but those events and people are increasingly obscure and it becomes apparent halfway through the song that the person in charge needs to touch grass.

Here's a summary of the Gooseworx situation if you are confused/concerned but don't want to trawl through the nuclear wasteland of this fandom and its haters.

1) 7 years ago, in 2019, Gooseworx used the common slang prefix for evil twins "nega," shortened from "negative" to refer to an evil version of a character, calling it a "nega-Angel."

2) People who actively hate this woman on levels even I struggle to comprehend concluded that this was her engaging in "antiblack racism" because the extremely common term which is used in children's cartoons to this day "nega-verse" sounds, if you aren't paying attention and you have some audio processing issues, a little like the anti-black slur "n*gger."

3) They proceeded to drum up a huge harassment campaign against her, using a handful of Black bloggers as meat-shields to feel righteous about their actions.

4) Her dipshit fuckhead fans then immediately began engaging in actual anti-Black racism against the above mentioned Black bloggers, and claiming they were doing so in defense of Gooseworx.

5) Gooseworx condemned the dipshit racist chucklefucks from point 4, pointing out that edgy humour used in private with trusted friends to make a mockery of racist shitheads is the exact opposite of engaging in hateful racist attacks on her behalf in fucking public. Though, frankly, calling "nega-verse" an 'edgy racist joke' is already an enourmous stretch, but good on her for cutting the dipshit fans off at the knees.

6) The harassment campaigners from point 3 had already managed to get enough eyes on her to get her spam-banned anyway, as evidenced by her account not having the "deactivated" suffix which appears in voluntary deletions.

So that's where we're at.
