Day 5 - Last Day
So its the last day.
I'd like to say that I liked how nice the response has been from Atlassian. The e-mails that were sent (while truth be told in a large part were skimmed over, but I did look into a few) were a nice touch. For example getting a HipChat e-mail after I used it telling me a few little tips was fairly nice.
On a side note, the "We are currently experiencing difficulties" would be even better if after the first time when the logo person connects the 2 cables, they would also reconnect them whenever you touch that part of the image.
Minor Login Experience Improvement Potentially?
One minor thing which would be nicer is that if it was easier to navigate to you OnDemand Atlassian page (something.atlassian.net) from the OnDemand about/try/sign-up etc page.
You can easily go to MyAccount, or your web address but as someone that's just trying the product out, it's intuitive to just do a Google search for OnDemand and go to the atlassian.com/ondemand page and look for a "Login" or "Your OnDemand" button of some sort that pops up next to Sign Up if you're already logged in. Not a vital necessary feature but would be a nice touch personally.
Loading Issue
So I tried adding an issue. I had some issues (no pun intended) porting my bitbucket project in actually. It just wouldn't find it.
Issue Settings (Proper Issue)
When clicking the issues settings icon, the menu goes off the top of my browser (Version 38.0.2125.104 m on Windows 8). Alternate clicks on the cog make the menu go off the top of the browser or appear normally. It would be nice to have the menu popup with its own scroll bar rather than having to scroll down to the bottom /top of the page to view the vast amount of menu settings. The menu could expand to be the height of the browser and scroll like that.
Protoshare
This caught my eye, but I wasn't really too sure of what it did. Inside protoshare you can click help and user guide. It would be nice if there was a little question mark box next to protoshare on the issue's page or perhaps a brief description would come up when you hover over the title.
Protoshare Design Exit
So I clicked proto-share designs. You can exit by going file - exit. But the main issues with that is that exit isn't at the bottom of the file menu (where it is for most applications I've used) so your eye can look over it. A back button is something I would personally look for on the page as well (so in addition to that option on the menu). I tend to be afraid of clicking the back button on the browser in case everything was done in one page and it takes me back to the login screen.
Protoshare Title
It would be nice to click on the title (defaulted to Untitled) when you're making a protoshare document and be able to change it like that when you're making the document (similar to how Google Docs lets you change titles).
Menu Issue Again
I think I mentioned in the earlier posts something about the menu. This happened.
I clicked on the menu item, then I clicked on "Track Time", the menu drop-down didn't disappear automatically. Nothing major but would've been nice if it did.
Issues Menu Improvement
As seen above you can click between recent issues. It would be nice that clicking "Recent Issues" would take you to a list of recent issues in a detailed view of those issues.
GOOD THINGS
Now I know this post has been mainly negative, but that's a good thing (kinda). If you notice almost all the negatives have been about nitpicking UI issues. That just means that the raw functionality of the things I used is done well =). I just didn't want to repeat them all since I'm sure you guys know better than me (and hear it from others ) :p. Just so you guys don't feel to down I'll cover some of the good things, and the good things are pretty big good things!
There's a bajillion features you can have at your disposal under one account. You can track issues and manage projects from one place, and there seems to be quite a bit of detailed functionality for all that. The system (to my limited experience) updates everything automatically and while using OnDemand I never had to wait for changes to become "active".
I was blown away by how detailed the products are. They seem so simple initially but go very detailed. The whole service experience feels like it's on that level where everything (as far as my needs go) seems to be taken care of.
I definitely think it takes more than 5 days to fully appreciate all the products in detail (or maybe 5 days of extreeeeme use). I will be back over time to keep on trying more of the features and becoming familiar with it all =).
The user interface is actually more intuitive when I compare it to other web based services I've used (for various services such as website/database/cloud management).
So the 5 days are over.
I hope you didn't go too crazy reading all the text I wrote
