Final senior semester Mr. Lancer has his class make a story that is told through any other medium but writing.
Danny, Tucker, Sam and Dash create and unreality/arg YouTube account under Dash’s name.
They start off with Dash recording blog like post of his life as a senior in a small town called amity park (minus all the ghost fights) for a final project.
Then the real project starts with a video titled “going through my freshmen yearbook”
Where he shares fond memories he has with everyone in his class. Until he stops and pauses at the photo of Danny before chuckling awkwardly and mentioning that he doesn’t actually remember this guy and stating that he’ll see if there’s a story he’s not remembering before moving.
The video’s start taking a turn as he starts updating his confusion on Danny Fenton as he’s been asking around and everyone has adamantly responded that there has never been a kid in that town by that name.
The thing is that Dash has physical proof that Danny grew up with him and the others.
Dash keeps delving deeper and deeper bringing out old keepsakes like old recitals and photographs and places that showed proof of this mysterious Danny.
Eventually he makes a playlist simply titled ‘Danny is missing’.
The longer he post the more he realizes that Danny wasn’t just a person in town but seemingly very important in Dash’s life.
He starts sneakily recording conversations he has with other people when he brings up Danny.
Dash gets more paranoid and starts shutting. Himself in and focusing all of his energy into finding out who is Danny.
Starts theorizing when Danny went missing.
And of course in the background or darkness of the videos Danny’s doing his thing and fucking with the recording or just being creepy in general.
Eventually the story plays out as so:
Dash and Danny were childhood friends who used to play in forest that connected to the back of their properties.
Eventually they had a falling out due to Danny becoming friends with Tucker, who unlike Dash had both of his parent’s approval to hang out with the local ghost hunter’s kid.
Dash to became Danny’s bully through their younger years before they reconciled and became friends again and eventually they fell in love.
Dash’s dad, who Dash thought was just a deadbeat, is a bigot, who eventually found out about the boys and proceeded to brutally beat both of them Bloody.
Danny succumbed to his injuries and Dash’s father was arrested.
It is revealed that Dash has retrograde amnesia due to the incident, and everyone in town decided it was best for Dash not to know the real reason he was in the hospital and focus on recovering.
Afterwards, no one knew how to break the news to him so they just kept up the charade, there was never a Danny Fenton, so there was no need for Dash to go through any misplaced guilt or grief for someone he couldn’t even remember.
Everyone got so caught up in the lie that no one really took the time to actually grieve themselves.
The series ends on the implications that closure is important and that sometimes the things you do to protect someone can do more harm than good.
Dash’s character ends the series with his last update where he talks about going to a city near by and checking himself into medical facility for his own well being.
To say that Mr. Lancer was impressed is an understatement.
Say what you will about “filler episodes,” but the reason “I loaf you” hits the way it does is because you watched Really Small Problems.
And that’s kind of why it hits for King too. It tells him his dad really was watching over him. He didn’t just show up for the final conflict when things got too dangerous to handle. He was paying attention, even when King was just making silly jokes with his friends, even in those parts of his life that weren’t part of the fight with Belos.
Breaking news! Vicky Vale leaks footage of Brucie Wayne following the new teenage rogue 'Phantom' around the city saying "Please let me adopt you 😭"
Phantom refuses and saying he's a supervillian not a lost puppy.
Turns out this was a part of Bruces plan however as Phantom now sees people all over tv talking about him and the Waynes and already considering him a new member of the family. They're even asking when there will be a face reveal. There was a reason he was wearing a mask! He. Is.. A. Villian. What about that do these people not get?!
Sure he doesn't kill people. Or hurt people at all really. Or steal from small family owned businesses. Or...yeah ok. Just because you're a bad guy doesn't mean you have to be a bad guy, ya know? Apparently Gotham doesn't.
Oh no! Poor Danny! Just imagine if he's that one vvillain who keepa accidentally saving the day.
