HISTORY
Gavin was the second in the set of twins born to the Gallos. He was close with his twin brother growing up. He was the younger one, but he was willing to be the one to step up and push for what they wanted. It was easy for him to talk to anyone, but he didn't always let people in. He could play and talk with other kids all afternoon and leave with stories about their lives, but they weren't able to do the same with the information he shared. He spoke a lot, but his distrust for others meant he didn't share much about himself.
Gavin enjoyed learning, but he did not like school. He was able to coast by with the friends he gathered. Someone was willing to let him copy homework or share their notes or answer keys. He learned from a young age that connections were more important than his own personal skills. He knew the material, but he liked the game of seeing how far he could push others into doing the work for him. He was sure none of it would matter for the job he would have when he was older.
Griffin took most of their father's attention, and Gavin let him. When their father's anger was at it's worst, he let Griffin take the heat from it. He had stepped up when they were younger, and Gavin saw it as Griffin returning the favor. He wasn't always saved from their father's abuse, but he was able to dodge the worst of the beatings with the right words and phrases. The time that Griffin was sent away was the worst for Gavin. He took up the role of protector for his younger siblings even though he didn't want to.
He joined his brother on the ice and played hockey through high school. He did get a scholarship to play in college, but he didn't take the offer. He took a bad hit in one of his last games and he quit the sport when he had to have a tooth replaced. The twins started college, and he continued the game of getting others to do work for him. He made friends with the TAs and let his name carry weight to ensure he graduated top of the class even after Griffin had dropped out. When his brother left for basic training, Gavin was sure his spot was secured to take over. He knew Griffin didn't want to, but he did. He always wanted the role his brother was going to have handed to him.
He started working in finance after he graduated, but after a few years he started investing. He didn't want to work for a living, and he knew he could play it smart and let others make money with what he already had. It had worked for him so far, and he wanted to let it continue. He took his seat on the council for the Serpents, and he hasn't given anyone a reason to doubt his loyalty. He isn't the easiest to get to know, and he plans to let his secrets stay hidden behind a friendly smile.
🖤 BLACK HEART — has your oc killed or seriously wounded anyone before? have they broken someone's heart and/or broken someone's trust?
"Not even buying me a drink before you ask the hard questions? Seriously wounded someone? No. I'm not my brother. But I assume I've broken a few hearts. Who hasn't?"
🍝 SPAGHETTI — what is/are your oc's favorite food(s)?
"If I can only pick one, pizza. Bit of a loophole, but you can put whatever you want on it. It's the best."
🍸 COCKTAIL GLASS — what is your oc's favorite alcoholic drink, if they can drink?
"I feel like everyone says whiskey even if they hate it. Why lie? I like a screwdriver. Vodka is my preferred liquor."
💤 SLEEPING SIGN — is your oc a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? how are their sleeping habits?
"I don't see how anyone could be a heavy sleeper. If someone makes any noise, I'm awake. That's one of the many reasons I don't want to watch Griffin's kids. Sleeping is my time. I don't want it interrupted."
There were several people he wanted to punch in that moment. The way people were reacting to Avery's secret being leaked had him fuming. Gavin Gallo just happened to be the first one he'd come across. "Hey, dude ... What the fuck is your problem?" he questioned as he approached him.
Gavin flicked his cigarette away and turned to look in the direction of the voice. He looked the man up and down and chuckled. "Depends on why you're asking, I guess. What the fuck is yours?" He didn't like his tone, and he stepped toward him. "Something you wanna say?"
"You know, I was wondering the same thing when some kid asked me to paint Bluey," she stated, shaking her head. "It's some blue cartoon dog, I guess. I had to look it up." She preferred to spend her time watching trashy reality television and rom coms. Abby rolled her eyes, a scoff escaping her lips at his words. "That inflated ego doin' you any favors tonight, Gavin?" she queried, arching a brow.
"Oh. Yeah I think Griff's kids might watch that shit or something." He had no idea. He didn't keep track of them more than he had to. But maybe he'd seen a blue dog on the tv. It didn't matter anyway. "Could be. Why? You getting jealous already?" He asked as he laughed.
Bianca’s gaze flickers toward Gavin as he falls into step beside her, her pace unchanged, smooth and measured. She doesn’t break stride, her presence almost suffocating in ease. Her eyes flick over him briefly, a small, calculating smile curving her lips, as if she’s already considered the question and found it... mildly amusing.
