Several observations darted through Y/Nโs mind as she woke:
ย ย ย a) she had slept soundly for the first time in months;
ย ย ย b) she was on holiday from classes and glad of it; and
ย ย ย c) she was wonderfully warm and lay with her back tucked against a very masculine form. A very naked masculine form.ย
Jisung. She couldnโt think of a better way to wake than curled into his embrace, his arms holding her fast to his chest and their bare limbs intertwined as closely as their hearts.
Y/N smiled to herself and opened her eyes to stare, as she had many times before, at the membranous wing curled over her, positioned as if to shield her from harm. She now knew better than to touch Jisungโs wings so early in the morning if she ever wanted to leave the bed. So, she simply admired how the early morning light caught and slid along the sinews and ridges of the wings, illuminating the red and brown hues rarely noticed. To the casual observer, the wings were black or perhaps a dark brown, but Y/N knew where to look in just the right light to see the shimmers of red, deepest purple, and even chestnut. And, they were tipped with golden talons. Had she not known she could stare at those glorious wings whenever she wanted, Y/N would have kept herself awake just to marvel at their beauty.ย
But sleep called its siren song too persuasively. Y/N sighed and rolled over to bury her nose in the little hollow at the base of Jisungโs throat, kissing his smooth skin once before again drifting to sleep cocooned in warmth.
hiiiii merry! itโs me, the one writing you a fic for the d9w fic exchange. quick questionโฆ. whatโs your favourite mildly fancy breakfast food (like youโd buy it at a cafe)? and do you like tea or coffee or neither? thanks heheheh
helloo stranger ๐ ooooh nice question - probably pancakes or waffles or chocolate croissants ๐ฅ๐ and I prefer coffee ;)
Jules! Merry Christmas! Iโm your secret santa for the event <3 I was so excited when I saw your name, and hope you like what I came up with *smooch* @speckled-sunshine
Looking outside at the weather, you feel your heart drop, along with the rest of your hope. Normally, a white Christmas is all you would have wanted โ but a blizzard like this can only mean one thing for your holiday plans.
Sure enough, not two minutes later a text alert comes through on your phone and itโs exactly what youโd been dreading ever since you saw the forecast at the beginning of the week. All flights cancelled. With a sigh, you rub the crease between your brows. At this point, it feels like itโs becoming a permanent feature.
Your apartment looks as depressing as you feel. Since youโd planned on being with your family for Christmas, youโd neglected to do anything to brighten up the place. And while it hadnโt mattered before, now it wasnโt doing anything to improve your mood.
Decided, you pull on your warmest coat and stuff your feet into your boots, ready to brave the elements. Youโre in luck, because the supermarket down the street must be the only shop still open in this weather. So after a harsh trek through the two feet of snow thatโs already blanketed most of the street, you manage to stumble into the warm.
You grab a basket and begin walking down the aisles, throwing in anything that catches your eye. Several boxes of fairy lights, tinsel and chocolate later, your mood is considerably improved.
You canโt say the same for the poor guy loading his groceries onto the conveyor belt in front of you. Heโs bought what your friends would call the โheartbreak-care-package-double-deluxeโ, and itโs rare enough that youโve only ever seen it once. He sniffles into his scarf, but itโs hard to tell if itโs tears-related or just from the cold.
You wait patiently to pay as he packs up his things, but donโt summon the courage to say anything. Before you know it, heโs out the doors, vanishing into the snow.
The way back home is notably more difficult โ youโre weighed down by shopping, but the wind is also considerably stronger, freezing your face into whatever unflattering expression you happen to be making. Thereโs already someone at the entrance to your apartment building when you arrive, and it takes a while in the blur of heavy snowfall to recognise the guy from the store.
He sees you approaching and shouts something, but you barely hear past his mask and the scarf and the whistle of the snowy wind. He points a gloved hand at the lock, then pats his gloves. Keys. You pull yours out with a stiff hand and shuffle around him to unlock the door, and let you both in.
