Celebrating some of my favorite colorwork to date!
This project had a few purposes: replace the coasters my roommate took when they moved out, use up some old yarn, and learn to double knit!
Double knitting was a fun adventure. I hope you can notice how the tension and edges are a bit sloppy on some and noticeably improved in others. I also tried out some non-symmetrical double knitting (the ⚠️ sign says “Don’t Panic” on the back) which obviously taught me a lot about tension.
Both the rainbow and yoshi designs are stitched on top of a double knit piece. I made the designs myself and am quite proud of them.
I was asking myself why Survivor AUs aren’t more common in fan fiction. The question was answered with force when my mental reverie was interrupted by the inevitable question as to whether Jeff Probst exists in this fantastical universe.
I made this pencil case for friend of mine who loves stationary.
My first time using duplicate stitches instead of just alternating colors (alternating probably would’ve been easier but I wasn’t sure at first what design I wanted on the front) and blocking wool. I think it turned out mostly alright.
Took around 10 hours using the Lion’s Brand felted pencil case pattern.
Obviously the tree was my own creation, I can drop the google sheet I made it in if you want but to be honest I fucked it up and made changes so many times it’s probably very different.
Sharing this habit tracker I made for January - hopefully the fun fonts motivate me to break through the ol’ seasonal

Tbh y’all I Struggled with this one (and not just with taking the pictures, sorry about the extreme photo editing, you would not Believe how poor the original lighting quality was).
If you’ve been following my knitting you might know that all my projects lately have been experimental and are not based on any patterns. I want to be able to create my own patterns based on Vibes and my own measurements. However, this is pretty hard.
I don’t think it’s too visible in the photo, but my measurements were waaaaay off on this one. It was way too wide and the sleeves way too tight and the neckline too wide and etc etc
I was also learning a lot of new techniques for this one! I’d never done large scale colorwork like the 3 on the back and I had to learn a new binding technique that didn’t go super well for the first while.
All this lack of success lead to me really struggling to want to work on this project. I probably spent the last 3 months spending more time avoiding the project than actually working on it. As I got closer and closer to the end and it got farther and farther from my vision, I got increasingly unmotivated.
But it’s finished. I probably won’t wear it much, it’ll always be a “failed” project in my eyes. But I learned a new technique. I learned more about taking measurements and planning ahead. I learned about keeping my motivation even when I don’t feel like continuing. I finished it. So maybe some day in the future I will return to this project and remake it in a way that I can be proud of. But right now, even if I’m not proud of the project, I am proud of myself.
But my next project is probably going to come from a pattern lol