“I wouldn’t say ‘loving,’” she responds with a tone that’s flat yet filled with subtle layers of meaning, "but I suppose it’s tolerable. Though I can’t say I see the appeal of all the... frivolity."
She glances around the carnival, her expression never wavering, though a faint smirk dances at the edge of her mouth.
"I was more inclined to find something worthwhile, but," she glances up at him coolly "a bit of company from another Serpent isn't the worst distraction."
Her tone is light, but the unspoken message is clear: she’s perfectly content in her own company, but the presence of someone who understands the game is always... welcome. Even if they didn't know who she was just yet, if she was going to be here she needed to at least know the people she's meant to... relate to.
"Personaly, I always preferred this hoilday as something-- intimate. Not meant to be showed off to the world. As if its some kind of game to see who got the best valentine day date, or present. That's not what love is."
"Well that makes two of us." Gavin laughed as he looked at the decorations around them. "I don't see much of a point in it, but at least someone's having fun." The entire thing felt like a waste of time and money, but he had plenty of both to waste. Aspen was a good date to bring at least, but he had lost track of her when he left the booth he was working.
"I'm damn good company, and you know it. Better than most of the people walking around." He was fine with putting on his fake personality for a while. He'd find a way to leave early and end up anywhere else before long anyway.
"Well that's one way to look at it. Everyone has their own ideas for every holiday, but this one is barely a real one. It's all commercialized. What's the point?" He was restating what she said, but it was better than sharing his own thoughts.
Overall the carnival was supposed to be a fun night, the blonde was entertained by the thought of spending a shift running the kissing booth. Still it was always a risk to have everyone all together, especially when they were split among booth duties — she was lucky to be paired with her brother. Gavin being by her side made her feel better, especially now that they were taking a look at everything the event had to offer. "Do you feel like getting a drink or maybe heading over to one of the rides?" At least those were operated by professionals.
Gavin wanted to be positive that it would be a good night, but there was no telling how it would end. Things had been quiet for too long, and he knew it wouldn't stay that way. "If you wanted to kiss me at the top of the ferris wheel, all you had to do was ask, Aspen." Gavin laughed and nudged her as he nodded at a booth for spiked hot chocolate. "That work for you or were you thinking something else?"
Abby had some minor regrets about showing up, but that was mostly because she was freezing and stuck painting faces. She'd run out of hot chocolate awhile ago, and the slight buzz she'd had from mixing in the bailey's had worn off. Gaze lifted slightly to meet Gavin's as he approached, head shaking slightly. "Mmm .... mostly requests for Bluey," she said, shrugging. "Nothing that's really struck me as particularly interesting. Why? You lookin' to change that?"
"What the fuck is a Bluey?" Gavin laughed as he asked. He should know because of Griffin's kids, but he didn't pay close enough attention to know what shows were on the television when they were around. He shook his head and his hand raised to scratch his jaw. "We both know that as good as your skills might be, painting this face would be a crime."
The carnival wasn't something Gavin was excited for, but he could pretend to enjoy it. He looked down at Aspen and continued to walk through the booths. He was mapping the layout of the carnival in his head as they looked around. Nothing good ever happened when all the gangs were in one place together. "Was there anything you wanted to do first?"
Location: The Face Painting Booth
Status: Closed @morningsmisty (Abby)
Gavin should have known everyone would show up for the carnival. It was a good excuse for a date for anyone that forgot to do something the night before. But he hadn't expected it to be so easy to run into people. He smiled as he walked past the face painting booth and spotted Abby. It was an easy decision to turn around and bother her for a few minutes. "Had any good requests so far?"
Gavin took one last drag from his cigarette before flicking it away and started following a familiar face. He took a few longer strides before he moved to walk beside Bianca, and he looked down at her with a grin. He didn't have much to say, but walking with another Serpent was better than risking being bothered by someone. "I bet you're loving this place, aren't you?"
"I'm going to, obviously." Dante sighed, rolling his eyes. He thought it was obvious that it was his next step after speaking to people individually, especially the Gallos. There had been two traitors amongst them now and more than ever Dante needed to make sure he knew who he could trust. "I already have something in mind for that Valentines carnival thing that's coming up. They're going to pay don't you worry."
"I'd hope so considering you said we needed one." Gavin shrugged and let his friendly side continue to take over. He wanted something worthwhile from the meeting so it didn't feel like a useless trip. His loyalty should have never been brought up for question. He couldn't remember the last time he spoke to Mia, and he was happy for that. He laughed and shook his head. "Never been worried. I'm sick of playing tag with them. If you want to end them, then we have to stop fucking around."
