stripes.
we'll keep it short and sweet this week. the weather is getting warmer and warmer which means we're getting less and less to work with. pretty soon, we'll all be running around in the same t-shirt and shorts combo looking like a bunch of 4th graders on summer break. to keep things interesting, i suggest boosting your wardrobe with some stripes. for the last month or so, i've been scouring websites and stores on rideau to find the perfect striped tee. surprisingly, well-designed and constructed striped threads are hard to come by. here is my unfortunate, short list of recommendations. 1. fine jersey stripe short sleeve in ash white stripe by american apparel. 2. stripe tee in inverse natural black pablo stripe by american apparel. 3. stripe tee in turquoise summer peach stripe by american apparel. 4. poly-cotton stripe crew neck in forest white stripe by american apparel. 5. wanted destroy wash striped relaxed fit tee in black/white by kill city. 6. wanted destroy wash striped relaxed fit tee in pink/black by kill city. i'm a basics guy. i love pieces that are universal. i'd say 70% of the tees i wear are plain black, white, or grey. but, when layering isn't an option, those basics become really basic really quick. that's where stripes come in. i have two thoughts, though. 1. the thinner the stripes, the better the look 2. the fewer the colors, the better the style. in fact, i would go as far to say that any more than two colors of stripes is too many. all 6 of my aforementioned recommendations are two-colored combinations. i think striped t-shirts have a tendency to look sorta cheap. if the stripe gets too thick or the pattern gets to be too assorted in color, the shirt can even feel a little juvenile. but, if you do it right, you'll practically be unstoppable this summer. and, if layering is still an option, throw those stripes underneath a jacket or hoodie or even a flannel. don't be scared to mix those patterns! just do it smart. in conclusion and totally off topic, the nba playoffs have been absolutely ridic. get the boys together this week and feed yourself with this unprecedented competition in postseason basketball. #thunderup
