Meet the 75%: the young people who voted to remain in the EU
According to polling data from YouGov, 75% of 18- to 24-year-olds voted to remain in the European Union. On Friday, the UK voted to leave, with 52% of the overall vote.
How does it feel to be one of that 75%? How does it feel to be 16/17 and want the EU to remain? We’re collecting their stories on tumblr at @the75percent.
okay regardless of your opinion on voting, please stop saying how the elderly shouldn’t be allowed vote because “it won’t impact them” like they’re still a very exploited class of people and a 70 year old can live longer than my entire life, like it does impact them, it can lead to an unnatural death on their part it can lead to worsening life conditions it can lead to so many terrible things for them they do matter and they are harmed by poor decisions made by our governments.
American right: goes off the fucking rails
British right: wait check this out

Things people don’t realize:
- The pound is falling faster than it did in the financial crisis of 2008
- the EU is the UK’s biggest trading partner. Tomorrow, when the market opens, the prices WILL go up for British companies as the contracts with the EU will all be void.
- The UK does NOT have a private trading agreement with the US, and the US is currently ONLY working on fixing the deals with the EU
- if the pound keeps falling, the UK will be facing a SEVERE recession.
- This will have a LONG TERM effect on the UK’s GDP (it’s going to fall).
- this will rattle GLOBAL markets, meaning that this decision affects EVERYONE
And it now appears Leave will win, so this problem is probably about to happen.
Okay like yes there are lots of concerns here and a lot of long term issues, but the leave outcome in the referendum isn't going to 'void' any contracts overnight. The internal democratic voting of a member state has no bearing on the EU until the government of that state actually puts the vote into practice. The referendum means nothing to the EU until the British Government actually begins the process of leaving. Leaving the EU can't happen overnight it's going to be an extensive process that will take like up to two years so don't panic that once we wake up tomorrow everything will be anarchy. These things take time and there will be negotiations and there certainly will be problems but it's not an instantaneous thing
your honour, i think you’ll find that tax fraud is my client’s kink and for the prosecution to press these charges is, in fact, kinkshaming