It was a sense of shutting that - something all of the Gallos did very well, and by baking away, by keeping her brain occupied, Amara could pretend it all didn't happen. There was no escaping it though - her demons only came back mildly concussed. "Yeah, well, I figure you could sweets every once and all, especially now. Helps to just - clear my mind. I gave a bunch to Griff too." She didn't care that others saw her brothers as assholes - they probably were, but no one knew them like Amara. No one saw how horrific their beatings were growing up - how their mother had turned a blind eye as their father relentlessly came at both of them. First it was always Griff who had jumped in whenever the man had taunted the younger siblings - and then it was Gavin when Griff had been sent away. The torment, the brutality the man had put upon their shoulders - Amara had seen it all and perhaps that was why she had always loved them so much, protected them, despite what anyone ever thought, especially Mia. They were the only ones in Amara's life that had ever truly cared - and so what they had their faults? Amara never could hold it against them.
"Because - Because I'm fucking pissed, Gavin. I'm pissed and I'm - I'm upset. I should have known - I should have questioned her somehow. I - I never th-thought .. I was too stupid to think Mia wouldn't do this. Too naive." She shook her head as she pulled away from the hug, softly. "Did you - Did you ever think she would?" Brown eyes looked up, half of her not wanting the answer. "Have you talked to Mom?"
Gavin continued to chew the cookie and look down at the plate of sweets. He didn't need all the sweets in his house, and he would find someone else to hand them off to once she was gone. But he wouldn't brush off her trying to help in whatever way she thought was best. Amara handled things differently than him or Griffin, and he knew it was better to let her have the space to figure things out for herself. "I bet his kids were excited to see them." He laughed and took another bite.
He looked down at her when she spoke again and started to pull away. It didn't make sense to him why she was shouldering all the blame that Mia had brought on herself. None of them had anything to do with her actions. He took a seat at the bar and shook his head. "No reason for you to be acting like all of that. Why the fuck would you have known she was doing this shit? You got more important things to do than worry about your siblings doing stupid shit." She should be focused on her studies and her job. She was better than them, and she didn't need to be pulled into this life. "Nope, but can't say I'm surprised either." He lifted a hand to scratch along his jaw. "No. Griff said she was upset. Good enough reason to stay away for me."
"Mmm . . . of course you do," Natalie remarked, words teasing. She sighed slightly as she eyed her drink that was nearly empty, waiting for the one that Gavin had ordered from her to come through. She didn't feel anything about the demise of that bitch. In fact, Natalie was glad she was gone. It was one less problem for her to worry about. She was glad their drinks had arrived. She took a sip from her glass before looking over to Gavin. "Thank you, but I was just doing what I was supposed to do. You know that. She needed to go. She was a problem, and I brought her to him to make sure the problem was taken care of."
Gavin shrugged and continued to smile. Why lie when he didn't have to. She heard the job and got it down, and he respected her hustle. One less traitor in the world sounded good to him. Mia might have been his sister, but she decided to end that when she turned her back on them. "I do, but doesn't mean I can't appreciate it. You saved me a lot of trouble. That goes far with me." He laughed and took a sip of his drink. "Did you take care of the other problem too? Or did someone else claim that prize out from under you?"
Griffin gave a tight nod, "He does. Do you know anything about Lucky turning up dead the same night? There is a lot of speculation." He ran his hands through his hair. "I heard some sister is stepping into Lucky's spot. And Not Rosa." This was something he was uneasy about. "You'll tell me everything in that meeting, yeah?" He knew his brother would. "What if Lucky helped Mia?"
"Heard about it. Don't know anything about it. What are people saying?" Gavin had his own thoughts, but he liked to know what was happening. Dante's little toy turning up near Mia said enough for him. "Yeah if there's anything interesting, I will. Better not be some ego stroking bullshit again." Gavin didn't like having his loyalty questioned. He had done nothing to look disloyal to the Serpents except for being related to Mia. "Wouldn't surprise me. I never trusted him."
Gavin stepped out of the side door into the chilly night air and looked around. He wanted a few minutes to enjoy a smoke before he went back inside the club. He pulled the cigarettes from his pocket and held one between his lips while he searched for his lighter. It slipped from his fingers when he pulled it from his pocket, and he listened as it bounced across the concrete into a drain. "Fuck." Now what was he going to do? "Hey, you got a light?"
