Show off a gender/transition related art piece you've made (or that someone else made, but be sure to credit them!)
71
Share a piece of media that's not explicitly/canonically trans but is a great trans metaphor.

What have you been doing recently to affirm your gender?

How has realizing you're trans/metagender affected your approach to physical intimacy?

If gender is a smoothie, what are the ingredients in yours?

What are your gender related new year's resolutions?

Happy almost-Halloween! How have you used Halloween costumes to explore your gender or gender presentation?
US Trans Survey
The 2022 USTS is now open! If you live in the US, are trans (using a broad definition of the word "trans"), and have an hour to spare, please take this survey and share it with people in your community! I found the previous results very helpful for creating a trans-related conference presentation last year, so I know for a fact that people use these survey results ;) Here's the link.

How do you explain the concept of gender to other people?
unashamedly spamming about this bc it's one of very few chances we have to engage in real, truly impactful activism
many of you have probably seen a post going around noting that a proposal to amend Title IX is open for comment
notably, the amendment includes an expansion of the term "sex discrimination" to include and protect marginalized gender identities. also notably, the comments are currently FULL of anti-trans sentiment (MASSIVE TRIGGER WARNING IF YOU GO TO READ THEM)
i noticed that a lot of those comments use the same template, and reblogged that post with a template we can use in support of trans and nonbinary protection, but i wanted to copy it to a separate post so i could boost it to the tags. Now bear in mind it's a stock template and I'm no expert in law or politics, so it's a very rudimentary statement with minimal elaboration on its stance, so feel free to add to it as needed.
Please take a second to copy and paste this to the forum if you don't have time to write your own comment. There is 1 day left to add a comment, so please act now
I am writing in support of the redefinition of sex as used in Title IX, for the expansion of the legal protection of students and employees on the basis of gender identity. I believe that the acceptance of transgender and nonbinary individuals on a regulatory basis will pave the way for the normalization of transgender identities on a cultural level, improving the well-being and safety of our transgender and nonbinary citizens and allowing others to better understand and subsequently hold less stigma toward them.
I disagree with the opposition's sentiment that transgender or nonbinary identities inherently make someone a danger to others and often instead transgender and nonbinary individuals are more likely to be put in danger as a result of their gender identity. I believe that therefore discomfort or repulsion on this basis should be considered discrimination. Furthermore, as people and society continue to change and improve over time, we should shape our country and culture to suit the needs of the modern world. We ought not base our decisions for the future on what has "always been," as suggested by many in opposition.

update: another person in my community has suggested that this could trigger a lawsuit that would go to SCOTUS. That this could be a win the battle, lose the war kind of thing. I'm just bringing that up for a different perspective.
My original comment: I can't comment on what to write or not write but I can confirm that the open public comment period ends sept 12 2022 at midnight eastern time. Please write a comment if you can!
There are some news articles with summaries of the changes, which are less arduous to read than the original proposals. There is also this fact sheet: https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/docs/t9nprm-factsheet.pdf

Note that this proposal does not affect athletics - that will be addressed later - but these seem to be major and vital changes so I'm hopeful for what could come later.

What person, topic, or era in trans/gender non-conforming history do you recommend people learn more about?
I just wanted to say I love the idea of this blog! I look forward to suggesting some prompts once I read through what you have already.
Thanks! I'd love some prompt suggestions.

Who or what is an example of trans/non cis representation that has meant a lot to you, and why?

Space is definitely genderqueer. What astronomy feature (ex. nebula), picture, or artwork represents your gender feelings?

What is a saying, bit of advice, or realization about gender, or transition, or the trans experience, etc. that has stuck with you?