โThanks,โ he says once youโre both inside and the door is shut safely behind you. He pulls his mask away from his mouth, and offers you a small smile. โI think I left my keys at home. That, or my hands are so numb I canโt feel them in my pockets.โ
โThe second one wouldn't surprise me,โ you reply with a laugh. โI thought I was the only one crazy enough to go out in this weather.โ
โI had a change of plans, soโฆโ He shrugs, gesturing to the almost-overflowing paper bags at his feet.
You show him the bags in your hands. โSame.โ
He smiles then, brighter and more genuine than before. โI can see that,โ he says. After a moment, he gestures to the elevator. โWhat floor?โ
โOh, Iโll take the stairs,โ you reply, then ask yourself why the hell you said that. โIโm only a couple floors up.โ
โSure, sure,โ he nods back. โYou wonโt manage to guilt me into walking, though, just a warning.โ
โGotcha. Wasnโt planning to anyway.โ
The doors to the elevator open with a soft ping. โOkay, wellโฆ See you around, maybe?โ
You stand awkwardly for a moment, then say, โIโm in 3C, if you need anything. Just knock.โ
His bright smile returns, and something in you feels almost relieved to see it again. โSure, thanks. I will.โ
You watch as he steps into the elevator. Just before the doors close, his hand darts out to block them. โIโm Felix, by the way,โ he says, then takes his hand back with a last, charmingly disarming smile as the doors finally fall shut.
Itโs definitely the hike up the stairs that leaves you feeling flustered and out of breath, and definitely โ definitely not your handsome neighbourโs freckly, lopsided smile.
You manage to put him out of your mind for the better part of an hour as you unpack your purchases and drape just about everything in your one-bedroom in tinsel. Youโre debating about whether or not to hang ornaments from the pot rack when thereโs a tentative knock at your door.
It takes you a few seconds to realise that the only person likely to be at the door is Felix, which is all the time you need to immediately panic. He knocks again, and you give your armpits a quick sniff โ you couldnโt remember if youโd put any deodorant on this morning โย before opening the door.
โHi!โ You say, then clear your throat at his slightly deer-eyed look. โHi,โ you repeat more quietly, hoping that the hot, sweaty flush you feel isnโt noticeable.
โHey,โ Felix says with a slow smile, like heโs holding back a laugh. Thereโs a faint dusting of powdered sugar on his jumper, and a smear on the end of his nose. โY/n, right? We didnโt get the chance for a proper introduction earlier.โ
โYeah โ yes, how did you know my name?โ
Felix points to the label above your doorbell. Your cheeks, if possible, begin to burn even hotter.
โYouโre very observant,โ you say with a polite nod.
Felix grins then, eyes crinkling with his smile. โWell, I was really into mystery stories as a kid. True crime and all that.โ
โOh yeah? Like what, Sherlock? Agatha Christie?โ
โNah. Nancy Drew.โ
You snort a laugh, immediately clapping a hand over your mouth to smother it. Felix laughs openly, his cheeks flushed and glowing with pleasure.
โWhat?โ He asks. โNancy was a real G.โ
โOh my god,โ you say, covering your face with your hands, still laughing. He giggles in the doorway, and after a few moments, it grows quiet between you. You wipe at the faint wetness in the corners of your eyes, and offer Felix a happy, flushed smile.
His Adamโs apple bobs as he swallows. He shifts his weight between his feet and looks down at the ground as he tucks a lock of his hair behind his ear. โUmโฆโ He starts, fidgeting. โSo I actually came down because I was wonderingโฆโ
โYes?โ You prompt when he trails off.
Felix swallows again, and as he lifts his head to meet your eyes his next words come out in a rush. โI was wondering if I could borrow a spatula?โ
Now it was your turn to feel awkward. You raise an eyebrow as you look at him, but when he only presses his lips together, you try not to let your disappointment show. โA spatula?โ
โIโYeah. Iโm, um, baking.โ
You straighten up, feeling off-balance like you tripped somewhere in the conversation and havenโt regained your footing yet. โOh, okay,โ you say. โIโll justโฆ go grab it for you.โ
Turning away to go into the kitchen, you miss the way Felix thuds the heel of his hand against his forehead, soundlessly cursing himself. He stops the moment youโre back in the doorway, plastering on a smile as he takes the spatula handed to him.
