Blade Runner (1982), dir. Ridley Scott
“They have a curious relationship with their mammoths. They don’t herd these creatures, but they seem to be able to communicate with them. They protect them, and in return, they get milk, cheese, and companionship. On occasion, I have seen a giant eat a mammoth. The meal was conducted with reverence, if such a concept can be applied to a simple giant.”
–From Giants: A Discourse
Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher (1979)

Get Into Glorantha
“Glorantha is my personal North Star as an author of vast fantasy game narratives… a sacred but unattainable goal.” – Ken Rolston, The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Oblivion.
Chaosium has just released The Glorantha Sourcebook, a 226-page resource that is perfect for those of you who may have wondered why people go on and on about the wonders of Glorantha.
It provides:
Geography: A basic overview of the geography of Glorantha.
History of Dragon Pass: A history of the central crossroads of Glorantha.
The Elder Races: A short overview of the main non-human species that predate humanity and once dominated the world.
Theogony: The story of the gods of Glorantha, primarily arranged by element (Darkness, Water, Earth, Fire, and Air).
Time: A history of Glorantha since the first Dawn.
Gods of the Lunar Way: The new gods of the Lunar religion.
Redline History of the Lunar Empire: A comprehensive history of the Lunar Empire since its founding and going until the early Hero Wars.
Gloranthan Magic: A short essay on the Gloranthan Runes, types of magic, and some theories about what is magic.
Gods and Mortals: An overview of gods, mortals, and those who straddle both worlds.
Sartar Magical Union: A list of the magical units that served Prince Argrath in his war against the Lunar Empire.
The book has no stats and is not built for any particular system. You can use it with Runequest Glorantha (if you like gritty combat and d100 skill-based systems), 13th Age Glorantha (if you’re partial to d20 classes & levels, HeroQuest Glorantha (if you prefer storygames), or any other system you might be using (Fate Core comes to mind).
The Glorantha Sourcebook is not to be confused with the astoundingly in-depth two-volume Guide to Glorantha, which is what you want to buy once you’ve read the sourcebook and decide you want even more details.
One of the oldest published fantasy game settings gets a new system-neutral sourcebook
“Xag-ya are creatures from the Positive Material Plane. They have the shape of silvery spheres with tentacle-like appendages and glowing, golden eyes.” “Xeg-yi are creatures from the Negative Material Plane. They have the shape of black spheres with tentacle-lie appendages and dull metallic black eyes” (Harry Quinn illus, S4: The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth by Gary Gygax, TSR, 1982)
