#ActsofPride Day 12 -Â Take a mental health break
We partnered with Tumblr Creatr @animatedtext to make an original piece for todayâs #ActsofPride. Hereâs what the prompt meant to her:
âItâs not always easy for me to prioritize mental health during stressful times. Over the years Iâve learned that small breaks make life more manageable. I was inspired by organizations like Therapy for Black Girls and Beam who provide mental health resources to the black community year round.â
Take care of yourself, Tumblr. <3
@myself, stim healthily, jfc.
I made a thing

Shoutout to autistics who are struggling with all the changes happening right now. Youâre doing amazing and Iâm super proud of you â€ïž
Some userboxes bc working in customer service is fucking exhausting
so like Iâm all for supporting people who are told they donât âlookâ autistic!!! but can we also talk about and support those of us who get immediately recognized in public and get weird looks and whispers and baby talk from complete strangers because people can ALWAYS tell thereâs something 'differentâ about us
so shout out to the fucking weirdos who are all categorized as âlow functioningâ so ableists can categorize us as the âBADâ autistics that everyone hears horror stories about
we arenât here a problem and we arenât your 'low functioningâ 'mentally a childâ sob stories to be pitied or mocked and infantalized for functioning differently, and autism moms can shove their self pity straight up their asses for how they treat their â"badââ autistics
if you arenât down to support people who get quickly recognized as 'differentâ (read: autistic) then youâre not down to support autistic people at all. this goes for everyone.
autistic people who donât "passâ (who came up with autistic passing privilege??) because everyone sees them as different/cringy/weird have absolutely nothing wrong with them and are amazing and beautiful and so strong for putting up with ableist bullshit daily from people who believe the only âgoodâ autistic is one you donât know is autistic.
!!!
Autistics: We want to be treated like people and have our voices be heard.
Autism $peaks: We can help you with that.
Autism $peaks: *portrays autism as a disease."
Autism $peaks: *uses only person-first language.*
Autism $peaks: *makes us seem incompetent.*
Autism $peaks: *portrays us as burdens.*
Autism $peaks: *has almost no autistic people on their board of directors.*
Autism $peaks: *infantilizes autistic adults.*
Autism $peaks: *talks over actually autistic people.
Autism $peaks: *portrays us as broken.*
Autism $peaks: *advocates for ABA Therapy.*
Autism $peaks: *spends most of their money on finding a cure or for their salaries or for eugenics.*
Autistics: *protest again A$.*
Autism $peaks: Why do you hate us? We've done nothing but advocate for you this whole time!
so about april
so apparently april is âautism awareness monthâ and a ton of well-meaning people are gonna be 'lighting it up blueâ. most of them have good intentions but please oh my GOD DONâT. DO NOT.
the whole 'light it up blueâ thing was started by a 'charityâ called autism $peaks, who basically treat autistic people as sub-human, have rallied with racist hate groups, and believe autistic people are tragedies who need to be cured. members of autism $peaks have literally spoken about killing their autistic kids while the kids were in earshot, and they support electroshock and food/sleep deprivation therapy to 'cureâ people of their autism.
a lot of autistic people have started up a thing called autism acceptance month instead, and encourage people to light it up RED instead. so if you want to show support, support that instead. iâm not autistic myself but autism $peaks is honestly trash and needs to b u r n.
thank you!!
Oh, did I let my disability show a little too much and make you uncomfy? Sorry, I'll do better next time! My bad!
boo hoo, I let my symptoms show.
April is Autism Awareness Month!
Remember that Autism isn't something that needs to be cured or prevented! Autism didn't take your children or family member away from you and doesn't make them worth any less! Autism isn't something your kids have just so you can complain about how hard your life is as a parent with autistic kids!
Autism doesn't need to be "fixed" - society's treatment of neurodivergence does!
neurotypical people will never know the simple joy of rocking back and forth in place
Pretty convenient that a lot of American students never learn that Einstein was a Jew who came to America and started the nuclear research after fleeing from the Nazis and having most of his research lost in the book burnings.Â
Or how much of his life and work was shaped by his autism, like how it was his biggest asset because it allowed him to think differently, but also his biggest hurtle because of all the abuse he received in school from teachers who labeled him as a dunce and told him he was stupid because of his disability. Which he proved wrong by discovering the theory of relativity because of his autism instead of in spite of it.
EVEN THOUGH THOSE ARE THE TWO MOST RELEVANT DETAILS OF HIS LIFE THAT EXPLAIN HOW AND WHY HE DID ALMOST EVERYTHING HE DID. But nah, Im sure diversity wasnât relevant enough to be important in this situation.
Its almost like we have a biased school system that censors the accomplishments of marginalized groups to stop them from realizing that people like them have accomplished things.
He taught at Lincoln University after he was told black students couldnât attend his lectures at other colleges and universities.
Article quote: âIn 1946, Einstein, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist traveled to Lincoln University where he gave a speech in which he called racism âa disease of white people,â and added, âI do not intend to be quiet about it.â Lincoln was the first school in the United States to grant college degrees to blacks.â
Remembering someone who cared about education
I didnât know this about Einstein, all I knew was crazy hair math man. It makes me sad that we never learn about his life.