โThanks,โ he says.
You smile awkwardly back. โNo problem. See you round?โ
โYeah. Merry Christmas.โ
โMerry Christmas,โ you say back, slowly closing the door as he backs away. Once the lock clicks shut, youโre left in silence, staring at the door handle wondering what on earth just happened.
Before you can quite recover, thereโs another, desperate knock.
โI donโt need a spatula,โ he says the moment you open the door. He takes a deep breath before blowing it out between pursed lips, and fixing you with an earnest look. โMy flight home for Christmas got cancelled, and Iโve never spent Christmas alone. Iโm sad, and lonely, and donโt want to come off looking more pathetic than I already doโโ
โWant to spend Christmas with me?โ You ask tentatively, interrupting Felix before his mouth completely runs away.
He blinks at you, jaw slack with surprise.
You shrug with one shoulder, and smile gently. โMy flight got cancelled too. Although I should warn you, I was too late to find a Christmas tree so I had to decorate my Monstera instead.โ
After a beat, he breathes out a sigh, so elated itโs almost a laugh. His smile stretches from ear to ear, eyes almost squinting closed as he says, โThat sounds perfect. More than perfect.โ
You step aside to open the door wide, inviting him in. โI donโt know about perfect,โ you say modestly as he steps in, laughing in delight at the ornaments hanging alongside frying pans of varying sizes. โBut itโs home. All I was missing was some company.โ
Felix tucks his hands in his pockets and turns back to look at you with a smile. You shut the door quietly, and step closer to him. โI was actually baking, by the way,โ he says in a low voice.
You frown and tilt your head to the side, unsure as to why heโs bringing it up.
โI didnโt need the spatula,โ he reminds you. โI just wanted you to know that I wasnโt just making everything up. I was baking, for real.โ
Now you laugh, just a soft exhalation through your nose as you shake your head. โI know that.โ
โYou knew?โ
โYouโve got icing sugar on your face,โ you say, and point to your left cheek.
Felix turns a soft pink and uses the back of his hand to rub his face โ on the wrong side.
โWait, wait,โ you say with another laugh. โHere, itโs rightโฆโ You shuffle forward another step, reaching up to brush your fingers along the underside of his feathery lashes and over the dusting of freckles to brush away the powdered sugar. โโฆThere.โ
Your fingertips linger on his cheek for just a heartbeat too long, and you feel heat crawling up your neck as you slowly withdraw your hand, unable to pull your gaze away from Felixโs.
โHey,โ he says, his voice just on the rougher side of his low rumble. โWould it beโฆ very forward of me to ask you on a date, even though we only met this afternoon?โ
The smile starts slowly on your lips, curling outwards with a coy edge. โNot gonna buy me a drink first?โ
He doesnโt even break eye contact as he points his thumb over his shoulder, reminding you, โItโs a blizzard outside. I have cookies, though.โ
You lean into the hand that settles against your waist. โCookies will do, I suppose. Itโs Christmas, after all.โ

Iโm sad, and lonely, and donโt want to come off looking more pathetic than I already doโโ

all I want for christmas (is for you to stop playing that song, oh my god)ย
pairing: han jisung x readerย
genre and warnings: fluff, humour, neighbours au
wc: 3.8k
notes: merry crisis eve eve, hope you enjoy this festive entry! this fic contains excessive use of christmas songs and one of the best tropes in the world: A hears B singing in the shower and joins in one day.
