Looking for the perfect pumpkin? Visit Patton’s Pumpkin Patch located in Sigel, Pennsylvania…less than 30 minutes from Gateway Lodge! Besides their varieties of pumpkins, you can also find Chinese Chestnuts; Speckled Swan, Apple and Pear Gourds; Corn Husk Wreaths; a variety of squash such as Butternut, Lakota, and North Georgia Candy Roasters. They also offer homegrown heirloom Native American seeds.

Soak in the harvest season with an autumn five-course tasting for two Saturday, October 29th. You’ll be introduced to fabulous award-winning wines during the event while indulging in delicious fine cuisine. Live entertainment provided. Cost is $99 per couple. The adventure will take you through the Forest Cathedral, one of the largest and oldest growth forests of eastern white pine and hemlocks. Bring your flashlights and meet us at the Log Cabin Inn Environmental Learning Center for an evening owl prowl. The prowl starts at 8:30pm on Friday, September 16th. Explore Cook Forest at night for Pennsylvania’s owls as you will be car-pooled to owl hotspots in the park. Barred, Great Horned, Screech and Saw-Wet Owls have been know to make an appearance.

Stay with us and bring your binoculars and climb the 87.5 foot Fire Tower August 6th, September 3rd or September 17th; while taking a breathtaking view overlooking Cook Forest and the Clarion River. Learn how firefighters operated the tower in 1929 before it’s retirement from service in 1966. The tour will be opened from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. (at Cook Forest State Park)
