Thinking about making a text based (or maybe but less likely visual novel) choose your own adventure kind of Pokémon mystery dungeon fangame, because of how well that kind of game would fit the series.

Like, people are into mystery dungeon for the story, so a text based game would allow for a lot of shit to be easily added that couldn't be in the main games. Like your chosen species effecting things like fights, how you adjust to your new body based on if you're quadripedal or bipedal, how you learn to use your abilities, etc.

And pmd fans like it for the story, setting, lore, and oc potential moreso than the actual gameplay, so I could probably get a lot of support and help for a game like that to keep me motivated and productive.

You could get different perks or dialog for events depending on your species or partner species too! Like, maybe you're the one to start the campfire because you're a fire type, maybe if you're a Pikachu and your partner a totodile, you could have fun swimming with them, but you couldn't if you were a fire type.

Maybe your partner has to rely on you for stuff like handling items because they're an eevee, but you as a riolu have hands.

If it was text based I could put in as little or as much visuals as I wanted too. Like I could draw an npc as having multiple expressions or portraits or leave it blank text, and coding would be simple enough for me to understand. Pretty much anything I wanted to add I could just. Write into it, without worrying about breaking the whole game engine doing the gamedev equivalent of making a beef wellington with a toaster.

Like there's just. A lot of potential so I have to ask if any of yall would be interested in this. You could help as little or as much as you want, or even just stay in the discord server I'm yet to make and observe.

dont mean to sound sappy or cliche or whatever but pokemon mystery dungeon: explorers of time/darkness/sky really is a beautifully and lovingly crafted story that takes you on such a touching journey with characters of all personalities that enables you to experience and eventually come to appreciate the value of life and the smallest things that make life something worth living. it really should have more fans for the soundtrack it provides and grand adventure it offers. this game got me through some very dark times in my life and im so glad it exists.

Huge fan of how the PMD creators originally considered having Pokémon speak in their own language and then casually drop the translation in parentheses.
