will you guys cancel me if i say that queer tragedy has a place in the creative arts and shouldn’t immediately be dismissed as bury your gays
Friend, you are proving OP’s point.
I have written and do write and publish stories with happy sapphic characters and happy sapphic vampires. It’s not vampires, but my debut novel is a gothic ghost story with sapphic leads and an unambiguously happy ending. I write a variety of queer stories, most with happy endings for the queer characters. But I’m also a horror writer, so I also write scary and unhappy queer stories sometimes. It just happens that this planned longer novel works better as a tragedy.
The story is based on an actual vampire from folklore called the dearg due who is a genuinely tragic figure, and I wanted to use her and the woman she loves to explore grief, rage that comes from violence and injustice, the devastation of war wreaked on ordinary people, and Britain’s early colonization of Ireland. It’s not her lesbianism that turns her into the vampire, it’s patriarchal violence. The horror could actually have been averted if she had successfully run off to be a sexy nun with the girl she loved. So, in this case, queer tragedy is fitting. Maybe I’ll write a happier sequel to it someday, but I really don’t see this book having one.
Maybe that’s problematic in your eyes, and it’s fine if you feel that way or don’t like the concept, but that is my reasoning for this being a tragedy. My book isn’t fully written yet, and if it’s ever published, you simply do not have to buy it. Other queer tragedy enjoyers will.
I think we can both agree that the important thing for queer storytelling is variety. We do need more happy sapphic vampire stories, but there is also a place for weird and tragic medieval sapphic vampire stories. I was simply responding to this post about queer tragedy having a place with my own WIP.
Also, if you haven’t seen it yet, I do recommend you watch the Carmilla YouTube series because it is centered around a happy sapphic couple.
Steve Harrington, manager of the local radio station WSQK 94.5FM, is constantly being bothered by the frontman of an up and coming metal band, Corroded Coffin, to get their newest EP played on the air.
tfw you get turned into a monster against your will but thankfully you know a guy who's super practical and skilled in monster killing who won't hesitate to put you down if it means keeping everybody safe and that's a comfort except oh no what's going on he wants to kiss you now you fucked up

can we have tv dramas set in college please. fucking nothing happens in hs man. now im in college and my friend got chased by feral hogs a week ago in the woods and its like the 5th craziest thing to happen this week
if anyone is wondering how this happened:
we told her not to go in hog territory at night
she went anyway cause she wanted to find an abandoned mine
she did not find an abandoned mine she found hogs because she went in hog territory at night
its what she likes to do
God forbid women do anything
I've never been more devastated that I'm going to miss an event in my life. What a fucking icon.

Update;
She expected maybe 5-10 people to show up. There were about 100.
I gave out scotch eggs to commemorate the occasion.
She gave a beautiful speech, was blindfolded, then kicked REAL good. Crumpled. Gave us a thumbs up.
Applause. Then the flute. Then a moment's silence.
Absolutely beautiful. I fucking love trans people and Glasgow and trans Glaswegians.
the best colors ever actually

Praying that $1500 randomly comes to you when you need it the most this year.
Okay inflation is crazy.
We bumping up the price to $15,000 for 2026.
the most shocking thing we got from the finale was them basically all but confirming steddie. or at least showing us they did care about each other and part of the ONLY scenes with steve crying or showing any form of PTSD had to do with EDDIE.
steve was dressed like eddie, he did it for eddie, he settled down in hawkins and wants to move to forest hills where eddie lived and wayne probably still lives.
dustin and steve both got to honor eddie munson even if they could never clear his name- they both got to be more than anyone expected of them.
every reread kills me a little bit more
reread and enjoy <3
saw this pic on pinterest and knew immediately that i had to steddify it
take figures out of their boxes btw. sew patches on your favorite jacket. go to bed with your favorite plushes. wear the pants you usually save for special occasions. draw something cool on your wall. put a sticker on your laptop. dye your hair and pierce your lips. glass is meant to break, metal is meant to rust. items are meant to be used. that's how the world knows that somebody loved them.
When my aunt died of covid, we had to clean out a lot of stuff that she was saving. Foods she was going to try, she was a great chef, spices she'd never opened or only used sparingly, lotions and bath things she hadn't used. After she died I started making a point of using things up: the good vanilla that has to be imported, that we finally found more of, we'd used barely an ounce before she passed away. Even though we love it. I just got my family new bottles of it for Christmas because we used one up. We enjoyed that happiness. Sometimes I still get the impulse to wait for something special, or awful, to save nice things for celebration or comfort. The phrase that always echoes in my mind is "use the good vanilla". And I have been (burning the candles, squirting the body wash, dissolving the bath bombs, putting the saffron in things). And it's been great. Use the good vanilla.
