HI so I have the joy of telling you all that I got to contribute my artwork to my friend Saphs' ( @saphssapphire ) KAFU Machine Love cover MV for KAFU's 5th anniversary!!

It was a collaborative project involving a lot of talented artists (including some of my mutuals on here!!) and it's an actual honour getting to be a part of such a big project like this <3

What if Mirror Dan was able to leave the mirror world and become his own person..?

Slight Mirror Dan redesign and rename!

The mirrorverse is one of my favourite things in Bakugan Gen 2, it's so fascinating to me and GODS I wish we'd seen more of it, there's so much going on there that would've been so interesting to explore in canon </3

I tried to mostly stick to how he canonly looks for the design as it's not really a "redesign" but more of an idea of who he could be if he was given the chance to be more than just Dan's copy, but the idea of him having split heterochromia with a combination of mirror grey and jade green was too perfect to resist,, I've put an edited screenshot of this headcanon for his eyes underneath the cut!

About the name

Jade (from the word jaded or a gemstone that brings fortune and luck) Dorian (from the sea, associations with Dorian Gray which has themes of duality and the influence of others)

It links to his character as Jade is Aquos (sea) and shows a more jaded/cold side to his personality occasionally (such as in AA 47), which contrasts a lot with his usual timid nature (duality) he's also influenced by the real AB to change and become more confident in himself. Fortune and Luck could be seen as ironic OR in reference to how he was lucky to meet the real AB and get the chance to change and improve his situation with the other mirror ABs!

I have names and ideas for some of the other Mirror AB members!! Should I draw them too???

He picked up another piece, desperate to clean it so it wouldn't stain this time. Desperate to do something right. It too was quickly covered in red."

A while ago I saw a post talking about how sometimes unaddressed implications are so much more powerful than things that are explicitly addressed and confirmed in media, and the first thing that came to mine was this scene from the Battle Planet episode A Devil on Your Shoulder. To me, this scene always read like a metaphor for suicide, something I addressed in my retelling of this scene in Of Puppet Strings and Broken Shards.

Magnus is an interesting character for so many reasons, but I especially find it interesting how he spends all of Battle Planet being used and manipulated like a puppet, first by AAAnimus and then - far more literally - by Tiko. But then throughout Armored Alliance he goes on to truly become his own person, free and out of anyone's control. This arc of his is one of the things I like and appreciate the most about his character and writing throughout the series, it's done really well and it really goes to show how great this series is imo!!

The thing where one character is an optimist and the other is a pessimist, and something happens that just, snuffs the hope right out of the optimist, and the pessimist has to desperately try to do what the other has always done for them, cheer them up. The OBSESSION with identity is so crazy like the view that when you do something it immediately becomes part of your identity and all the parts of you have to click together to become “person who wakes up early” or “person who reads” no you can literally just do something without restructuring your whole performance of personhood around it. I don’t know what to tell you except that you will never be able to have an entirely unfractured view of yourself or that you will be able to rationalize all the complex parts of yourself into the phrase “person who x” like you should just be doing things without performing them. Or aestheticizing them. Just try different things on and keep what works for you. Otherwise you will never learn and grow!
