Been really quiet around here, but since my recovery from a back fracture I've been busy working on stuff for MCM Comic Con in London, which is next week! Here's my lineup:

Cassandra on friday, with a small part of the Inquisition Squad. On saturday it's Lagertha for the Vikings meetup, Cassandra with the Squad, and on sunday I'm bringing fem Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy.

I'd been doubting between Jax and Domino, but with Lagertha and Cass already being pretty flashy, I figured I'd bring Jax in stead as that costume hasn't seen a convention yet. Anyone on here going there too?

And with a new year comes a nice new costume plans list, for 2016! Some of the 'in progress' ones are nearly finished, while others still require a fair bit of work. The only ones I have deadlines for are Cassandra and Lagertha; those two are set to be finished before MCM London in May, but hopefully I'll have Lagertha finished before Dutch Comic Con at least. Aside from these, I will also still be finishing Milady De Winter (from BBC’s The Musketeers), and both designing and making a special outfit for Cassandra for a themed photoshoot. No set date yet, but that will definitely happen. Let's hope this will be a productive year! Did a makeup test for Cassandra today. The wig still needs cutting, styling and the braid added on top, obviously, and this test was just to see what works in terms of makeup, but there’s a few things I’m definitely keeping for the real deal. Which brings me to the announcement that I’ve decided to get DA:I Cassandra done for MCM London in May. Happy noises from me, much disgusted noise from Cass :P

What I’m working on while my back is broken in two places (oh yes, I look fine and can still walk but that’s about it)? Female Jax Teller, that’s what. There’s a lot of work left, like weathering the cut and patches, working on the rings and tattoos, and the plaid I’m wearing is a substitute for the actual shirt, but lookey lookey, it’s a Teller :P

Costume Updates/Plans!

Since it's been a little quiet on here, here's a small update to let you know I'm still alive and to update you on the projects I'm working on, so you'll know what to look forward to wink emoticon

- First and foremost, I'm working on my friend's commission of American McGee’s Alice. This includes a prop and work on the boots (as well as the full dress and skull pin and such, of course) and I want to get all of that done before Abunaicon, so that's priority.

- Lagertha 2.0, of course! The basic outfit is finished, my shield needs a bit of repainting after all the training I've done with my horse and I now own a Viking sword---so basically, the most work I'll be doing is the leather corset and the chainmail. Corset basis is mostly finished, but detailing and staining needs to be done and chainmail needs to be added. Deadline is Winter London Film & Comic Con in November.

- I'll also be doing a Ragnar commission for a dear friend of mine. What, you didn't think I was gonna have a man at my side? tongue emoticon Shhh, let's not talk about marital status there. Deadline's the same as Lagertha 2.0, though probably earlier of course.

- Jax Teller, female version. Oh yes, this is happening. Since I wanted the patches to be as accurate as possible, I've ordered them (all of them, including the Opie one), but I'll be making most of the rest of the outfit. In case I know any photographers who live in the Netherlands or will be there at some point and who know a 'bike owner or own one themselves...contact me. Promise it'll be worth your time.

- I have a photoshoot with Lagertha's season 3 outfit coming up, probably in October...with my horse, my sword and shield and birds of prey. Keep your eyes peeled, this is gonna be awesome.

- Daenerys' white dress with the black necklace from last season. Don't really have a deadline for this, so I'll probably take it easy on that one.

- Faora from Man of Steel. It's been a while since I started this project, and now I finally have the materials to finish it, thanks to Proptimum's awesome gift card that I won in the Galaxy Masquerade at Imagicon. No deadline for this either, but I have a Zod who's also making his stuff, so expect to see us teaming up for a shoot or convention at some point next year or the year after that.

- Dragon Age: Inquisition Cassandra and Dragon Age: Origins Morrigan. Those of you who follow my shenanigans on my personal page know that I've been obsessing over DA lately (when haven't I? I just have these attention shifts sometimes :P), and I really want to get started on these projects. Haven't determined when, though.

- Domino and Rocket are getting updates, Gambette might too at some point in the future. Domino because I've cut up her bodysuit to make her Cable & X-Force outfit and I want to make her suit from X-Force: Sex and Violence, Rocket I was never really satisfied with and I managed to burn a giant hole in my Gambette corset. Oh yes, don't ask. Really. It's embarrassing.

So there you have it! Loads of talk. For those of you who read all of this: which of these projects are you most looking forward to? If there's a lot of enthusiasm for projects I haven't set a deadline for, I might speed them up a little ;)

Signal Boost

Ava is a 21 year old queer jewish desi living in London; one of the most antisemitic, racist, and violently anti-poor places in the world. She has been working for years now to keep her and her mother safe, but because the landlord and her previous apartment was neglectful and for years refused to fix important problems, she had to vacate the premises six months ago because the problems got so bad it was unlivable. Since then, her and her abusive mother have had to give up their two cats and move into one very small room together in her grandmother’s house. The room is literally only big enough to fit one mattress, which her and her mother share. She spends most of her time in that room because not only are her grandmother and aunt racist, conservative, and constantly pressuring her to get married to the first man possible, her aunt is violently abusive. The very first day there, her aunt attacked her mother and tore some of her hair off. 

Ava has been going to job interviews and filling out applications for months now, to no avail. She has been searching for apartments, but most of the locations are very much against those living on government assistance, and many won’t even accept the government assistance money. 

PLEASE HELP AVA. It has been more than six months since she first was evicted and first posted her signal boost posts. SIX MONTHS, and she still hasn’t even reached $3000. Ava needs our support. If everybody who saw this gave even $1 that would help so much. If you could share on facebook and twitter, that would help too. If you could reblog this here AND encourage others strongly to donate and/or share, that would be wonderful too. 

Ava needs our help, and we need to stand up as a community, as her community, and get her to a safe place.

So, as you guys know, I hate asking for help...

Especially financially. But after last weekend, my options are very slim, so here I am hoping you guys can help me out.

What’s up? Well, a lot of bad luck. After a weekend of trying to save stuff from being water damaged at a festival I was asked to perform at, I came home to get a phone call that my horse was REALLY sick (she’s now on a wholelot of medication to prevent her from being at risk of dying) and equally horrible, I found out that my Vespa got stolen, even though it had double locks. It was my only means of transportation to the animal rescue shelter I work at and the revalidation center that’s helping me with my chronic pain. Insurance refuses to cover theft, apparently.

So here it is, the one thing I really hate doing…I’m asking for help. If you can and want to donate, my Paypal is [email protected], or I could provide a bank account number for direct transfers. Any donation will help, no matter the amount. And if you can’t donate, please reblog this to spread the word.

I really don’t know how else to solve this as I can’t afford any other means of transportation without help right now. I’m really sorry and most of all embarrassed to be doing this, but I hope it helps.

It's my birthday! It's been a lot of fun, had part of the family over and a couple friends I hadn't seen in way too long. Annnd...with part of my birthday money I managed to buy the rest of my Lagertha materials. Not pictured here are the mail rings as they've yet to arrive and the blue linen for the tunic as I'm currently washing and treating it. Oh, and for the curious people among you: I turned 27. Feel old!
