Got emotional thinking about jedi lineages. 

Like. Maybe Ahsoka ties her obis in double knots because that’s how Anakin taught her. He told her it helped them stay on better.

But Anakin does it because that’s how Obi-Wan helped him, the first time he wore the robes that seemed impossibly heavy, with the weight of his new life.

But Obi-Wan only tied it like that because he had seen Qui-Gon do the same, and had desperately wanted to be perfect, so copied his master.

But Qui-Gon only did it out of habit- of all the rules of decorum that Dooku taught him that he ignored, the obi knot had stuck.

But Dooku had been trained by the greatest master of them all, so assumed however Yoda tied his robes was the most correct.

But maybe that is all because, centuries ago, a master whose name the rest of them will never know, taught his tiny padawan to double knot his obis, because they just never fit right.

And Ahsoka will never know that she got this from a jedi who lived in a totally different world from her, who she never knew and would never know her, but the legacies are there, no matter how small. And I bet every lineage has a handful of them.

Someone tell me why I found a copy of NHL 11 for the Wii and a copy of Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey for the Nintendo 64 while moving. Like I know we owned them because of my dad who loves hockey and our family's insistence that all consoles were Family Consoles and not for one person, but SHEESH. This is all to say: crazy find to have when planning HR fics.

Scuse pardon I'm in too deep into heated rivalry rn so I have a few thoughts:

Posted this as a comment on another post on my main blog but: off the hc that Luca Haas was deeply into in-canon hockey fandom, he at some point (after deactivating, potentially ghosting mutuals that he wasn't close to) starts seeing himself in Hockey RPF fics (as he is in the fallout of Hollanov) getting absolutely Flanderized in the background by old mutuals and has to restrain himself from commenting on them to keep himself in the RPF closet. They Can't Know He Was There When The Deep Magic Was Written.

I do have a deep and abiding love for chatfics but I don't believe Shane would want to interact with strangers whose relationship to hockey is tangential at best. If I had to put him in different chatfics tho I DO feel like he is in secret chats with players who were traded to different teams from the metros/voyageurs that are like "my coach put me in x position but isn't really interested in developing me/my line do you have any thoughts". In comparison to coaching 6 old teammates and also parts of their line or whatever, who are all in the western conference, this secret affair shit is easy peasy

Have we been making Montreal voyeurs jokes. Whenever you have TLG era fics everyone's characterized as like "homophobic and obsessed with imagining Shane fucking" so. Guys so obsessed with Shane's sex life they ought to rebrand to the Montreal voyeurs.

So my beta reader for the Big Fics is an astrophysicist, right. Who is currently also writing a hard sci-fi novel about the exploration of Phobos (more power to them, I cannot with the physics required for that, best I can do is soft sci-fi/fantasy and that reminds me I should finish that story).

Anyway I was bitching about how hard it is to come up with feasible planets in Star Wars because sometimes you need a new planet from scratch and sometimes you need to know more about a planet than the 'has jungles, is probably a moon technically' than Wookieepedia will give you, and they're like 'oh yeah I can do something about that'.

So they've written (in Matlab but they swear it will run as a .exe as well and I may be conscripted to embed it as a web tool at some point) a star system generator.

You input what you know about the planet (ecosystem, population, sun colour, does it have liquid water, does it have a moon or moons, is it a moon or moons, temperature averages, atmosphere, you get me) and it will give you the... everything else about the star system, in obedience to real-universe physics. And if you input nothing you get a randomly generated star system.

And I’m like oh I know people who will be into this with a vengeance, and they're not on Tumblr, so this is me seeing who exactly would be keen on, and I cannot stress this enough, a real-physics comprehensive star system generator.

It's still in the debugging phase (last error fixed: every planet wants to have a population of exactly 5000 regardless of other factors, turned out to be a missing equals sign somewhere), but I'm psyched for this and trying to gauge interest for how high a priority 'make this an accessible web tool' needs to be.
