This was a long project, actually it took me around a month to complete? something like that. I'll detail the journey under the cut for anyone who will be entertained by it
Started with the pants. No sewing experience (besides mending holes on my clothes) just a whole lot of arrogance that I can surely do this (jk I was losing my mind the entire time).
Next up was the shirt. I got my hands on a pillowcase that was the perfect red colour- but it would end up looking magenta on every photo. don't worry about that
Made the sleeves- so far so good. (they turned out to be a little short. haha oops. that turned out not to be a problem because the armor would cover that gap.
In the meantime i was trying to get me some foam sheets. ordered them, no confirmation email whatsoever, nothing. Bought it in a real life store in the end, then later the package arrived. Still no email. HAHA
the white thread is not my work, I was just making use of the pillowcase's built in lining. my thread is red and thankfully it blends into the fabric enough
I am very much understating how much sanity the sewing part took from me.
By the end of it I was more or less able to make the stitches straight. Going into it i had no idea how long sewing took, for such a small item
In the meantime I got decor fake gems which I glued into the skeleton's eye sockets and on the forehead, as Sharp has them (he does not have eye gems but close enough to eyelights, right?)
Okay, got the foam sheets, shirt and pants done, time to start on the armoooooo..... oh shit
distant sounds of me suffering. Rethinking my whole life. this very notably looks nothing like armor and the foam doesn't want to stick together despite the glue
it kept coming apart and I thought it was hopeless but I was saved by some clips
and then the paint. WOOO. finally starting to look like armor! The paint was a lifesaver. had to apply multiple coats to cover the pores, but overall the painting was the most fun part of the project. In fact it was probably the first fun part. Which is insane because by this point I had spent SO MUCH time on this
By now I was starting to get used to how to get the foam to do my bidding and I knew it would look better once I applied the paint so this was actually very exciting! Gave him armor heels made of air dry clay. At this point, all his joints can still bend!
Now he has his soul gem! All that's missing now is the shoulders and I also added a border around the soul gem to make it look socketed, it looks way better that way! He ended up losing some mobility in his arms cuz the pauldrons don't allow them to be fully lifted, but it was difficult enough to glue them on as it is.
Whew, what a project! I'm happy with the result but at several points I was painfully aware that it would be more fun to rub a fork on a plate than to be doing this. Which is why I'm not going to go on another project like this (lie)
anyway I have a Sharp!!! incredible!! I'm glad I stuck with the project
