After 2 months of bad weather, i am finally back shooting astro. Right now my target is the horse head nebula. I am using a 7nm H-alpha filter. #astrophotography #astronomy (em Caxias do Sul)
I decided to to put together all data of the Tarantula Nebula that i could gather so far. This is the result. 20 subs of 10 minutes each at ISO 200. This is a very resumed list of my technical data. 1. I run my mount straight from my laptop, no hand controller. I use EQASCOM drivers and the excellent EQMOD project software. 2. My planetarium software is Cartes du Ciel, it talks straight to EQMOD to point my scope to my chosen target. 3. I use Astrotortilla, an absolutely remarkable piece of software. It centers my target in the frame with 1 arc minute precision with one click. 4. PHD 2 is my choice of guiding software, i use a QHY5L-II monochrome camera and an off axis guider, with an 0.5x focal reducer on the camera. Off Axis are tricky to use, hard to focus, and can vignette a corner of your images, but it virtually eliminates the flexure problem. 5. I am a DSLR guy (for now), so i must use BackYardEOS, one of the best camera controller softwares ever made! My current camera is a Canon T2i Full spectrum that i modified by myself. 6. My telescope is a 10" Newtonian, it really can capture a lot of photons, but it haves coma, an undesired feature that makes the stars at the edges of the frame looks like seagulls. That's why i use a GSO coma corrector. 7. My area have moderate to heavy light pollution, to overcome this issue i use a Otplong L-Pro light pollution filter. This is a totally reworked version of my Trifid nebula shot taken June 2016. Improved Pixinsight techniques brought out a whole lot of detail, even some dark nebula outside the core is visible. Another night imaging NGC 3324, but now included in the frame the beautiful open cluster NGC 3293. The red nebulosity is a corner of the huge Carina Nebula. This was 4 hours of integration time with terrible seeing conditions and full moon. This is NGC 3324 open cluster and IC 2599 emission nebula. Located in the constelation of Carina, its also known as Gabriela Mistral Nebula. NGC 2070, Also known as 30 Doradus or Tarantula Nebula, located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. You can see among the nabulae and countless stars, at least 4 globular clusters and many open star clusters.
