°•| The Fallen Kingdom |•°
The separation of our once peaceful world divided into two as one half crumbled in despair, blood and dust. The other rose with an iron fist, clutching the still-beating heart of our mighty warriors. Our power could never beat theirs, and yet, we still fought for our lives and freedom. The skies were blackened with gargantuan storm clouds, only shedding light as the slash of lightening struck the earth. Thunder ripped through the deafening silence and sprung our souls to life, filling them with adrenaline and fear. The battle field was already cemented with our dust and their blood from our previous battles, but this time, this almighty conflict would declare who shall rule the surface world once and for all as the unfortunate are forced out of the light forever.
Our King, King Asgore, refused to let the humans take our pride and dignity. His armour - golden to signify his leadership for monster-kind. It was scarred from multiple attempts on his life as his mauve, draping cape was torn and snagged. He held out his large, monstrous paw in front of him and within an instant, a crimson flare extended into his mighty trident. Asgore slit the air to one side with his newly emerged weapon. A radiant mark hovered in place before him, and just in a few moments, Asgore gathered his strength and blasted it towards the humans with incredible speed and strength.
The battle had finally begun.
Time had flown by and we were losing. The humans and sorcerers combined were too powerful for us. Death, blood, dust, slashing and hacking of weapons. There was so much of it. It all started to weigh me down, the sight of my fellow comrades being brutally slaughtered by these... Monsters. Everything felt as if it were in slow motion. So much death. So much suffering. The screams of my kind echoed inside my head, adding onto the unreal truth. All I could hear now was my soul beating slowly like a drum on a countdown. Finally, I turn back around only to find that time sped back up and a blade struck my right eye, leaving a deep wound from the top of my lid to the bottom of my jaw. Everything was blank for a moment as I screamed in pain, allowing my dark, warm blood to seep out of my skull. My knees gave out and I collapsed to the floor in shock from the indescribable pain. I looked down and watched the blood trickle off onto my tattered armour. My armour was near enough destroyed from the amount of blows of weapons reflected off of it. It was stained with both blood and dust; my own, those beasts called humans, and my comrades. At last, I gathered back my senses and wielded my iron sword, standing quickly and slashing the human before me. They fell, allowing their armour and body to crash upon the solid and uneven ground. Their body twitched as they stuggled for their last breath, but alas, they lay still from bloodloss. In the distance, King Asgore signals for or kind to retreat into the nearby mountain's catacombs. He know we were losing, and couldn't affort to let the humans slaughter us like pigs in line to die. Lightning struck once again, followed by thunder roaring through the battle cries of the humans as they hunt us down while we fled. The fires illuminated our paths to safety under the brobdingnagian mountain. I ran even though I was close to collapsing, God I ran so fast to avoid the attacks of the mighty sorcerers. We all scrambled and pushed on into the mountain as we protected our young and bystanders. Moments after we escaped into the mountain, the seven almighty sorcerers sealed us in with a powerful spell so we could never see the surface world again. The battle was lost, but we were safe at last sealed underneath this retched mountain.
Hours had passed, and I was sat in a corner away from the others. The catacombs were cold and dark, completely untouched until now. The faces of the ones I couldn't save haunted my mind. My body was weak as my bones were cracked, scarred and bruised. Everything hurt so much. I held out my skeletal hand and conjured a faint, purple, luminescent ball. My magic was weak from using too much against the humans. How were they so much more powerful than us? It intrigued me; drawing me in like a cat with a piece of string. Curious. So very curious.
Screams broke my concentration, a woman and a child were screaming for help. "HELP! A HUMAN! HELP PLEASE!" Their screams of terror soon silenced. A human!? Did they follow us in here!? I swiftly summoned my weapon once more and used my power to pass though a gateway to their location. It was too late. The woman and her child lay dead on the ground, slowly turning to dust. But, just beside them, a human stood with a bloodied mace. Rage flooded my system like a fire spreading through a forest. I bolted forward and leaped into the air with my weapon held high.
"YOU HUMAN SCUM!"
My eyes were burning bright with blazing purple magic. I slammed myself down along with my weapon. The blade penetrated the soft flesh of the human's shoulder left down to the right side of their thorax. Their blood spurted out as they looked at me with their faded and puffy eyes. I could see fear, but also relief in their eyes and expression... Did they want this? The blade of the sword slid out of the large gash, causing the human to crash to the ground in their heavy, iron armour. Other monsters ran to the scene and paused at the sight of the woman and child who were still dusting, and also the human who lay dead. From amongst the crowd, a tall monster stood out and stared in horror at the two bodies of the mother and daughter.
"Clara...? Angelica...? N-no... It can't be true...! THIS CAN'T BE REAL."
The monster dropped to his knees while tears streamed down his face in disbelief. I turned and stepped forward.
"I... I'm so s-"
Before I could say another word, the monster stood up and darted towards me, impaling my thorax close by my soul with his blood-stained sword. His eyes were filled with grief, heartbreak and rage.
"You could have SAVED THEM. WHY DIDN'T YOU SAVE THEM!?"
I couldn't say anything, my mind was racing with different messages and senses. Pain, anger, sadness, betrayal. Blood forced its way up through my gullet, caused it to spill out as I splutter and gasp for air. After a few moments, the monster threw me to the ground, creating a larger tear to my new wound.
The monster was tackled down and restrained as a crowd of others gathered around me. All I could feel was my armour being removed and the sharp pain of hands against my wounds. My vision became blurry. I couldn't hear properly. I could hear Asgore bellowing far in the distance, echoing. Everything started to become dark, as if I was falling into the void of sleep. I couldn't feel anything. I was so tired...
Was this it?
Is this what death felt like?
I wasn't ready to go. My sons... My two gorgeous boys... Sans, please, take care of your brother... And just so you know...
I love you.
To be continued...
