This blog is mostly so I can get more traction to my fics, and update people when I post something new. But I also wanted a place where I could rant and reblog whatever fandom-related thing I wanted without clogging up my main blog, which I mostly use for memes. If you don't want to deal with me reblogging from random fandoms that you might not be a part of, then don't follow.

However, if you want to be kept up on content I post for certain fandoms, or even just a certain fanfic then I will have taglists made and ready if you would like to be added to them. Just send an ask or a dm and I will add you to the taglist of your choosing.

I believe that for all his life, John Walker has been a crier.

If he was happy, he cried. If he was sad, he cried. If he was angry, he cried harder.

Because of that, he grew up the "sensitive" kid.

His classmates teased him all through school. It was a small town. Stuff travels fast, things stick. He was Crybaby Walker in second grade, and he's Crybaby Walker when he comes home now.

It made his family and friends act different around him. They had good intentions, John knew that. But it still makes his eyes burn when he thinks about it. They didn't go places they thought he would get overwhelmed in and start crying. He could be well into his teens, and adults still used that stupid soft voice on him.

He thought once he grew up and joined the army, things would get better. That was until a drill supervisor screamed in his face at basic, and he broke down sniffling. When Mister and Missus Hoskins got the letter from John ranting to them about it, the paper was warped because of the tear drops.

And now it's present day, and he's in his 30's, and well past the age he should be crying about anything besides someone literally dying.

Yet he still feels his eyes well up when Bucky won't listen to him on his course of action during the mission.

And he hates himself for it.

Something that pisses me off about the Star Wars fandom is the insistence that Padme was wanting to tell people about their relationship, but Anakin wasn't. When, in ROTS, Anakin wants to tell Obi Wan and Padme tells him to keep it a secret.

There are times, likely during TCW, when Anakin insists on the secret keeping. But Padme is not faultless. She insists on secrecy as much as the fandom assumes that Anakin does.

People keep trying to make Padme out to be sensible. She's not. She married Anakin after he committed a genocide against the Tuskan Sand People. If she were sensible, she would not have had them go to 'rescue' Obi-Wan, she would not have confessed her love right before they were executed, and she would not have married him. She's crazy. She matches Anakin's crazy.

We love her for that. But it is just slowly driving me mad.

A lot of people are hook, line, and sinker for the opposites attract trope, meaning if one member of the relationship is emotional, irrational, and impulsive, then the other by default must be level-headed, sensible, and calculating. This ignores the age old birds of a feather trope, meaning that sometimes member #1's crazy recognizes #2's crazy and hones in on it like a beacon.

Y’know what I’ve been recently thinking about, in regards to Billy Hargrove?

His Camaro has California license plates in season 2.

That means, that to get it from California to Indiana, he would’ve had to drive it there (because shipping a car would not be something Neil Hargrove would pay for).

And it’s a near certain possibility he drove it there on his own - Max was probably with Susan and Neil (whether they were flying, or also driving).

So Billy would’ve been by himself. In his beloved car…driving to a state and town he knew he was gonna hate.

And I just wonder how many times he considered driving in a different direction entirely, or turning around and going back to California…going literally anywhere else….

But maybe he thought about how Neil might track him down eventually, and how mad he’d be…

Or maybe…he thought about Max. And even though he didn’t have boat loads of affection for the little twerp…there was something inside of him that told him that he couldn’t just leave her alone with Neil

So he kept driving…to Hawkins-fucking-Indiana…

i saw this post on reddit the other day that said jaime's arc in feast is about him becoming tywin and that's not even worth engaging with for just epically stupid levels of ignoring what's in the text but it got me thinking about how much of feast is jaime mining the carcass of tywin's existence for anything of value

jaime's an accidental and reluctant philosopher but there's this overt hand of george element to watching jaime pick through ilyn payne's rooms looking at the absolute wreck that devoted service to tywin made of ilyn's life and you have jaime there dragging ilyn out of his cave into the sunlight to try to give him a chance at living the sort of worthwhile life jaime imagines he once intended to live

there's nothing subtle in the way this relates to jaime's view of his own life.

then jaime's wandering through the crownlands and riverlands looking at the absolute decimation tywin left in his wake with no delusions about tywin's responsibility for it (or his own tbh) which makes it almost magical when jaime reaches down tywin's gullet into the guts of his dad's advice and legacy and looks at the gore he pulls out, weighing and evaluating what's worth using and what isn't. and then he's like well i can use this song as a weapon, i can use words as a weapon, i can weaponize the horror of tywin in a way that spares people the actual physical harm of tywin's favorite methods as much as i possibly can

trauma isn't always weak victimhood; crying and letting people walk all over you

sometimes it's being angry and taking that anger out onto other people. sometimes it's unchecked aggression. sometimes it's self harm.

everyone says they want characters with complexities and trauma but they can't handle it when that trauma isn't palatable.

they can't handle traumatized characters when that trauma makes them ugly.

broke take: billy hargrove objectifies women and wants nothing more than sex

woke take: billy hargrove uses sex as an outlet (form of self harm) because he seeks validation from women because the woman he needs the most (his mom) abandoned him. hypersexuality is a trauma response.

broke: billy hargrove is abusive towards max

woke: billy hargrove is an angry teen who is grappling with his mother leaving him with an abusive father, this mother he loved so dearly being replaced with another woman he doesn't know, and his entire life being uprooted and moved to bumfuck nowhere indiana and thus leaving behind his home (aka his comfort and safety). additionally, he mirrors the anger that his father takes out on him onto others around him, like most abused children do.

max says so herself. he had always been a dick but since they moved he became angry. we can't fully assume what their relationship was before the move but if i had to guess it must've been mostly distant. they coexisted in the same house but never claimed to be family. the misguided aggression likely came about once they began the move.

billy hargrove was made for those of us with trauma that made us unpalatable.
