a shared pride for their city came in the form of gossip, throwing around sump slang and tech terms passerby could barely decipher --- normally, ekko would go on about his most recent endeavors… which of the array of snobby elitists he happened to embarrass or full-on ruin the other day as a vigilante of zaun, or something he had tested out in the field concerning his gadgets.
they’d talk tech to extremes, of course, both were brilliant with their inventions and machine-melded minds, but in the end they’d always land back on home. she was a seasoned wanderer, so the longing was there to breathe in the memories with a friend --- whereas ekko was only getting started in his lengthier travels, so the taste of zaun was still fresh with him.
zaunites were born like fireworks, their sparks searing and radiance contagious, radioactive. well, maybe not normal fireworks --- a zaun exclusive touch of awesome, ekko mused. most fireworks weren’t meant or able to destroy the skyscrapers that loomed above.
‘ ——–hey! ‘ she always brought a smile to his face, even if it was small, just with her pure energy alone. it was a pleasant surprise seeing her, but more was yet to come if the parcel she carried meant anything. ekko immediately exaggerated some light betrayal, pointing to her in an offended gesture. ‘ wait wait wait --- not fair, we said no gifts. we’re too broke for this. ‘
stubbornly, he stepped back two paces. she’d have to shove it in his hands if she wanted him to take her gift.
though she traveled far and away, she still wore her zaunite status with pride. whether it be the constant vibrancy of her hair or the fact that she refused to change her style so evident even when in bilgewater? wren would never change or give in to something that she didn’t see as her. she was called many things when in bilgewater ; things like scrapper, slummer, and so on --- which she found to be particularly interesting given, in her opinion, it wasn’t all that different... all save the lack of fashion sense, humming hextech and the signature glow of industry.
❛ good thing then, ❜ she gives a little huff, ❛ --- that i made you this gift. ❜
petulance easily sets on her features at his response, of course she far from blames him for it. they had indeed agreed that they would exchange no gifts. even working in bilgewater, even working for sara? money was scarce. not that she was not paid well for her work, but a good lot of what she earned? she used to keep working on the syren ; to keep it updated and keep it in good shape... not to mention, though amita was a wonderful healer, she could not fix injuries that had been messily sorted before her arrival. wren had become the one for that --- hextech made for good prosthetics.
❛ hmph --- you really gonna give me shit for making something for you, ekko? ❜ her brow raised pointedly to mirror the attitude in her words and the cadence of her voice ; one hand settling softly at her hip. the only betrayal of her sentiments is a small quirk of a grin just shy of playful upturning the corners of her lips.
