Charlotte is a witch.
More specifically, she’s an immortal psychic with some promise as a pyromancer, not that the latter is looked very highly upon. But she’s been alive for ages; she can remember, faintly, news of Rome’s fall. She thinks that was her first life, of sorts; before she felt the fire’s touch, before her second sight awakened. Before another of her kind told her what she was.
A reincarnation, they said, the rebirth of a god. A trickster, born to bring about Ragnarok, to end the world with flame and vengeance. But she doesn’t want to end the world; she rather likes it, in fact. So the soul of the god within her keeps her young, beautiful, while she lives through age after age, never staying in one place too long lest she experience a repeat of a near-miss in 1600s Massachusets...
(she was working as a midwife. she was accused of witchcraft. she confessed and later left town under the excuse of going to visit her grandfather.)
However, in the modern age, it is surprisingly easy to avoid detection; it helps that people are, as a whole, more open to the occult not being a byproduct of the devil (however true that may be in Char’s case; Loki could very well be the devil). She lives outside a small town, using her psychic abilities to make a living, or occasionally producing magical fireworks for the town’s fourth of july festivities.
