some fern embroidery for spring <3

i’m going to an ostara celebration today! this is the second time that i’ve embroidered ferns, and i’m happy with how it turned out. i started with a darker green and integrated a lighter color as i got closer to the ends of the fronds to create a gradient :)

Also a great example of why pink is a tint of red, but also a completely different color. Erbium? Neodymium? So beautiful.

Manganese was one of the additives originally included to produce clear glass by neutralizing the greenish color cause by (cheap) iron rich sands! It was obviously later discovered that it turns purple (amethyst) with extended exposure to sunlight. It's also called solarized glass.

a woman wanted me to let her know if I had a particular item in storage, and she went to get a card out of her purse and went ‘oh no. I’m out of my work cards, I’m so sorry about this’ and handed me this:

apparently her husband made them for her as a joke but then she just had like 300 of them so they’re her backups when she runs out of her real business cards.