Releases a gas attack that makes people sleep? Knocks out Joker too. Steals money from a rich dude? Actually a mobster, Danny crippled his crime fund. Kidnaps a kid for random? Kids being abused and it comes out dying the negotiations.
Just, Danny not being able to effectively crime at all. And frankly, Gotham would love their funky little crime baby who can do do no wrong. Look, he's trying not be a mobster it's cute. Gotham is a city of crime and curses. They love their baby crime lord. He pays his people well. Protects them. Puts money into local charity to help his neighbours. He's like Red Hood lite.
Jason finds it hilarious. This poor kid is trying so hard to be scary. And it just doesn't happen. Yes he is slowly building a crime family. But everything they do just uncovers corruption and abuse. Of course Jason has realised that's not the kids intent. He's pretty sure Gotham herself is causing it to Fuck with the kid. But he enjoys watching. And hey, if he offers some advice and a willing ear? Maybe he can get the kid to do it on purpose. He clearly has a talent for it!
Now I'm just imagining that Jazz shows up at some point. And like, Phantom? He's Baby (TM) Gotham adores him and his absolute in ability to successfully Crime.
Phantom's big sister?
Fucking Terrifying.
And it's all just *vibes* and misunderstandings. Jazz is actively trying to Not Crime and just Be Normal while also supporting Danny's (failing) Villain Era because he's not actually hurting anyone and he could use the release of not being the hero who has to take on all the responsibility. And his Goons are so sweet!
But look, that Mob Boss he (accidentally) robbed? Yeah he's pretty much wiped out funds wise but he still has *enough* money to organize people going after Danny in revenge. And Jazz is Not Having That thank you very much.
She scares the mob boss so much when he shows up with his boys (thankfully Danny wasn't there) that he has an actual heart attack. And look she tried to save him! She did CPR! She called for an ambulance! It's not her fault his heart was one more snort of coke away from stopping and she didn't even get Liminal on him! She just threatened him in a (largely) normal human way! Sure the sword might have been overkill but he was threatening her brother!
And yeah okay she *might* have been secretly following Danny around at night to make sure he was safe (old habits die hard) and she *might* have been a touch eldritch while she was doing it. It's easier to hide in the shadows if you don't have a tangible form! It's not her fault that she loses her human shape and sorta becomes inconprehensible to non-ghost folk that do end up seeing her and that sometimes people's minds sorta break a little if they stare for too long. The psychosis is temporary!
She doesn't regret what happened with the Joker. Danny hated clowns and the evil little shit started it, not her fault he couldn't leave well enough alone. He's not even dead (technically) she should get points for that he threatened to kill Danny!
Just like:
Danny, in the midst of another crime spree: Fear me!
Gotham: Baby Boy. Baby.
Jazz, just sorta standing in the background trying to mind her own business and keep her brother safe: *smiles and waved politely*
They finally ask her about his attempts to crime and she describes it as a nice low-stakes way to destress from his previous life. The adoption attempts intensify.
Jazz: He needed a holiday you kniw? He was under so much pressure. I helped as much as I could! And I am going to be here to make sure he is safe!
Gotham: Ah, she will murder people to keep him safe. Good to know. The baby has scary back up. Good good. Wait. Baby was being hurt? Who by? We just wanna talk!
Jazz: Oh don't worry! I already sorted it the problem! It's why it took me so long to get here to keep an eye on my brother!
Gotham: ohh. Ok. Well. Good to know! *Fuck she's scary*
Bruce out here lioe, gotta keep Dick away from her. He will try to climb her like a tree. Fuck. At least the child is safe? Good good.
The big discourse on twitter right now is that writers going on strike or cancelling their own series are breaking an invisible “contract” they made with their fans and all creators owe their fans a satisfying conclusion to their stories.
Actually if a creator says “I don’t want to perform this labor anymore,” then regardless of the cliffhanger that leaves you with, your only response should be “take care! Thank you for all your hard work!!!” :)
wake up babe new elon crybaby just dropped. you can no longer make fun of someone for having twitter blue. he is equating jokes against twitter blue to the likes of racism, sexism and ableism. this is real.
