Love me a fanfiction where an ensamble of characters inexplicably live in the same house. One of my favorite tropes.

Bringing this up because I can't sleep (again) and I'm thinking about Dave Torres of The Edge of Sleep fame. The audio drama version ends with the sleep deprived heroes being taken in by a tribe of dreamwalkers. The story as written ends there, but there's enough to extrapolate that Dave & Linda will eventually learn their techniques (though I have a suspicion that if the story continuse, Linda is gonna get killed).

How does that connect?

Well, Markiplierverse ensemble house fanfiction written after TEOS often includes Dave. Dave is unlike the rest in which he is not a certified Markiplier original. IMO he shouldn't be there. So. There is a ton of missed comedy potential in making him a character that only pops up in dreams.

He's not part of the cast. They don't know him. But half of the houses' nightmares all stop halfway through because of some random motherfucker named Dave. It becomes a running joke to thank Dave when crises from housfires to burnt toast are narrowly averted. None of them catch on that this is an actual guy.

Every so often someone draws an Eridian statue of Grace and every time it is realism. Except realism wouldn't matter to a sightless race, or at least it would look different.

I raise you: Statues of Grace with holes in them, so when the wind blows through them it sounds like the way he sang.

Every so often the statue manages to mimic a shorter Eridian word. It reminds Rocky so much about the one time Grace tried to speak Eridian with his stupid squishy anatomy (affectionate) that Rocky avoids the statue for a week.

not that I am some genius in this regard but if you follow ai developments even slightly you might change the things you are most worried about. do people know the extent to which ai is already eating itself and how meaningless this is making swaths of the internet. do people know that there are plenty of random mid-sized companies today buying their employees’ likenesses to create digital clones and using these to make hundreds of videos. I am so much more worried about labor and surveillance and abuse than people becoming lazy about writing emails. and idk man I sort of like and respect people who are willfully ignorant about it as a way of minimizing its force in their lives and I am in some ways jealous but also when I see posts that basically still boil down to “chatgpt will never fool me” I am like 😭😭😭 for one thing not the only thing to be concerned about, for another thing I am really sorry but I don’t think you’re right

my futile wish is for people to understand that "sex scenes in movies/TV don't have to serve the plot and can genuinely just be for pleasure" and "sex-repulsed people are allowed to complain about how rare it is for media made for adults like them to be something they can enjoy completely" are both true statements. unfortunately society hates both sex and people who don't like sex, so everyone gets far too defensive about any sex or lack thereof in fiction to actually have this conversation

Simon gets rescued by the Eridians or whatever, but he's so fucked up they're not sure he's going to make it. They don't want to tell Grace until Simon's fate is more certain, but this is kind of time sensitive. Slogging through Wikipedia for medical information takes a while even if you don't need three layers of accommodations to "read" the pages. So they have to ask Grace things to at least point the medical scientists in the right direction.

Grace, being the oblivious king that he is, never picks up on what's going on. At worst they ask him about radiation sickness and Grace freaks because, "oh god, there's something radioactive nearby and there's no radiation shielding, isn't there?"
