With the passing of Pope Francis there will be those who take this opportunity to spit vileness not at our late pontiff but also at our church. Many of these will claim to be Catholics.

Pope Francis was the bishop of Rome, ordained by God to succeed the Pope’s before him to the seat of Saint Peter. God genuinely worked through him. Yet there are those who make idols of their political ideologies and deny the reality, deny the very basis of our church.

But he was also a man, flawed but loved by God. Honour him, pray for his soul. Pray for the future of our church. And do not harden your heart.