So Sam is forced to one of her families galas, and Danny is also forced to go because he had convinced Jack and Maddie that it would be good for his future carer
Sam and Danny find this out after complaining to each other, once they realised they were both going to the same gala they started planning
.
.
.
Every member of the Batfam hated galas with a passion and Jason had thought he got out of this one when he got an alert that Joker was crashing Wayne gala
He was annoyed obviously
So he didn't know how to react when as he arrived 2 teenagers were half beating the shit out of joker and half dancing
All the goons were stuck to walls and furniture, and all the gala attendants were perfectly fine, there was also phineas and ferb songs and my little pony songs playing in the background
A girl in a poofy purple dress with knee-high combat boots was dancing to the cartoon songs while stomping on the jokers back
And a black-haired teen in a ripped-up suit with mismatched combat boots was dancing with the girl while kicking the joker's teeth in
He started recording...
.
.
.
Sam and Danny planned for a week, they would sneak in and set up speakers with my little pony and Phineas and Ferb songs, 2 sets of combat boots and a Fenton blaster modified to shoot a glue like substance
So in the middle of the gala Sam and Danny started their playlist
They gave no fucks
For the first 15 minutes, they were just smashing furniture(their rich they can pay) and giving people the finger while dancing with each other to cartoon songs
Then they hopped up on tables and started firing their Fenton blasters everywhere
It was the best
So like hell they were stopping just because Bobo the wannabe clown decided to drop by
There are many (conflicting, false, confusing) iterations of the Ghost King’s summoning circle. Some call for sacrifices, some say that a human sacrifice will spell certain death for everyone involved. Some call for grave dirt and blood blossoms, some for burgers and a Nintendo 3ds. Some insist that the king comes wreathed in flames spouting from his infernal crown, others claim that his presence is deathly cold and coats everything in ice.
The only thing that they all agree on, in every single iteration, is to always, always summon him indoors. If you don’t confine him in a room when he is summoned, he will escape somehow. Many speculate that this has something to do with the fact that his portal always, strangely, opens on the ceiling.
…
Danny found a loophole. Summoning circles – which suck, btw – confine him to staying within the area outlined by the circle…… but it doesn’t have a limit on how high he can go!
He’s used this method many times to go stargaze while cultists piss themselves or whatever. He doesn’t really know - or care! - what they do down there, so long as they don’t follow him into space.
Only problem lately is that they seem to have caught on a bit about his trick? So there have been several (slightly embarrassing) instances where he’s opened a portal as high as he could, expecting the freeing feeling of zero-g in deep space… only to instead fall flat on his face on the hard concrete ground.
The justice league FINALLY investigates Amity, and realizes that they’ve made a grave mistake by letting a burgeoning hero shoulder a large problem without any training or support. They rectify this immediately by offering a position in the JL along with an assortment of mentors and other teen heroes to bond with.
Red Huntress receives this invitation in front of Phantom, while actively trying to hunt him down.
An astronaut was Danny's dream job as a kid, everyone knew that. But the accident made it a bit hard for him to actually achieve that. As in he physically couldn't.
So, he took the next best option-- become an engineer for the Watchtower. For heroes. In space.
Nothing could go wrong with that, surely.
He didn't write down how he was Phantom, or how he died, or that he was a halfa-- only what he needed and that he had a medical condition that made his heart rate slow.
Thankfully, the heroes more or less bought it-- Batman was still skeptical, but Danny did good work, so it was fine. It wasn't like he was going to risk exposure in any way.
Not until Wes Weston was hired anyway.
Danny stared at the friend in front of him, who'd become an extra help in the Watchtower due to his great detective work and his tendency to recognize an issue before it became too big of an issue.
Wes stared at him.
