As soon as his shift at the movie theater was over he was out of the door and walking passed all those waiting in line for a ticket to a late night movie. He was lucky he'd been able to work his schedule around school, otherwise he would've been completely screwed. The way it worked was that he could have gotten home, done his homework, ate, and took a shower, and been in bed by eleven. However, Gage didn't really do homework, so he usually filled that time up with smoking one last time before bed or watching tv. Tonight his plans were different, though.

He hopped into the driver's seat and immediately checked to see if he'd left Val's jacket where she left it or brought it inside after he dropped her off. Sure enough, it was still laying in the same spot in the passenger seat. 

He almost smoked on his way over, but decided it would probably seem gross to the girl he liked if he showed up smelling like pot, so he pretended his pocket was empty and focused on his driving. He barely remembered where she lived and probed his brain at every turn, trying to remember bringing her home a few days ago. One second he was certain he was going to the right place, the next he was sure he wasn't. Eventually, he saw her house coming up. Doing as he promised, he came to a stop before he reached it and pulled out his cell phone, sending her a message that read "Okay, I'm here." Before tossing it back on the console.

He had forgotten to turn off the alarm on his phone that woke him up for school, so it woke him up at seven o' clock in the morning on a Sunday. He tried to fall back  asleep, but it seemed even with the head ache and the feeling of grogginess swallowing him whole he couldn't, so he pulled himself out of bed and went straight to his closet. He grabbed the Altoids tin that hadn't contained actual Altoids in over two years, and popped the lid open. Thanking himself for rolling an extra joint the day before, he shoved it into his pocket and grabbed a lighter off his bed side table. He couldn't help checking to see if his brother had made it home on his way to the back yard. Even if the boy had completely turned on him, they were family. He didn't have to like him, but he did have to love him.

After smoking, he sat outside and stared at the morning sky for a few minutes, enjoying the fact that it never really got to a freezing temperature in Dover Hills. After a while, he felt his stomach growling so he ran into the kitchen. He opened the fridge and searched for anything that was quick to make, and was startled when his brother's voice sounded through the otherwise quiet room. "Going to the party was your idea, you know. You could have at least driven me home." He closed the fridge and his eyes found the boy. Blonde bed head and still sleepy blue eyes looked back at him, and he scoffed. "Yeah, well, that was before I knew you were talking shit on me to everyone." He said, and quickly added "Why was it such a big deal that one of your friends had to bring you home? Obviously you are comfortable enough talking to them, I'm sure it wasn't that hard to bum a ride."
