not a new thing to say by any means but deleting any social media where you see/interact with people who you see/interact with irl is such a great thing to do for your mental health.
i hear so many people say "oh i only have facebook so i can talk to friends/family i'd love to delete it" as if they aren't using the facebook app on a handy portable telephone for which they pay to have unlimited texts and more phone minutes than anyone could conceivably use in a month.
as if they don't live in the same area as most of the people they 'need facebook to talk too'
as if there aren't apps like discord where you can text, voice, and video chat with anyone youre friends with for free no matter where they live without having to be exposed to anyone you aren't friends with.
i deleted facebook almost ten years ago now and it's the best quick and easy thing ive ever done for my mental health. I don't know what the latest pointless drama is, I don't know who said what to whom, i don't know what people from my high school who i never spoke to are doing on their summer holiday this year. AND ITS GREAT.
if that person is worth speaking to you'll find a way to do it without facebook and your relationship with them will be all the better for not being punctuated with adverts, the latest trends everyone is obsessed with for some reason, some notification about a person you don't care about interacting with something you posted publicly (why did you post that again?).
Telling people that you can't love animals and eat them isn't performative. Not eating animals is actionable praxis, and has a measurable effect.
You can't love animals and pay for their suffering.
You can't love animals and support an industry destroying habitat for countless animals.
You can't love animals and post apologia for their continued torture.
however you CAN not love animals and disagree with torturing and consuming their bodies so strongly you refuse to partake in it whenever possible.

does anyone else remember when michaels (art supply company) accidentally made omegle again
when they What
michaels added a feature for a while in sept. 2020 where shoppers could ask questions that would be answered live by other shoppers anonymously. which led to some good michaels interactions.
Quote of the day
I’m seeing a lot of people saying this post changed their brain chemistry, and as a neuroscientist I wanted to say yes!!! Yes it does!
Wanting something requires dopamine signaling, but liking something doesn’t.
If you have a mental illness/disorder that affects dopamine, you might feel that you don’t want to do the things that you like. You do still like them. You will appreciate having done them.
Let your likes guide you.
(If you want to read more, here’s one experimental paper about it. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5171207/ This theory called the incentive-sensitization theory was originally created to explain behaviors in addiction but can be applied elsewhere as well)
Rewards are both ‘liked’ and ‘wanted’, and those two words seem almost interchangeable. However, the brain circuitry that mediates the psych

remember in p.e. when they'd take a bunch of insecure teenagers & be like "today we're going to play basketball" and then not teach you how to play basketball. and then put you in a group with guys who were obsessed with basketball and would get mad at you for not knowing how to play basketball. why did they do that
Whenever people ask me "why don't you know xyz, it's so popular" well see it's because
The world doesn't revolve around one country. What is popular over there might not be the same in another country and it's totally normal but pop culture for example is a global thing like most people know Ariana Grande. This is just an example.
Yeah pop culture is universal and most societies like the same stuff, just like how everyone knows who Zhou Xuan, Dhanush, and Mia Guissé are and we all know and love the classic holiday season movie Al-Risâlah