Danny didn't go around advocating that he worked for heroes, that'd be stupid, but he didn't think he'd have the one person that figured out his ID like that as his coworker.
But, still, Danny pulled Wes to the side as soon as he physically could and explained that no, the heroes did not need to know who he was or what he was, okay?
And it'd be fine, except for the fact that Wes could neither lie or keep his mouth shut to save his life.
So whenever there was talk about some rogue that gave a hero a slight bit of trouble and Wes and Danny were near, Wes would just... stare. Directly at Danny.
Sometimes he even had to hold back laughter under his breath so that a hero didn't notice (Batman definitely did).
It would've been fine if not for the fact that multiple heroes had superhearing and Danny elbowing Wes to shut him up was pretty obvious.
**based on a prompt by @purple-goo-writes about Danny getting a job as a club singer for Penguin- I hope y'all like it!**
Oswald Cobblepot watched as his lounge’s newest acquisition crooned on stage, the crowd transfixed by the young man’s stunning voice. The Penguin was beginning to notice that the Iceberg’s profits went up by twenty percent every night this particular new hire was singing, and he had plans to promote the kid. Daniel Nightingale lived up to his name.
He’d stumbled into the young man in an alley, starving and beaten, and offered him a cleaning job. Daniel had taken him up on it, after his sharp blue eyes searched Oswald’s face like he could see his very soul. One of his bartenders had heard the young man singing while he worked a few weeks in, and soon enough, Daniel was the Iceberg’s crowning glory, even if he didn’t know it himself.
Oswald would make sure the young man knew how valuable he was to the Penguin and never left.
Danny gave a short bow to the crowd after his last song, and they all made noises of disappointment as he slipped off the stage through the door in the back. It had been several months since he’d started singing at the Iceberg, and he was thriving. Penguin had started paying him more for less work- Two nights a week he sang, enchanting the denizens of Gotham’s underworld.
It was probably cheating, that he was using some ghostly tricks picked up from Ember, but it’s not like the GIW existed in this universe to track him down.
“Siren! Boss wants you in the VIP lounge before you take off.”
Matt, his security detail, was waiting for him outside his dressing room.
“Sure! Walk me up?”
Danny winked at Matt, who just rolled his eyes.
“Happily married, Siren. Let’s go.”
With a laugh, Danny turned to head up the back steps to the VIP area, swinging his hips a little to make Matt sigh in exasperation.
He wasn’t truly interested in Matt- nor anyone else he’d met in the dimension, but as he began to be fed on a regular basis and filled out more, he found that people thought he was attractive, and he enjoyed the attention. It was far different from being reviled as a nerd or even as the local menace. The attention of people who wanted him felt easier to control even than the attention he received from the ghosts as their king.
The door to the VIP balcony swung open as he approached, and he was waved through. Plastering a sultry smile on his face, he slunk through the tables, winking at patrons as he made his way to his boss.
The Penguin was sitting in a comfortable chair on a raised dais, across the table from a man Danny hadn’t seen in the Iceberg before. The stranger was wearing a domino mask, and had a streak of white through otherwise black hair.
“Thank you for coming, Siren. Please, sit!”
An attendant melted out of the shadows with a third chair, placed beside the bossman. Danny smiled gratefully at the attendant and settled into the chair.
He wasn’t sure what Penguin wanted- sometimes he called Danny up just to show him off in his glittering dress that clung to his skin, and sometimes he called Danny up to read whether a person was trustworthy or not.
“Siren, Mr. Hood here was suggesting a possible business deal- why don’t you hear him out and tell me what you think?”
Ah, reading. Danny could do that.
“I don’t have time for nonsense, Cobblepot.”
The man’s growl raised goosebumps on Danny’s arms, and he had to take a moment to collect himself. Damned if that wasn’t sexy as hell.
“Oh, but Mister Hood, I’d love to hear about your business proposal! What my employer does with his money affects us too, you know- if the business proposal falls through….” Danny batted his eyelashes at the man. “I’m sure you know what happens to the bottom line.”
