a) heterophobia is not a real actual thing that exists whereas homophobia is

b) john said that when he was 13 and had already been treating the whole conversation as a joke so he easily might’ve been joking

what else would i call it? you’re erasing an openly gay character’s sexuality and therefore reinforcing the toxic idea that gay people’s sexuality is fluid and can be changed. maybe by saying that i was indeed taking it a bit too far, but regardless of whether or not the person themself is homophobic, it is an act of homophobia and should be treated as such.
