So I'm not active on here at all anymore, haven't been for years. I basically just use this to view random crap from old blogs every now and then. If you're interested in what I do now, I occasionally stream on Twitch, do nature and street photography, and plan on starting a YouTube channel soon. I also plan on starting a Substack mailing list, so people can keep in contact with me outside of Discord and Mastodon since I'm not very likely to pick up any more social media once those die.
If you want to keep in contact, check out everything here:
Naturally yesterday’s anons have given me some thought so I’ve been reflecting a bit. One relatively common critique of being a trans ally is that it’s easier to attack JK Rowling for ‘internet points’ over doing anything else.
And I think it’s worth putting that in context for myself at the very least. JK Rowling lives in Scotland. Her wealth is directly funding court cases against the Scottish government that burns time and resources, and there’s a feeling of powerlessness within ScotGov because they simply cannot compete.
The Scottish Government is a devolved government with limited powers. They cannot make the case against the Supreme Court ruling, and when the Scottish Parliament passed Gender Recognition Act reform, it was blocked by the British Government.
I cannot express enough how much of the anti trans movement in Scotland and the UK is being bankrolled and supported by the wealth and influence of JK Rowling.
People who still love Harry Potter are either directly financing her ability to inflict harm on trans people, or providing her with the cultural capital which keeps Harry Potter in the limelight.
So the option is to take pot shots at that when we can, and help services which provide critical support to trans people which is what I try to do when I can.
TL:DR - There’s a very real reason people take the piss out of JK Rowling. I believe she’s a hateful bigot who contributes to real suffering.
i am begging people to stick with mohammed @mohdiwais as his campaign continues. he can't afford for engagement to be dropping off when these donations are his sole way of supporting 27 family members. i don't even have the words to convey how terrifying it is for all of them to see hours, or days, stretching between donations.
they are being bombed constantly, they have no home or jobs to return to, their children are severely traumatised. all of them need food, winter weatherproofing, medicine. this isn't a game or a fun post; it's their lives.
i don't know why tumblr has seemingly decided to stop caring about this family overnight but it's terrifying me, too. please toss them a reblog at the very least, and donate what you can spare.
Hello, my name is Abd Alhadi Aburass, and I am from Gaza Palestine 🍉 🇵🇸. I write to you today with a heavy heart💔, seeking hope and help. The ongoing conflict has put my family's life in grave danger🙏.
We have lost our home and my advocacy bureau , leaving us with nothing but the clothes on our backs. In search of safety, we have become refugees, fleeing to another city where we now face immense challenges. 🥹

The war has torn apart our lives, and we are struggling to find stability in this new place. Basic necessities like food, clean water, and shelter are scarce. The trauma of the conflict weighs heavily on us, but we are determined to rebuild our lives and create a safer future for our children.🥲🥲

My name is Abd Alhadi Abu… Abd Alhadi Aburas needs your support for Rebuilding Hope For My Fami
We need your support to get back on our feet. Your generous donations will go towards:
• Emergency Shelter: Helping us secure a safe place to live.
• Food and Water: Providing us with essential nutrition and clean water.
• Medical Care: Access to healthcare for our family, especially our children who have been deeply affected by the trauma.
• Education: Ensuring our children can continue their education and have a chance at a better future.
• Rebuilding Livelihoods: Helping us restart our business or find new means of income to become self-sufficient again.
Every Contribution Counts:
No amount is too small. Every dollar brings us one step closer to stability and a chance to rebuild our lives. Your support means the world to us during this dark time.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your support not only helps us materially but also gives us hope that better days are ahead.
Please share our story with your friends, family, and community. Together, we can overcome this hardship and start anew.
Hello everyone, my name is Eman, and I'm reaching out for help on behalf of my family who has endured unimaginable hardship since October 7th. Our life was once simple and happy, but everything changed with the onset of intense and indiscriminate bombing at the start of the war. We've been forced to evacuate six times in search of safety, finally settling in Rafah in southern Gaza, only to find it too is now under threat. Currently, seven of us are living in a tent without basic necessities or income.
Recently, we received photos from relatives showing that our home and my father's fabric and curtain shop in northern Gaza have been completely destroyed, leaving us with no shelter or means of livelihood. With the looming threat of a ground invasion in Rafah, we have nowhere else to turn. We attempted to flee to Egypt, but the $5,000 per person fee makes it impossible for us—a total of $35,000 for our family.
We are desperate to leave Gaza for safety and a chance at a better future. Your support is our only hope. Please help us reach our goal quickly, as every moment brings us closer to the danger of invasion in Rafah.
One last thing, and I hope I am not being rude. I hope that if you are not able to donate, you can share this fundraiser because we do not have any relatives outside Gaza to help us share it and reach the goal, thank you guys.
When friends are gone forever, neighbors are separated, and your childhood street becomes rubble, help us rebuild our home again. Give us a little hope.
My mother, who is sixty years old, instead of resting at this age, she cooks for us, and the temperatures are very high, and we get burned every day just to get a plate of food mixed with smoke.
Do not hesitate to donate even a little, as it may be the reason for our survival
Wow there’s some fucking bullshit going on in the replies here. Moderate your fucking spaces on the internet, kick racists and other bad actors to the kerb or you risk losing everyone else. This guy has the right of it (scroll up to top).
For anyone who can’t/won’t read that twitter thread, it’s by Michael B. Tager (@IamRageSparkle) and it says:
I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, “no. get out.”
And the dude next to me says, “hey i’m not doing anything, i’m a paying customer.” and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, “out. now.” and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed
Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, “you didn’t see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them.” And i was like, ohok and he continues.
“you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it’s always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don’t want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.
And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it’s too late because they’re entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.
And i was like, ‘oh damn.’ and he said “yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people.” And then he went back to ignoring me. But I haven’t forgotten that at all.

Tolerance is not a moral absolute; it is a peace treaty And peace treaties are not unilateral. They have obligations running in both directions.
You are not bound to tolerate people who have a stated intent to not tolerate you.
Nor should you tolerate people who have a stated intent to not tolerate people who are tolerating you.
Once I said "My gender is whatever's funniest at the time" and my coworker stops dead in his tracks, turns slowly and says "So are your pronouns honk/honk?" killing me instantly