Red Hood sighed, and then began to explain himself.
Danny didn’t listen to the actual proposal more than he needed to make the appropriate noises. Instead he listened to the tone and cadence of the crime lord’s voice, the way his body moved as he spoke. Everything screamed sincerity, even the small, half-formed core pulsing in the man.
Wait. Hold up. Turn around, go back. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. A core? Here? In someone so clearly still living?
He would have to investigate, but later. His employer was beginning to look to him for a verdict.
“Wow! That sure does sound interesting,” simpering, Danny stood and wrapped an arm around Penguin’s shoulders. “I think you should hear him out, boss- he seems pretty up-and-up to me!”
Penguin smiled sharply up at him and then waved him away.
Danny could feel the stranger’s eyes on him as he left, swaying back to where Matt was waiting at the door.
~~
Look. Danny didn’t intend to get into this situation on his day off, but things just happened to him that didn’t happen to other people. Sam and Tucker would call it the “Fenton Luck”.
Danny didn’t think luck was involved at all.
If luck had been involved, the weird clown wouldn’t have attacked him with a crowbar. If luck had been involved, Danny wouldn’t have responded like he would with a ghost. If. Luck. Had. Been. Involved, the clown would not have flown back into a brick wall and then slumped like a marionette with it’s strings cut.
Stepping forward, Danny leaned down to check his victim’s pulse, but reeled back when he got a good look at the man’s face.
The Joker’s sightless eyes stared back up at him.
Ancients.
“Whatcha got there, sweet thing?”
Luck had nothing to do with anything in Danny’s life, ever. He was cursed somehow, that had to be it.
“A bagel?”
Harley Quinn hopped off the roof and came to investigate Danny’s dead body.
“Sure looks to me like an ex-boyfriend of mine, and not at all bagel shaped. You didn’t even leave a hole in him!”
“I’m…. Sorry?”
Harley grinned up at him, all teeth and a fierce light in her eyes.
“No need, sugar, you did a good thing. What I wonder is why the gas hasn’t triggered?”
Danny laughed nervously- he couldn’t help it, his fear response was laughter!
“Gas?”
“Mhmm! Had his body rigged, the bastard. Joker gas should have spread for six blocks or more when his vitals stopped.”
“Oh. I- you won’t tell the bats, will you?”
“My lips are sealed! I don’t owe Batsy anything!”
With a sigh, Danny shrugged.
“I’m a meta. Joker gas preys on fear, and so do I. The gas must have triggered, but I’m close enough that I filtered it pretty fast.”
Harley put her hands on her hips.
“Batsy doesn’t like metas much.”
“The Bat can suck it.”
She laughed and slung an arm over his shoulder.
“I like you, kid! Let me call my body disposal squad.”
“Oh. Okay.”
Ten minutes later, Poison Ivy and the Red Hood walked into the alley, looking around cautiously. Harley had talked Danny into braiding her hair, and was chatting amiably at Danny.
“-And that’s why Bill owes me a trip to Cabo. I don’t plan to collect, though, he’s just a henchman. Ives! Thanks for coming!”
Red Hood put his hands on his hips.
“I get why you called her, Harley, but why me?”
Harley tilted her head, pulling her hair out of Danny’s hands carelessly.
“You deserve to see him before he disappears, kid. The whole of Gotham deserves that, but we can’t risk it.”
“See who?”
She pointed at the body, and Red Hood went to inspect it. While he did so, Ivy walked up to Danny, peering down on him.
“I know you.”
“Hi, Dr. Isley.”
“I was right! You work for Oswald. Almost didn’t recognize you without your getup. I take it this was your doing?”
“Yes ma’am, although entirely on accident.”
She laughed, and Danny smiled too.
“One we’re all glad for. Thank you.”
There were stomping footsteps, and Red Hood was suddenly in front of them. Harley stood up from the box she’d been sitting on, shielding Danny with her body.
