This is a sideblog dedicated to lady Selene but I'll be posting some general Helpol stuff as well. I started learning about/worshipping her around September 2025 but have felt a connection with her for a longer time.

My main blog is @seraph1csiren

Any recommendations are welcome, as I'm trying to learn more about Helpol in general. Also I might refer to things in a slightly different way than normal in English. I'm Greek so that's the language I'm reading myths/epics/books in, sometimes I don't know the English terms.

Usually I’m not very connected to moon deities but Artemis II mission really gave me a new perspective on her! It’s unfathomable to me how she plays a major role in our earth’s life; regulating breeding, hunting, migration for so many species, forming tides, ensuring a stable climate, acting as a muse, timekeeper, guider. Her colors, caused by mineral in her surface has kept me in awe since I first saw it.

It’s also incredible to think about how she views the earth in phases as well! I actually have never thought about this before and it’s so adorable 🥹

Happy new year!

Found this in the Kunsthistorisches museum of Vienna. Although it's not the original I still enjoyed finding depictions of Selene around the museum, we're really not that different to those people 3,600 years ago.

I also walked through the Greek collection and stood in front of lord Dionysus and said a small prayer. His statue was beautiful and looking up at him made me tear up a bit. I prayed to lord Apollo as well and thanked king Zeus for protecting me in my travels.

I saw a dead butterfly, still intact, on my walk home. I picked it up, held it gently to my chest to prevent the wind and rain from damaging it, and walked two hours home in that weather, holding this tiny lifeless thing.

That's what I saw when I looked down at it, but I still thought it was pretty. It still has the chance to be loved in death. My husband will either pin it to display its beauty for all to see, or I — this comparatively massive, unknowable beast to this butterfly — will offer it to my own massive, unknowable Gods.

There is so much beauty and connection in that. I sincerely pray that my Gods will carry me home just as gently when it's my turn to be a tiny, lifeless thing.

i know i'm not the first person to say this and i won't be the last but there's something so intrinsically human in staring up at the moon. she's always been there, she'll be there as long as it matters, and she's always been the same. every human to ever lose track of time with their head tilted towards the night sky has traced their eyes over the same craters, found the same patterns, felt the same urge to tell stories about her, to make art. even now, her mystery beginning to unravel, her myths proven myth, footprints imprinted on her, preserved until the end of time, we still stare. we still tell stories. we still make art about her. i hope we never change.

I love looking outside and just... seeing the Earth. I see Gaia; I see Ouranos; I see Helios; and when there's clouds, I see Zeus.

I love seeing my deities anywhere I go. I get hit with light and think of Apollo; I look at plants and think of Demeter; buildings remind me of Hephaestus; It's amazing.

I was out in a forest park yesterday for a school trip. The dense trees reminded me of Artemis, along with the deer I saw. I was there to study the river and it reminded me of Poseidon. Collecting data and measuring the stones reminded me of Athena. Coming home and feeling the warmth from my house reminded me of Hestia.

The Theoi is with us - in both the little and big things. They care for us, even when we don't notice. The world is beautiful, and I thank the gods for that.

selene is always there reminding me to be gentle with myself, not harsh. i feel her soft cold hands hold my face and i hear her whisper, “you don’t need to do that to yourself” and she is absolutely right.

I think it's amazing how we still use words that derive from lady Selene to keep track of time.

The ancient Greeks used the phases of the moon to shape their calendar. Selene was also called Mene (Μήνη), the goddess of the month (also, month = ὁ μήν, which derives from the name Mene). Also Monday (day of the moon) was an important day for worshipping Selene, it was literally called "Selene's day".

Still we use her name to talk about time, which is calculated by the moon's phases (also, moon = Μήνη). Words like menstrual, menopause, month (έμμηνος, εμμηνόπαυση, μήνας) all derive from the fact that we based our understanding of the passage of time on the movements of the moon (also in many other Proto-Indo-European languages it's the same deal).

Anyways, I love thinking about connections like these. I only studied ancient Greek in 7th through 12th grade so I don't have a degree or something, I'm just in love with my language and always trying to learn more about it ♡

Had a dream that I was outside talking to lady Selene and I asked for a sign that she was listening. I got such a strong sign from her that I got scared lmao I asked for the sign, why was I surprised when I got it
