Every one of you that isn't a trans woman, listen for just a sec.
Have you seen The Matrix? Do you remember the film? Keanu Reeves, leather trenchcoats, bullet time, all that jazz? If you haven't or if you need a refresher, go watch it. It's 2hr16min long, I'll wait. I'll be here when you get back.
Done? Great flick, right? Enjoy your popcorn? Cool. Alright. Now hear me out.
Y'know how the Agents could turn over anyone who isn't Unplugged™️? How every faceless person in the movie could become someone intent on hunting down and killing trans women Neo and the rest of the unplugged humans? You are that person. Society will use you and your blind spots to harm trans women.
Y'know how towards the end of the movie, Cypher betrayed everyone so he could plug back in and enjoy the relative comfort of a life without knowing about the Matrix? You can do that. You always have that option. Society will always reward you for turning on trans women.
You can also just be an Agent, full stop. You can make it your life's work to ruin the lives of trans women, and Society will reward you for it.
I can't be any of these things. I can't plug back in. I can't go back in the closet. I can't unsee the way me and my sisters are treated. My only two options are live and fight, or die.
I feel like I have to treat everyone around me like one of the three things you can be. I cannot and will not feel safe around you until you prove to me that you are Unplugged™️. And to be unplugged is to fight.
You have to make your own life more uncomfortable by actively fighting transmisogyny even when there are no trans women around you. If you can't do that, you are not safe for me.
Living outisde of The Matrix is hard. It's uncomfortable. You need to be ready, willing, and able to deal with that discomfort. Otherwise, you're just an agent of the system waiting to happen.
There is no way to be passive and to be safe for trans women. You have to be a traitor to the system.
new robot, same opinions. fix your hearts of die
Not all cis people know this, so context:
The writers/directors of The Matrix are trans women. They didn't come out until after the original movie was made, and it was the 90's, so the metaphors seem subtle to cishet people, but The Matrix is entirely a metaphor for being transgender.
The sense of wrongness Neo feels in the opening of the movie is gender dysphoria. Unplugging from The Matrix is the realization that you can buck the system and transition and be your authentic self.
The Wachowskis intended the character of Switch to be played by a male actor in the real world, and a female actor inside the Matrix, but Warner Brothers told them they couldn't do that, so they made the character androgynous and nonbinary instead.
The "red pill" is Premarin, which at the time was the estrogen medication used by trans women for HRT, and the "blue pill" is Prozac, to help you forget something is wrong and stay in the Matrix.
it's cool how a cornerstone of queer history that everyone simply must love and appreciate is wildly transmisogynistic, the creator deeply despises trans women, and if one criticizes it in any way twelve thousand TME queers will crawl out of the woodwork to chide you for how "progressive it was for its time" and how "you just need to let people love things" and "really it says something about you that the transmisogynistic caricature made by a known transmisogynist that turns to the camera to say "I am trans" three times is being read as meant to be trans"
you are white before you are trans and i feel like some of y'all forget that
you have got to stop worrying about being the hottest person at the grocery store and start shoplifting ‼️

Are you winning Lain?
Every day of pride so far has been completely insane
Happy pride to black trans people in particular I know it can be tough out here with how often the image of what and who counts as always seems to never consider us

Forcefem was a huge part of what helped me realize I'm trans and convince me to transition. I would always come across forcefem stuff and think "god, I wish that were me." Then someone told me "cis men don't wish that they were women" and it all clicked.
And I think all these chuds that claim forcefem is "tRaNsAnDrOpHobiC" know that. Especially since the stuff made by trans women makes it extremely explicit that the message is "it's ok to want to be a girl, you don't have to spend the rest of your life in misery pretending to be a man." It's extremely obviously not directed at trans men.
But transmisogynists view any trans woman that actually escapes the eggshell/closet as a tragedy, so they want to stop anything that helps us do so. They'd rather see a million dead closeted trans women than a single one of us happy and thriving as ourselves.
Going through androgenic puberty as a teenager caused me horrific trauma. Especially when my voice changed. If you're not transfem you really don't understand, it's literally body horror as your own voice warps into something you don't recognize.
And when I'm around transmascs excitedly talking about their voices changing that trauma and dysphoria all comes back up. But you know what? I don't say shit because thats a me-problem that has nothing to do with them and they deserve to celebrate finding joy in their transition.
I just wish more of them would afford us the same courtesy instead of telling us to stop talking about the things we do to celebrate our transitions because it makes them "dysphoric." Like forcefem. But, of course, what else is more manly than telling women to shut up in order to make men happy.
I love you black men
drug addicts deserve housing, food, water, and healthcare btw
For the purposes of statements like "You shouldn't base your understanding of queer politics purely on what you've experienced online," Seattle counts as online.
If it's a place where you could be recognized as a niche Tumblr microcelebrity by strangers, you're still online.
And btw if your examples of Real Queer Experiences only extend to the borders of the United States of America you're still part of the wider prolem of queer discourse being turbo-US-centric.