“You did this?”
Danny the angry pulsing of the Hood’s half-formed core. It felt similar to the way his own core had felt when he was forced away from Amity Park. He slid out from between Harley and Ivy and held out his hand.
Hood took it, whether on purpose or unconsciously.
“Hi. Danny Nightingale. I just avenged thousands by accident. Please don’t kill me.”
The pulsing turned from anger to relief, and the Red Hood laughed. It sounded odd through the modulator in the helmet, but Danny smiled along nonetheless.
Danny and Dani both have corpses that were buried in a forest that has a reputation for being haunted.
The JL Dark is called in because rumors of two young spirits dancing and playing as they protected a single well in the middle of the woods got too big to ignore, especially since they keep pranking people who get to close, so the JLD has to go to middle of nowhere Illinois and they're all vaguely upset about it.
Boston has been called because ghosts, Constantine because he deals with that shit and also to help communicate, and Zatanna because they don't know what's out there. They don't know if they need to put spirits to rest or just check up on them.
They come across Danny and Dani sitting together with Sam and Tuck, who are immediately clocked as a plant witch and some sort of mage. All of them can see Boston and are really happy to see another ghost that isn't attacking them.
"We've been sent to check in on you tykes. Can you tell us what's going on."
Dani giggles the sound childlike and eerie in equal measure.
"Me and Danny are protecting our grave. We like causing a little mischief now and then."
"And you others?"
"What's it to you." The Young plant witch huffed
"Cool it Sam. Me and Sam are Danny's best friends, we watched him die and we're not leaving him alone now." The boy who to Constantine smelled like Egyptian magic was telling the truth.
"Your grave?" It was Boston who asked. Danny, the only one yet to speak pointed to the well in the middle of the clearing where they sat.
"That's where our bodies are. Mine and my baby," He visibly collected himself. "And the others but my other darlings don't have ghosts."
They get permission for the well to be cleared from the ghosts and find quite a few skeletons, as well as animal bones, but the ones they match to the ghosts are a female teenager and a baby ("That's my body" Dani giggles, "I'm growing after death" it's almost a cackle.")
The JLD is left with what they think is a murder investigation, probably of a serial killer or someone obsessed with the ghosts when they were alive. When asked how She died all Dani would say was "Papa killed me, Daddy held me close"
The misunderstanding is furthered, and they are left with the idea that Danny is her biological mother/father and the other parent killed both him and her and quite a few others, the fact that the skeleton was a teenager makes them ever more sad and sick to their stomachs
Danny is in Gotham and smacks a sticker on the batmobile, not knowing what car he just vandalized. Now he spends his free time at night trying to 'tag' batfamily with stickers. The Bats also make it a game to collect as many stickers as possible
This is an extremely rough outline of my ghost king design in full. I think i got the crown of fire how I want it finally. it's a crown of thorns with tiny blue fire like flowers around it.
Scythe might look like a weapon, but is actually a tool for making new temporary portals to the living realm. The blue wood markings on the handle move around (makes it easier for me to draw and not have to remember the pattern. AND is a neat idea imo)
Shadowy ghost crow is just a little friend.
the cloak is actually something from pariah's old wardrobe. Danny liked it and tried to trim it up a little. Kept it somewhat long so he could use it like a blanket if he wanted to nap.
Today was a bad brain day. That was the first thing Danny had realized as he laid beside Tim and let the other man rest his head on Danny’s bicep. On the other side of the human, Conner laid down, wrapping his strong arm around the man’s waist and burying his face in between Tim’s shoulder blades.
No one ever tells you that being a supervillain is so fucking hard. That there would be days where you struggled to even get out of bed. When they had each chosen this life, they knew it would be hard. That there would be days where they questioned if what they were doing really was for the greater good of the world–even if the Justice League didn’t see it that way.
That was the biggest thing, Danny had mused. They weren’t really villains, not to anyone except for the Justice League and the eyes of the government. Most of the citizens in this world loved the duo.