festive series masterlist hereย ย

Youโd honestly never had a problem with your neighbour before. Han Jisung is actually pretty great as far as neighbours go. He had politely introduced himself after moving in a few weeks ago, and always greeted you whenever you happened to be in the laundry room or picking up your mail at the same time.ย
The truth is that youโve never made much more of an effort than thatโwork often keeps you out late, and most days youโre too exhausted to stop for a conversation in the entrance to the apartment complex. You hadnโt really thought Jisung cared. He seemed content to leave your relationship as what it was: nothing more than acquainted neighbours.ย
So, it comes as a surprise when he appears to have accidentally discovered a way of making your life hell.ย
It began on December 1stโa song here and there, a wreath on his front door, fake snow on his doormat. But youโre well into December now, and surely, no one can be happy listening to all I want for christmas is you on repeat, every day?ย

I didnโt finish this on time for jisungโs birthday so happy belated bday baby โค๏ธ (sorry felix)
Itโs still dark out when you wake, hand reaching out across the sheets and finding nothing but empty space. Sleepy and confused, you pull yourself over to the edge of the bed and stumble to your feet. Thereโs a faint light right at the end of the hall, and the familiar low hum of the microwave. One hand running along the wall to guide you in the dark, you follow the sound all the way to your dimly lit kitchen.
Jisung sits at the table in semi-darkness, his hair falling across his eyes as he scrolls through his phone without really seeing. At the sound of your approaching footsteps, he looks up, eyes wide and apologetic.
โHi, baby,โ he says in a soft voice. He reaches for you as you trail towards him and slip easily into the circle of his arms as he pulls you onto his lap.
You let out a hum, and gently nose into his hair before pressing a sleepy kiss to the side of his head. โEverything okay?โ You murmur.
โMm,โ is all he says, and tightens his arms around your middle to settle your weight more firmly against him.
You lightly graze your fingernails against the back of his head. He leans into the touch with a long exhale, his eyes falling shut. You stay there for a few moments, just breathing quietly against each other as the microwave drones softly behind you. When it starts to beep, Jisung runs a hand up your back to encourage you to sit up.
โWant some cocoa?โ He asks when youโve lifted your face to look at him. You debate your answer for a moment. On one handโyes, you would very much like some cocoa. On the other handโthe idea of moving from your current position is not appealing at all.
Jisung seems to understand this without being told. He leans in and smiles against your lips before hoisting you up and standing with you bundled in his arms, legs around his waist. You canโt help the giddy laugh that overcomes you as youโre carried over to the kitchen counter.
He sets you down without really letting go, reaching over your head to get the cocoa mix out from the cupboard. You watch as he takes the mug from the microwave, spooning chocolate into hot milk on the counter next to you.
โWhat woke you up?โ You ask quietly as the dark cocoa swirls into the milk.
Jisung shrugs. โBrain just going too fast, I guess.โ
You push his hair back from his face, waiting for him to look up before giving him a reassuring smile.
โSorry if I woke you,โ he murmurs.
You shake your head, pulling him in to nuzzle his cheek. โYou didnโt. My Jisung senses were tingling.โ
Jisung huffs out a breathy laugh. His hand squeezes your hip. โYour Jisung senses were right.โ
โMm, they're never wrong.โ
He pulls back after leaving a soft kiss at the corner of your mouth. You smile, and his whole face brightens in response. As he lifts the mug of hot cocoa off the counter and holds it between you, you wrap your hands around the bottom half of the mug, shivering with the sudden warmth.
Steam curls in the air in front of you, rich and sweet with chocolate. You take turns sipping from either side of the mug, laughing occasionally when chocolate ends up on someoneโs lip.
Itโs still dark out by the time the mug is cold and empty, abandoned somewhere to the side in exchange for cocoa-flavoured kisses. Your fingers press gently behind Jisungโs ears, and he breathes out slowly before catching your lips in another quiet kiss.
โReady to go back to bed?โ
Jisung nods, eyes still closed, his forehead resting against yours. You take him by the hand, and he lets himself be pulled along, back to bed and tucked into your arms.
hey everyone, this is very uncool of me but I don't think I'm gonna finish the rest of the flakey fortunes requests. there are about 11 in my inbox now, not including the requests that were sent after I closed the event
they've been sitting there for weeks and I've just been avoiding them, I just don't have the motivation to answer any of them
so I'm really sorry if you've been waiting for your request! I feel really bad, but they've been stopping me from doing anything else soo I'm just gonna call it quits โ๐ป
