actually extremely interested in the way that gwayne and daeron interacted in this episode. gwayne’s implied experiences with ormund leading him to believe that being his “treasure”/favorite is a safer place to be when it clearly isn’t for daeron. & gwayne believing that fighting back is the way to deal with ormund rather than fawning. in my opinion they’re very clearly setting up the ways in which gwayne has survived ormund himself, and showing that he can be blinded by that trauma—in this instance failing to see the ways in which daeron’s experience is different than his own.

as a victim myself i appreciate that they’re allowing gwayne to be flawed in his victimhood, and that they’re taking the time to show how complicated that can be. that being said, gwayne if you don’t get that boy out of there i will do it myself