“It’s okay, we’re here,” Danny whispered as Tim let out a sob. He ran his fingers through his hair as he and Conner held their little super genius close. Today was one of the harder days. It was the anniversary of the day Bruce Wayne had officially disowned Tim Drake. It was a bittersweet day considering how it had ended between them. On one hand, Tim had felt liberated, no longer under the thumb of Batman, the World’s Greatest Detective and Control Freak. But on the other hand, he had lost the only real father figure he had ever had.
The day Tim had gone on his own, he had lost practically everyone. Danny wanted to hate Bruce for it, but it had also been the reason he had met Tim in the first place. It had been just five years ago now, the day that Tim had first summoned Danny.
He pressed a kiss to Tim’s head as another sob wracked through his lithe frame and Conner’s arms tighten just a bit around Tim as the man buried his face in Danny’s chest.
“We’re here, we love you,” Conner whispered in Tim’s ear, voice hushed, calming.
They had met just a few days after Tim had gotten into a screaming match with Bruce–a fight that Conner and Danny still didn’t have all the details for. He had gone off on his own, determined to destroy the League of Assassins once and for all and to have Ra’s Al Ghul die by his hand. He had summoned the Ghost King to find out about the secrets of the Lazarus Waters. Upon learning about them and Ra’s, though, Danny had decided to help get rid of them for good. No one was meant to live forever, not the way Ra’s was doing it at least. It was easy to say that once Danny learned of how the assassin cult was using the corrupted ectoplasm, he was more than ready to help take them down.
Between the two of them, they had completely destroyed the League and Ra’s. Upon learning about it, Tim’s family had been horrified. Apparently they had been holding out hope that he wouldn’t go through with his plans, that he wouldn’t fall so far and fast from the pedestal he had once stood on as Red Robin. They had cut him off, decided that Tim had crossed a line and they were unwilling to forgive him for it. Surprisingly, the only one who had stayed in touch was Jason.
“Family pariahs have to stick together,” he had said. It also hadn’t helped that Danny had managed to heal the pit rage inside of him and supplement it with a healthy ghost core.
The others, though, had declared Tim a rogue for his actions. Dick had even gone as far as saying that Tim had hit supervillain status and was on the same level as Lex Luthor. Danny didn’t see it that way. In his opinion, all they had done was get rid of an organization that would never truly stop killing, no matter how many times Batman and co. fought them.
“I just want to forget about it,” Tim whispered, his fingers bunched in Danny’s shirt.
After they had destroyed the league, the couple had fallen in love, they had finally found someone who was at the same level. They were the perfect puzzle pieces for one another. And once Danny had felt close enough to Tim, he had told him his trauma, shared with him the pain he had never told another living soul.
And Tim? Well he went out that very night and placed a few explosives in just the right spots. And they had done their jobs. The GIW and the Fentons would never harm Danny again. He had the vivisection scars to remind him of the pain that they had caused but he would never see them again. It was then that the young ghost king had decided that he would follow Tim to the ends of the earth, do whatever Tim wanted from him.
He may have been the Ghost King but Tim was his monarch and he was prepared to worship him any time and any place, prepared to do whatever bidding he desired. And it was then that Savior and Reaper had made their names known far and wide.
Tim had declared himself the savior, promising to destroy those that the Justice League were too cowardly to fight, and he had declared Danny his loyal right hand man, his knight to command, his reaper.
The people saw them as heroes, finally doing what others wouldn’t. Everyone else saw them as supervllains. TIm liked to call themselves the necessary evils. Conner liked to say that they were just doing what the heroes were too cowardly to do. They were willing to darken their own souls if it meant saving others.
