one recurring theme with some of the responses on this survey is some people saying they only reblog if it's a post they wanna come back to.
i'm saying this with love but if that's the method everyone on this website used, tumblr would be declared dead in weeks.
the thing is that more often than not you wouldn't even have found that wonderful post if it wasn't because someone else reblogged it and put it on your dash
that's why every individual holds more power here than on any other social media to get that beautiful piece of art in front of the eyes of the next person. even if you don't ever wanna revisit it. even if you don't have many followers yet. it tells the OP: hey i didn't just passively and briefly enjoy it, i liked it enough to share it with other people
& i won't even get into the community aspect and importance of reblogging sillier posts as well. if only to share as much whimsy as we possibly can in this bullshit timeline
and i promise you can have it all! if you care about the longevity of this app or seeing any fandom (big or small) thrive, but you also really want an archive where you can easily access every post you may want to come back to: sideblogs are your friend — just a couple clicks and you can use it for whatever you need
it's okay to not know a lot about how this website works. and i have been told informative posts have helped other people before so that's why i'm writing all this. obviously it's also fine if you have other reasons (like social anxiety) that make you hesitant to reblog. there is no reblog police and nobody is coming to check your count at the end of each day
just trying to get the message out there that minimal effort goes a long way sometimes and it's what this website depends on
