Bigger Than Us is a short animated movie that will raise awareness about ocean protection. | Check out 'Bigger Than Us - the short animated film' on Indiegogo.
Hello everyone!
Today is probably one of the most important days of our project. As you know, we have been working on writing the scenario, finding visual references for the landscapes and working on a communication campaign for a few months now. After all these preparations, it is time to enter a new stage in our project. That is why we can now announce that…
….our crowdfunding campaign is live!
As you know, producing a movie - even a short one - is expensive. So far, we have financed the pre-production costs. Today, we are asking for your help to finance the production process. This process basically covers the “biggest” work, such as the development of the animation, backgrounds and lightning. In order to get this done, we need to hire several artists for a total cost of around €25000. If you donate to our campaign today, you will directly help us to pay these talentful people and contribute to an increasing awareness of marine pollution, its impact on wildlife and the things every human can do to fight this problem.
Marine pollution is a very serious issue. Marine wildlife suffers from our behaviour, so we must act and make as many people as possible aware about this. In addition, healthy oceans are an important key to a healthy planet in general. We as humans - yes, you too - can simply not afford to ignore this problem.
If you support our campaign today, you contribute directly to a better world for tomorrow. And because we really appreciate your help, we have a set of great rewards for anyone who contributes. If you donate €50, we will donate €10 to our partner Seal Rescue Ireland.
So, there is only one thing left for you to do: check out our crowdfunding campaign, and help us today!

We have a BIG announcement to make.. the French voice of JULIA ROBERTS is going to join the Bigger Than Us’ cast!
Sounds incredible? Well, it actually is. But we do have a great casting announcement to make and yes, she is actually involved!
We have had confirmation that Céline Monsarrat will be the voice of one of the main characters of Bigger Than Us, namely Sedna, the Goddess of the Seas. Many among you - at least those outside France - may not have heard of her, so here is a profile with some highlights of Céline’s career.
Céline’s voice is known to the general public in France since the early eighties, when she started doing the French voice for Smurfette in the Smurfs animated series. In 1997, she did the voice of Anastasia in Don Bluth’s and Gary Goldman’s movie named after the same character (a personal favorite of our producer). In 2003, in another animated movie, Céline gave a French voice to Dory in the movie Finding Nemo.
Céline also has an impressive career in traditional theatre, where she has played many roles as an actress in roles all over France. In addition, she has written numerous pieces herself. Céline is also known as the voice of many commercials and several radio stations in French-speaking countries.
But, and that is probably what we are most proud of as a team, Céline is known as THE French voice of Julia Roberts. In total, Céline did Julia Robert’s voice over 30 times in movies that include Gary Marshall’s Pretty Woman (1990), Steven Spielberg’s Hook (1991), Roger Mitchell’s Notting Hill (1999) and Paul John Hogan’s Julianne (1997).
Yes, that is an impressive list and that’s why we were really proud Céline was glad to participate in our project as soon as we asked her whether she would be interested.
We will soon come up with more announcements about our cast, team and the project itself, so do not forget to follow us! By the way, did you know we have a newsletter you can subscribe to? Just have a look here!

Nous avons une grande annonce à faire.
La voix française de JULIA ROBERTS va rejoindre le casting de Bigger Than Us!
Cela semble incroyable?
Cheers,
The team of Bigger than Us
We are finally here, Bigger than Us is live!
We guess many of you do not know what Bigger than Us is about. So here is a quick introduction to our short animated movie project and our goals.
Bigger than Us is a movie project created by Aurelie Garnier, a French filmmaker with a big heart for the ocean. Aurelie worked as a volunteer in a seal rescue center in Ireland in early 2019. This is where she saw firsthand the impact of daily human behaviour on marine wildlife.
Ocean pollution is a subject more and more people are aware about. A quick look on Facebook, any news website or here in Tumblr is enough to see how much our oceans are polluted with plastics, discarded fishing nets and other litter, once thrown away by some human somewhere on earth.
But still, despite all the initiatives taken by people all over the world, Aurelie felt more should be done. Seeing seals being ill or severely wounded because they ate a chips bag or became strangled in a fishing net is something horrifying to see. This is where the idea to make an accessible movie about the sufferings of marine wildlife came from. The movie had to be understandable to anyone, even children.
So here we are today. No, we do not have a movie yet. We are just starting to join the growing movement of people all over the world who have decided to do something about ocean pollution and make the world a better place. Today we want you to join this movement. Because every single individual, yes - you too, can make a difference.
In the past weeks and months, we have worked hard to write a script, develop the characters and design landscapes. We have gathered a team of talented artists with a firm determination to stop ocean pollution. Today is the moment to start sharing our project with the public, and ask your help to make this happen.
In the coming weeks and months, we are going to share much more information about Bigger than Us. We will give you a few exclusive previews of how the movie is going to look like, and help you to discover some interesting associations who are working daily to protect our oceans and its wildlife.
In September, we are going to start a large fundraiser to make this project happen. And of course, we are going to need YOUR help! Here is what you can do to join the movement right now: first, of course, follow us and spread the word about Bigger than Us. Also, if you know someone (an organisation for example) who may be willing to support us by telling their network about us, we would be really grateful to know about them. You can also subscribe to our newsletter right here and stay up to date about this project.
We are at a crucial point in our history. One of the most unique ecosystems in the world is in desperate need of help. Join the movement today!

“When Rainn’s on the exercise ball bouncing up and down, and I come over and I stab it with the scissors. In every other take we did, I stabbed it and it just slowly goes down. And the camera angle was that he just slowly ducked behind the thing and it was incredible. On the last take they were like “do one more.” And I remember going over and I went “boom”! And I must have hit the seam or something. And it exploded. He hit the ground as hard as I’ve ever seen a human hit the ground. If you go back and watch that episode, I just dive out because I am crying laughing.” - John Krasinski
