We talk a lot about Mickey being the little spoon. But what are the occasions where Ian is the little spoon?
oh yes. oh very yes. debs, you make me think my favorite thoughts and i appreciate that about you ✨
i'm thinkin it's someone's birthday - carl's maybe? - and they had a really good time at the party. ian had three whole beers and an extra slice of cake. he's riding high until they get in the cab home, and then he's instantly pouty and miserable. and he knows full well he'll be even worse off tomorrow, so he's cranky and anxious and he doesn't want to go to sleep. mickey walks him through the bedtime routine, even though he's three sheets to the wind himself. then he corrals ian into bed and curls up around him, promising he'll take care of him in the morning.
or perhaps... idk, something scares him. ian wakes up in the middle of the night to ten missed calls from lip and he thinks something terrible has happened. he has a few minutes of icy panic before he finally gets a hold of lip - and the fucker had just locked himself out of his house. but ian has a hard time settling down after that, he's too worked up and a little angry. so mickey pulls him in and cuddles him close, rubbing a hand up and down his arm to soothe him back to sleep.
on december 18th, before the sun comes up - mickey wakes up and maneuvers ian so he's the little spoon. he holds ian, breathes him in, to remind himself that this is his life. and that way, when ian blinks awake and remembers what day it is, he can wriggle back against mickey and immediately know that he's not alone.