They had run into Conner shortly after Reaper and Savior had killed the Joker and sent his soul to the Nightmare Realm where he would suffer for all of eternity. He had known Tim from his heroes days and knew that if anyone would help him, it would be Tim. Soon Savior, Reaper and their newest member,Champion, had made their move and Lex Luthor had become their newest target. For a man who had done so much damage, it had been laughable at how easy it was to kill him once and for all. Danny had made sure to give him a special place in the Nightmare Realms for the pain he had caused Conner.
The team had made a name for themselves, they hadn’t come up with a name but Danny had heard the whispers of stories and myths, of how others would reverently call them the world’s new furies. They had become gods of vengence. Tim had been likened to Alecto for being unceasing, Danny had been compared to Tisiphone for being avenging, and Conner had been dubbed Megaera for being grudging.
So they had taken it for themselves, the Furies of the New World they were called, or just Furies for short.
“I know you do, baby,” Danny murmured. “But it’s a part of you, it’s who you are.”
“I miss them,” Tim said with a whimper, curling in on himself. Oh their fearless leader, Tim who had called himself Savior and swore to protect the world from injustice, who despite himself being powerless himself, kept two of the most powerful beings on tight leashes behind him, ready to unleash them into the world on his command. And yet he still was just so small, he trusted Danny and Conner so much that he allowed them to see through the facade, to force their way through the cracks and see the broken man he had become.
Some say that you have to sell your soul to become a fighter for the people. Danny was pleased to say it wasn’t true, he saw Tim’s soul, saw his love to his bones and knew him better than anyone in the world.
“I miss talking to Alfred, sparring with Bruce, late night Bat Burger with Dick–I miss my life. I just, was this all a mistake? Is Bruce right? Did we go too far in our mission? Did I lose my family for nothing?” Tim whispered, wracking his fingers through Danny’s hair, petting him slowly. The ghost nearly purred at his lover’s touch.
“We can stop if you want,” Danny offered quietly. “I can get Clockwork to reset time, let us start all over, let you decide-”
“No,” Tim said sternly. “I don’t want to forget what we’ve done. We’ve helped too many people for that. I’m just being a baby,” he said softly, folding in on himself slightly.
“We can have Danny take us to a completely different dimension,” Conner offered, his thumb rubbed along Tim’s hipbone. “We can make new lives, leave all of this behind. We’ll make you happy, Tim, happier than you can even imagine.”
“We’re still needed,” Tim said, squeezing his eyes shut tight. “We still have so much to make right, to fix. I just miss the life I had, it doesn’t mean I hate the new one. I’m sorry-”
“Don’t be,” Danny told him seriously, moving to rest his head on his hand and looked down at Tim. “We all have our days. Timmy, my parents cut me apart limb from limb and there are still days I miss them, where I miss the life I had before all of this. It’s how the world goes.”
“The two of you make life so much easier,” Tim whispered, looking between his two lovers, tears collected in the corners of his eyes. Conner swiped a thumb across both, wiping them away. “I’m glad I have both of you here with me, I feel less insane, less out of control.”
“You’re not insane or out of control,” Danny murmured before he pressed forward and kissed Tim’s pouty lips softly.
“Yeah,” Conner murmured, pushing Tim’s shirt up slowly so that he could tweak a nipple softly. “You’re our fearless leader.”
“And we’re your strong henchmen,” Danny finished, and nipped at Tim’s nose, making his precious lover giggle.
“You aren’t henchmen, we’re partners,” Tim argued, glaring at both of them. Danny and Conner just grinned at one another before they looked at Tim.
“Nope,” Conner said. “You’re the brains and we’re the brawn.”
“We’ll follow you anywhere,” Danny said reverently. “Why do you think I call you my Northstar?”
Danny was visiting his cousin, Cassandra 'Cass' Cain, in Gotham with his children siblings, Dan and Ellie, while his friends stayed behind at Amity to protect it from the other ghosts. They were waiting at a cafe Cass told them he would meet them when Red Hood appeared out of nowhere falling on top of Danny, who had fallen into the ground, in an awkward suggestive position.
Let's it be said that Danny always liked them wild and deadly...
