“I am okay.” he said, concern evident on his features as his eyes fell on her. “What about you?” She didn’t seem too well, and she was right, he had been rather busy but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t have time for her. “Did you eat?” he asked her, it was a something he had gotten used to asking her whenever he couldn’t have meals with her. “Brie, it’s not your job to take care of people, okay? There are enough healers and nurses down at the hospital doing their jobs. Your job is to keep yourself safe, you understand?” He sighed a little when the other began to worry about him, wrapping his arms around her in a hug. “I am fine, and so are you. You shouldn’t be worrying about anything else, Brie.”
“I wasn’t there, Stefan. I’m perfectly well.” She said with a confused look, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. And then came his question about her eating. It made her cringe visibly, like the question pained her. It was a reminder that, no, she hadn’t eaten, but that she had to lie to her brother about it because he worried. “Yes,” She looked away, ashamed of his question and her answer. It made her feel small and not in a good way. “I just wanted to cheer people up and make sure my friends and you and Sebastian were okay.” The witch tried to explain. It gave her something to focus on other than the guilt of what had happened and how useless she felt. Still, when her brother hugged her, she squeezed him back tightly, but tried to keep in a big breath and make herself feel bigger to him. At least her layered clothing added a bit of thickness. “I am glad we’re okay, but I want everyone to be okay, Stefan.”
